    Karin, so good to see your work and exploring again. Japan is a remarkable visual with so much color & vibe. I often imagine shooting cherry blossoms w ISO color reversal film. There is so much to see and taste in Osaka--a foodie destination. Happy shooting and learning about this culture ❤

      @@KarinMajoka For fall colors, we were there a bit too early (totally underestimated that I hoped for that😅) but we got the full greens of everything and top temperatures of 25°C and in the Night about 14°C. So pretty comfortable. :)

    You had the Japan trip of my dreams !! Last year i went with my family and shot partly in film but it was bit much for me juggling with digital and handling all the anxiety of managing travel with film. But there is nothing like Japan. Hope to go there soon again

    You can tell how your style has changed even in 6 years time. Oddly enough, the Konica TC was the first camera I ever purchased back in 1995! Beautiful shots, cant wait to make it to Japan myself, a real photographer's heaven!

    These are great moving images and analog shots that remind me of my own trip a year ago. And I think it's remarkable that you liked the Go player location so much, I also took several pictures there. I'm already looking forward to the other videos!

    Straight fire as always... thanks for your videos, Karin! Curious about how you edit/don't edit film photos, though-- I've shot Gold indoors and have never gotten the white balance to look as good as it does in the shot at 14:43...

    Great video Karen. You took TWO Leica’s….to JAPAN! At least you tried to make up for it with a Fuji and an Olympus. Japan looks wonderful, looking forward to the rest of the series.

    Lovely video, thank you. Can I ask, what was the airport experience with film like?
    Do the scanners destroy film, or only above certain iso?

      Thanks for your comment :) I was luckily accepted hand-checking at the airport, so luckily my film did not get scanned. But generally airport scanners (especially CT scanners) will most likely damage your film. The experiences and results are mixed with low ISO films, but I would still not like to risk it

    Danke für das Video ! Klasse Bilder ! Ich beneide Dich ja echt ein bisschen. Japan ist echt ein Traum für Streetphotography 👌🏻Eines Tages schaff ich es auch mal dahin...wenn ich in Rente bin...is ja nimmer lang 😁😂 Ich geh mal davon aus, das es nicht das letzte Japan-Video war ;) Bin auf jeden Fall gespannt was das noch so kommt.
    Die Shots um ungefähr 13:00 rum in der Go-Spielhalle sind Gold !
    Wie ist es denn, in Japan Street zu shooten ? Ich würde mal meinen, die Leute sind zu 99% entspannt und chillig wenn sie fotografiert werden im Gegensatz zu manchen permanent-empörten Mitmenschen hier in Deutschland. Aber ich kann mir auch vorstellen das es in den japanischen Großstädten Personen oder Gegenden gibt, wo man nicht tot über der Mauer hängen mag.
    Achja: TITUS T-Shirt....Kauf Regional and "Support your local Münsteraner Skate-Shop" 😂😂😂 I like ✌🏻

      Japan ist auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert, ich drücke also die Daumen, dass es mit deiner Reise in Zukunft klappt! :) Ich weiß noch nicht genau wieviele, aber es werden auf jeden fall noch einige Japan Videos folgen ☺️ Ich fand Straßenfotografie in Japan auch ziemlich entspannt, die meisten Leute waren entweder offen oder ungestört, ich hatte während der ganzen Reise keine einzige unangenehme Situation zum Glück :) (Hahaha, gut gespotted mit dem Titus Shirt 😂)

    I think film is so nice. It teaches a photographer to be a sniper and consider all parameters before letting an exposure go. Yet, I think the digital age has come a long way and I finally relented and went digital for two main reasons: 1. ISO and 2. The insane price of negs.

    Interessantes Video und spannende Reise. Osaka werde ich auf meiner nächsten Japan-Reise auch mal besuchen. Meine aktuelle Japan-Reise endet leider bald und ich habe das gemacht was Du 2018 gemacht hast: Eine analoge Kamera. Mehr nicht. Den Film habe ich mir vor Ort gekauft und entwickelt und gescannt habe ich hier auch. Lief ganz gut. Bin gespannt auf deine nächsten Video hier auf dem Kanal. Eine gute Reise weiterhin und gutes Licht.

      Spannend, wo in Japan warst du denn unterwegs in dieser Reise? Ich hab letztendlich auch meinen gesamten Film in Japan entwickeln lassen. Filme vor Ort gekauft habe ich aber kaum, da ich die Film Preise doch recht ernüchternd fand und es sich finanziell nicht wirklich gelohnt hat im Vergleich zu europäischen Filmpreisen. Danke dir und dir ebenfalls weiterhin eine gute Reise :)

      @@KarinMajoka Ja, finanziell lohnt sich das nicht. Hatte nur Sorge um die Filme beim Flughafenscanner. Da es meine erste Reise nach Japan war, Tokio --> Funatsu (Mt Fuji) -> Kyoto -> Tokio

    In order to pass the airport, x-rays scan , and preventing it destroying your film, do you need a lead bag for your film?

      I have heard mixed experiences about using a lead bag. I asked for hand checking and was lucky they accepted it :)

    Kurze Frage: Von welchem Flughafen bist du geflogen und wie gut lief das mit dem handchecken? :D Und...was ich mich auch frage...wie sieht das eigentlich mit dem Verzollen von in Japan gekauften Film aus? Also unterscheidet sich da was, wenn ich diesen in Japan schon entwickeln lasse? Fragen über Fragen :D

    2018... When a 3-pack of Kodak Gold was €7,99 😅 Nice video - so far I would stay in Europe for the food 😂
    When you talked about the very special film I already guessed that it would be Natura 1600. By the way, how did it go with the scanners at the airport, you had everything hand checked?

      Yes, good old times! Back then I also bought Fuji Superia for super cheap in 5-packs in stores in Japan 😩 I was luckily and they allowed hand checking on all my 4 flights to and from Japan! So luckily no film was harmed :)

    Neulich habe ich gelesen, dass es an den Flughäfen neue CT-Scanner gibt welche die Filme beschädigen. Wie hast du es geschafft, deine Filme unbeschädigt durch den Sicherheitscheck zu bringen?

      Das stimmt, es gibt leider inzwischen an vielen Flughäfen CT-Scanner und der ist doch recht aggressiv darin Filme zu zerstören. Ich habe nett nach hand-checking gefragt und hatte Glück, dass es genehmigt wurde und mein Filme entsprechend nicht gescannt wurde.

      @@KarinMajoka Ach schade, ich hatte gehofft, es gibt mittlerweile eine adäquate Lösung für das Problem. Gut dass du so durch die Kontrolle gekommen bist. Bei der Menge an Filmen die du dabei hast, ist dir sicherlich ein Stein vom Herzen gefallen.

      Actually not too much. The film prices were rather expensive and I had more than enough rolls with me :)

    Typical, 15,000 dollars worth of gear and film only to shoot mediocre snaps like this ? i guess you do need 60 rolls of film with that kind of hit rate. I thought film was supposed to make you slow down and think about your shots and really consider things?
