    One of the most important parts of improving your origami as well as enjoying the folding process! Thanks for talking on this!

    Yes, exactly!! I completely changed how I folded recently - slowed everything down a ton. Patience and taking time is most important part. I always try to fold a model perfectly first go, I hate redoing models that don’t look good. Also I recently folded my first Kota model - pretty complex and it was harder cause Kota hadn’t even folded it himself. I spent over a month on it taking my time and going slow- the result? Super clean and especially for paper thickness it was Agua papel not tissue. Anyways yeah I go slow and it’s helping a ton. Don’t focus on speed just make something that looks good and your proud of it. Try to make it better then the designers. Also grant you should make a tutorial on how you efficiently precrease like showing how you do it - it’s a bit annoying for me to do

    Nice vid! Also, I'm thinking about buying some loopchi... What models should I fold with it? I like the sound of the ancient dragon 2.0...

      @@edoardo69yearsago88 no most of it has sold already, loopchi is very thin so mostly suited for insects or models that have alot of layers or need thin paper, il be putting more up soon and paper for the ancient dragon aswell

    I only have single tissue paper and no glue, what are some origami models i can fold with tissue

    • @fusion3953
      @fusion3953 3 года назад

      You can fold almost anything, I don't use glue on models but shape it artistically by hand with no other aid.

    Nice general advice, but personally I've had a different experience when it comes to getting better at origami. When starting out, I would generally prioritize speed over precision. The reason is so that I can fold more models in the same amount of time and thus gaining way more experience, which is one fo the most important factors to getting better. This is especially true when you're doing Box pleat models, as precreasing can sometimes just take forever. I've heard of people who spend hours on folding a 48 grid, which is just stupid when it can easily be done under 10 minutes. Even as a noob, having a grid unit slide over a bit is not going to be detrimental on your fold. Furthermore, precreasing does not help you improve much in the long run.
    With reversing the precreases, I'm sure it is useful in some situations where you have thick paper and a complex collapse, but I'm sure that in most BP models, it is generally not needed. Reversing your folds can overwork and destroy your paper, if you're poor like me and have no access to rich ass paper. Once your accuracy improves, you will only need to precrease the grid without the diagonal lines, and I can say that it saves SO much time. Improving your accuracy only comes from one way: Folding a lot. I'm sure that precreasing helps a bit, but in the end they are only folds which you follow when collapsing. They are definitely not necessary for the majority of BP models. (I would say up to Kota Imai level)
    But, this advice is for improving at boxpleat origami. Its probably not that suitable for 22.5 where you actually need to be more precise and accurate. Also, folding fast is pretty useful but it can be a bit draining and burns you out. Well unless you're totally obsessed with origami like me lol

      Matthew Winangun Great comment!!, i never fully or really prioritised anything when i started but as i got better, things started to fall in place so ended up doing what i thought would make parts easier.
      For the grid, you never need to be precise as you wouldnt not usr the full diagonals and can always be touched up in shaping, but taking your time to avoid creasing parts that dont need creases are a must to me, dont know how many people do it, whether or not it gets noticed in the final results or not by others but makes a massive difference in the end but costs alot of planning haha.
      And for the reversing creases, i personally truly think its a MUST DO for all models, its something ive always done, i think i first started doing it when using single tissue, mostly only did it for thin papers but now i do it for everything. Not sure if you do it or not but give it a try if you dont, creases literally fall into place without effort and is a game changer in my eyes

      @@FearlessFlourish yes that does make sense, as I've heard of people complaining how you can see the grid on larger surfaces of models.
      With reversing creases, I use foil most of the time, so reversing creases is kind of tedious. its easier to just fold without the precreasing than with, which is probably where my "no precreasing" habits started.
