Hey, just a heads up. In the opening sequence you show asbestos covered pipes. That stuff is so bad, that like any fibrous dust, it can attach itself to skin, clothes hair. The respirator is a great idea, however there is a reason that when people are in an area with asbestos, they suit up in disposable suits. If you drove home, you contaminated your car. If you walked into your house, you contaminated your home. If you took off your clothes and showered, you contaminated your bathroom. The asbestos becomes airborne like fine dust. The act of walking through an area that is contaminated, means you have exposed yourself and whatever dust you had on you is now in the car seats, carpet and flooring of where you live. This stuff is so nasty, that you can cause it to become airborne over and over, just by walking through or disturbing the area. Shoes, clothes, hair, skin can all be contaminated and cross contaminate areas if you are not protected. Just a word of advice, if you come across this stuff, leave, turn around, leave and decontaminate and then bag and toss all your clothes, shoes etc and shower outside before entering your home .
sort of. Yeah its bad, but asbestos is harmless unless disturbed, the insulation is very deteriorated but unless they touched it, moved it, or significantly disturbed the air around it they would be ok. You are correct on the disposal method however, if they did do any of the above things and contaminated their clothing it should realistically be thrown away. Something not a lot of people know is asbestos isn't like radiation, it doesn't harm you just by going near it, when disturbed it fills the air with tiny fibers that when breathed in create scar tissue in the lungs and can impair a persons ability to breath after prolonged exposure.
When I was staying at RAAF base Williams (Aussie Air Force) all the barracks had signs up on the wall saying there was asbestos everywhere, they gave us no advice other than dont touch the walls. No suits, respirators, decontaminating, anything. Goood old Aussie Military for you
The key is prolonged exposure, and also disturbing it to get it into the air. It's not the end of the world and unless you are around the stuff daily your not going to die from it. Funny how people get all worried about Asbestos today...not long ago people touched and played with Mercury in schools, those people are still alive because they didn't do it on a daily bases but you young fools act like one touch or one breath and it's goners. I breath in more shit at a camp fire then I ever will the few asbestos pipes I have been around.
Meeker Extreme, this brings up another great point. We shouldn't be breathing anything. Anyone concerned about their airways should take the safest route and seal themselves into a bag with a hepa filter attached. Suck all air out as it may be noxious, filled with radiation or worse Oxygen and kill you. This will keep you safe from the outside poison air and then you can rest peacefully forever in your skintight cocoon.
It's Creedmoor Psychiatric Center. It was abandoned and several sections were used by NYPD to house several units. Auto Crime, Narcotics, Queens Warrant Squad, Vice, etc. I worked at QWS for a year before it and the other units moved to another location in Queens because the sections we were using were finally condemned. That place was filthy.
Sara LV my mom worked EMS in the city and she would take people to the psych center when it was still up and running. Several units worked out of there when the center was still in use.
I feel like the rooms upstairs were probably for kids, that were either taken from bad situations or something or being examined and stuff. So crazy. I would love to explore this place

TO THE GIRL IN THE VIDEO! The little paper mask that you're wearing will not protect you from asbestos and your clothes will be contaminated and you will track it back home. You need to wear the proper respirator and disposable coveralls duck taped to rubber gloves and boots. You may not think it's a big deal now but, 30 years from now when the doctor tells you you have mesothelioma he'll say "that was stupid".
im talkin about workers that have worked in navy in subs and battleships/boats shit liek that and construxction my uncle got a case and won for like 14.2 mill cause he worked in thoose conditions
what a waste... just think... clean that place up, install some cots, you just ended homelessness in NYC. Pay the homeless to do the work. A measly few million bucks ends the problem. Makes you wonder what the real goal of our government is.
Hard to believe there is any unused real estate in NYC. I'm sure the city will eventually sell the land to real estate developers and a luxury residential building will replace it, just like everywhere else in New York.

My buddies and I used to explore abandoned buildings all the time, but we never got into anything this cool. One insane asylum, other than that, mainly old hotels and some schools. THis is waaay better than anything we ever managed. Well done.
Great video! I wonder if someone filmed something in there. Real blood turns dark brown and lots of it would coagulate. The room was so over the top (especially the sink), my money is an amateur filmmaker grabbed their friends and filmed some crazy stuff.
Lucky Mama I work in the medical field and I've seen my share of real blood & I'm pretty sure it's real. Chances are some punk decided to break open the bags & veils all over the place.
I'm willing to bet this was the 90s NYPD Child Protective Services Unit that was disbanned. That would explain the kids play room, bedrooms. The mugshots could have been all the suspects, the computers could have been sex crimes. Now that is all handled by SVB(NYPD Special Victims Bureau). But don't quote me on it. I'd have to see for myself and be able to investigate more.

