You just changed my life. Been spending all this money on laptops and only using them to play music and nothing else. Have to get a new one and was considering another Mac. I love Mac’s no doubt but I’m never buying an expensive laptop for djing again, even though I can afford it. Thanks man.
I said this for a long time upon making the decision to give up Mac upon their first price increase about 6-7 years ago. Albeit not as cheap as a laptop you bought, I opted to go the route of a gaming spec PC, which outperformed my previous Macbook Pro hands down. I have never looked back since. I now perform on the laptop free Denon Prime 4. Happy days.
Old windows laptops are fine. I use a old Dell Precision which is an i7 with 16GB. But its about 8yrs old. Runs Windows 7 Pro with nothing on it at all apart from Serato. Its solid. Never had 1 glitch on it. If your a Pro DJ you must have a dedicated DJ laptop with no other apps on it. Especially if your using it for events etc.
Excellent video & just saved me from unnecessary spending. I just purchased a Zenbook Duo Pro that I was using to dj but was annoyed with unhooking & having to move it for everyday use. I needed dedicated dj laptop & now I know I don't have to break the bank....
I did this same test. I was running a MacBook pro retina 2015 and it performed as bad your MacBook did. My windows laptops (Lenovo Thinkpads) performed flawlessly. I ended up getting rid of my macbook pro and replaced it with a ThinkPad x390 with an 8th Gen i7 CPU and 16GB RAM. It costed significantly less than my macbook and performed flawlessly with the Serato 3.0 beta.
How does your 2015 not handle it when my 2012 i5 can handle it? Might want to look into your laptop issues as it’s not functioning right. If it was it would be able to handle it
@@nr-xi8sr I got rid of the macbook. I know other Mac users with similar spec'd laptops with the same problems (high temps, high CPU usage, tracks take too long to analyze stems, choppy waveforms). I use both Mac and PC for Serato, but the poor performance of stems on my Mac on stems made me move exclusively to higher spec'd PC laptops for the same money. What gear are you running on your 2012?
@@alphaza76 you just mentioned your issue then. If it going to high in temp then it makes the cpu throttle. If you’re not going to clean out the dust in the case then it’s not the Mac’s fault you’re having issues. This will happen on a windows laptop as well. This is something that should be done about once a year and people wonder why they have issues.
Why is this possible? I’m curious as to how many tracks that laptop can carry in its storage as well as how it performs with multiple applications. Not to knock this video or anything, I love your channel bro. I just think this test was not a proper representation of a fully loaded laptop. Many of us DJs have a ton of tracks both audio and video. Some of us need to run SoundSwitch and Phase DJ. This is possible because old laptops have lower dpc latency as they don't use the modern standby and power settings that current laptops use. If you watch the video closely tho he did get usb warning lights flashing up so if you performed with this and continued to use stems you absolutely would hear audio glitches.
