Your take on street photography in this video was very interesting to me :o I’ve never thought of street photography as capturing people’s emotion… I’ve always viewed it as simply capturing a city or place and its streets candidly in a bit of a documentary fashion in order to show what this place and the people were like in the time period of the photograph. Hence I’ve never felt restricted in Japan because their reserved nature is exactly what makes them who they are and so I just capture that haha. Anyway, interesting to think about! It was an enjoyable video and those B&W shots turned pretty cool considering it was actually a mistake haha😍🙌
❤ A Happy Accident leads to some cool shots...imagine if the opposite had happened. Maybe as an experiment, get two tolls of 400 film, one color, one black and white. Choose on blindly, have a friend load and go shoot and see if your thoughts change while you are shooting. Do the second load blind too and then see what comes out!
It’s why the wife and I get season tickets every year for Disney World parks in Orlando . We hardly do the rides but just enjoy the different themes they do throughout the year while I do photography.
Hallo Karin schönes Comic Like Video da geht das Kinderherz bzw.
Hey Karin. I have actually been to this place not long ago :). I agree that the whole area, while super cool and fun, is mega crowded, overstimulating, and waiting times for the rides are often insane (I stood in the queue for about an hour for the Mario kart ride - indeed not worth it - but there were plenty of rides that had 2 hour wait times, which I skipped with no regrets). I didn't get the timed entry ticket for the nintendo world, but instead, went there early in the morning; just after the park opens, there's a time window when you can enter the Nintendo area freely, because the timed entry system doesn't work yet. One of the peculiarities of Japan. I read somewhere that black & white is better when you want to convey moments and emotions on your photos (since color can be a bit distracting then), so maybe it was one of the happy little accidents. I really liked how these turned out, even more than the santacolor ones. But maybe it's just me. ;) Thanks for sharing. :)
What a coincidence, so fun to hear you have been there not too long ago! :) Did you take photos as well or did you just enjoy the park without any photography? I was really stunned to see how crowded the park was, even though it was just a usual work day, no weekend and no holiday and we even arrived a bit before the opening time. Actually, I totally agree with your thoughts on black and white photography - maybe it was meant to be. Getting rid of color surely helps to bring emotions and expressions into focus.
I love your video from Japan :) I also do street photography in Japan, but it’s difficult because Japanese people are so nervous about it. I really want to go abroad soon.
@@sekky3379 Feel you on that one, those places are on my list as well! :) I haven't heard about Nakatu but it looks amazing! Hopefully I will manage to visit one day. ☺
Compared to other places in Japan they are (from my experience). But in regards to other countries I would overall still say people seem more reserved in public

I love how you embraced the large mass of people. I have such a hard time with that.
Your reaction to finding unexpected B&W film in your camera is exactly the same as my reaction to discovering color film in my camera. 😢
Been to Japan seven times. I think positive expressions are quite common but it’s hard to spot any negative emotions ;).

Thanks so much for your comment, I appreciate it! That's actually a super fun experiment, thanks for the idea! Might try it out one day. :)

Definitely has happened to me before once or twice, photos were still fun to have, but I feel your pain haha! "Shoot film, it'll be fun!"
Outstanding experience Karin; thank you for sharing!! The Harry Potter area looks amazing (and your photos too) 🙂
Thank so much for your comment, I appreciate it. :) The Harry Potter World was really nice indeed!

Great video Karin. It's good that you managed to turn a negative into a positive with the film roll mix up! *see what I did there*
Hahaha love it, that’s my type of humor 😂 thanks so much!
were any of the shots taken with the 15 mm voigtlander
I love your video from Japan :)

Thanks so much! :) where would you like to go if you could choose?
I really wanna go LA and NY 😎 and if you come to Osaka next time, you should go Nakatu :)
That is so retro place and you can feel old Japan style haha

Actually XP2 is best at ISO100-200 - finer grain and stacks of shadow detail. I rarely shoot it at ISO400, often at 320 if I want a bit more speed.
What about in Osaka? I always here people are more open there
Compared to other places in Japan they are (from my experience). But in regards to other countries I would overall still say people seem more reserved in public
Love the photo of the gruff disgruntled Luigi 😆
Haha, thank you! :)
That is the non-rf coupled wide heliar?
Yes, it's the 15mm Super Wide Heliar but the first model. It's tinier but also not coupled with the RF so that you have to guess the distances
Japan is definetly hard for streetphotography.
Fun but hard for sure!