dude, why would they take computers in CPS as evidence if they didnt contain something illicit on them ? given that, what, you think they have notes on them describing how they beat their kid ? i doubt that. it probably was porn related. thats typically why computers are taken (unless theres some other cyber crime taking place, which i kind of doubt given its the early 90s)... as someone who got onto the internet in 94 , pedo's were fucking everywhere.. it was like some sorta fuckin' sanctuary for perverts :p the internet has changed a lot from those days.. thank god. now its just people trolling and saying stupid shit ;)
William A There's another video floating around where they say the computers are attached to a money laundering, fraud and bribery case the DA was working on when the building was being used. Nothing whatsoever to do with CPS.
@@ShadowMoon878 And asbestos... You need EPA filters for asbestos, their particles are so tiny, this kind of mask he's wearing in the video is not protecting you against breathing it. Of course, if you don't care getting lungs cancer, then go for it, have fun playing paintball in there... lol

A lot of places like these, especially in these conditions went bankrupt quickly and were just forgotten about. I’ve been exploring different psychiatric hospitals for years and looking back in history with them they’ve gone bankrupt or something extreme happened there where they just abandoned the whole area
Geronimo553 It was likely vandals or people that broke in that put it there, not anybody who worked at the station at the time. It was long-abandoned for sure.
My grandson and I loved the video but please please always use masks and gloves no matter what or where you explore cuz sweetie you don't ever know if they had to abandoned the place because of TB or something worse and also you don't want to leave your fingerprint stay safe keep up the good work and God bless you and keep you safe always
Looks like you ran into a facility that was shared by city agencies, that first room with the tape recorders is what they call a wire room. It’s where all the conversations from a wire tap get recorded and transcribed. The suitcases with the voice recognition are what they call the slave unit. They are connected to tape recorders where the conversations are recorded. Usually only certain Detectives were allowed into those rooms because of the confidentiality. Watch the series called “The Wire”and Your get an idea of that type of room in operation, usually investigating a drug gang during the 90 crack epidemic.
My guess is it was significantly cheaper for the city to abandon and fence off the building, then it was to demolition it. Which wouldn't be a simple demolition because of ALL the asbestos that is literally everywhere in that building and underneath it. -Asbestos expert. Btw the guy filming is not safe there from Asbestos exposure just by wearing a mask..
Justin Cavinder could you tell me why if you are an asbestos expert, the city I live in cleaned out asbestos from houses/buildings wearing their hazmat suits and then still in their hazmat suits were at the city dump emptying out the bags?
untappedcities.com/2014/05/15/daily-what-creedmoor-psychiatric-centers-forgotten-police-station-in-queens/ The fake blood part is the result of a movie shot in that building.
@@sweetlakers eh, I don't know that this is the building they are talking about in that article. That building is part of the old Creedmoor psychiatric hospital in queens. Looking at the map it seems like it's not right in the city where what he is exploring seems to be in the city with tunnels underneath. The article says they used the building until after 9/11 where what he's exploring has calendars from the 90's. I still think the blood is fake, I just think it's a different place than the article you posted.
At 4:45 of this video the Voice Identification machine are used for investigators to hide their voice when talking on the phone. That's the old fashion version of voice morphing like the voice morphing programs on PCs.
I'm going to have to disagree with you. If you notice it has a hookup for a computer, etc. and this device is likely used when PLAYING BACK recorded conversations between two or more people, to be able to identify which voice is speaking and when. So if you had a cop undercover in a room with 4 people and they're all talking about a crime, eventually that recording has to be transcribed into text in order to be used in any court case. So it's likely this machine used the analog signature of a voice in the conversation to map it to a particular person in that conversation. And then as it's being played back by whoever is transcribing it - the name of each person speaking would flash on a computer screen. So the final result could look like: Fred: Yeah, I saw the car drive by me twice. Bob: And that's when you decided to shoot at it? Fred: Yes, I took out my 9mm and pumped it full of holes. Steve: Fred's a great shot hahahaha. If you Google "Voice Identification Model LAM 840" you'll see one that was for sale on eBay, and it looks like it worked specifically with those TOSHIBA model laptops (hence why you see a ton of both in that room). You'll also find a Britannica article as well as many others that describes how this machine uses a voice's audio "signature" and spectrograph to identify who is speaking whether live on the phone or in a recording. Truly fascinating technology for that era.
lorem ipsum the calendar in there said 1990. Why would any office keep up a cheap paper calendar if it was 1994 or 1995 why keep an old calendar up for 4-5 years??
Yea I don't understand why the calendar is up, but Lethal Injection by Ice Cube, which released in December of 1993, is in the tape collection, so this is most likely early-to-mid 90s.
ICM is "Internal Compliance Management." It's a program that some police departments use for their Internal Affairs. An ICM Coordinator would be someone on hand from the company that created the program to help the department use it properly and keep it updated, fix any problems, etc. It probably wasn't a permanent office; the ICM Coordinator likely stopped in once a week or so, or when they were called in to fix a problem. That office probably had all the documentation and original software for the system as well. Hope that helps solve that incredibly tiny mystery.
I watched a vid ( different explorers ) and they explored an abandoned high school . Found heaps of pupils records including photographs , some really confidential stuff also . I was kinda shocked because I used to work in education .
T Bag it's not about leaving in a hurry, it's more about "where are we going to put a 3 story building full of stuff?" They sure ain't gonna pay just to store it lmao
Also about WHO is gonna move it. That's a WHOLE lotta stuff and the officer's aren't going to do it. And again, they're not gonna pay $$$ to have workers move it.

It looks like everyone and there grandma in the area knows about the place, some guy goes through picks up the picture lays it back down on top of the rubble. (that is also an absurd number of tags.)
ITS NOT JUST A POLICE STATION. back then you'd find buildings that shared 3 different business or more. Clearly its a Doctors office.. DHS office and a Police Bay.
Reggie Rodriguez Yeah that's what you think, but you never know.. since someone could own that land still.. But really I don't see it as theft, more preserving.
Not worth the plastic they are made with. You have to remember late 80s early 90s cassette tapes was all there was when it came to music so there was hundreds and hundreds of them made

In 2010, many parts of Building 70 were used to film The Normals, an independent movie centered around a Harvard student whose personal scheme requires him to enroll in a clinical drug trial. To us, it may sound like a missed opportunity that such a lightweight movie would be made there and not use the building’s spooky ambiance to its full potential. On the other hand though, the vials of fake blood that were left behind are sure to spook anybody brave enough to traverse the abandoned Police Station themselves." - Untapped Cities.
Just a word of advice, if you come across this stuff, leave, turn around, leave and decontaminate and then bag and toss all your clothes, shoes etc and shower outside before entering your home
.
Goood old Aussie Military for you
LOL, looky here boys, we got us a genuine, internet tough guy.

Wat happen to it? Why was everything just left behind like that
bump. I'd also love to know why this place was left behind without being cleared out.
My guess is it was significantly cheaper for the city to abandon and fence off the building, then it was to demolition it. Which wouldn't be a simple demolition because of ALL the asbestos that is literally everywhere in that building and underneath it.

So the final result could look like:
Fred: Yeah, I saw the car drive by me twice.
That looked like a "wire room" where wire taps were recorded and stored for later transcription for trial.

Quinn Dickinson The earliest that model was on the road was late 1997.

That room with the blood could have been for Forensic Analysis; a room for homicide investigations.
No - as pointed out elsewhere - that's not part of any police station.
Excellent video this is the second one I’ve seen I subscribed because really cool and intriguing stuff great content
I always wanted to be a homicide detective 🔍 so I would have been there for day's gg through that stuff I would even take some home & do my own research. Awesome video!
It’s like playing the OG Resident Evil watching this video!
This better go viral
Urbex&Chill love u
government wont let it
Viral like those blood bags
Seriously, I like this Video very much. Why? Because of all the details, means not only the location, even the preparation of the video. The sound was chosen perfectly to get a feeling of self exploration, in my opinion.
Devin, you did perfect, keep up the good work, and primariöy, stay safe and healthy ;-)
LOL the game of "Operation" in the bloody medical room.
Those are photo negatives, not "film reels"
@Warner JahJah “explorer” If you’re gonna try to insult someone, at least do it right.
Trump/Pence sticker at 12:20 I think that was there campaign headquarters, and that would DEFINITELY explain the hip-hop tapes
lol
How would that explain the tapes? Lol
I love the way you respect people's privacy that's really cool that you do that
How could this place just be abandoned with everything still in it? Baffles me.
well, think about it when it a big office
full of people has to move who wants to be the one to have to carry all that shit out and try to fit all those desks through all those doorways?
@@Nik-ff3tu exactly.
the abandoned asylum in downey ( the one from jake paul’s & other youtubers videos) has lots of murder files, from the patients who plead insanity! they have so much inside the buildings that you must think it’s fake but in reality it’s just to much to move around!
Fake as hell I live here and def not here
Well if you think about computers became a thing so they didn’t need paper files anymore when you could store it on the computers and a lot of that technology is old af. Depending on when that place was abandoned there was no reason to lug all that shit around to a new place
