      Whenever I reread the Harry Potter series I think of my personal "fan fiction" which ever since I first read the series I thought of with a few tweaks over the years.
      Anyway in that "fan fiction" I came up with a wand maker who also had a unique crafting process, you could get multi-core wands and even use other materials for the outside. In the story I have a Dragonbone Wand with a multi-core of Werewolf Fur, Griffin Feather, and Unicorn Hair twining those together.
      The process the maker uses is brings out individual samples of the various materials and sees if they react to your presence then selects those exact materials and crafts your personal wand, it could take up to a week to craft the wand initially then another week if you purchase the service, customizing the appearance for you. He also crafted magical staffs in a similar way.

    • @MountainFisher
      @MountainFisher 2 года назад +5

      @@morrigankasa570 Seems like you'd have a conflicted wand as those three species do not get along with each other. It would be an excellent mind experiment though just to try. Could be a good story maker and possible Deus 'ex Machina' storyline.

    • @morrigankasa570
      @morrigankasa570 2 года назад +6

      @@MountainFisher Maybe some conflict but I think of it as balanced.
      Werewolves are fierce, strong, and fighters.
      While Unicorns likely flee from conflict still strong but gentle.
      Then Griffins are proud, fierce when threatened, yet can be peaceful when tamed/trust you. So those things all balance each other and the Dragonbone helps contain the power because Dragons are extremely powerful and difficult to tame/control yet can keep the population of other creatures under control.

    Hey Harry Potter Theory!
    I was wondering the following :
    In fantastic beasts we can see Dumbledore as well as McGonagall dress pretty modern for the time being. In contrast to that they're choosing kind of old fashioned and traditional pieces in the 90s. This also applies to other teaching characters of less reputation within the genre. I've been wondering about popular modern "sustainable" materials in wand making. Or repurposed wood. I love wand lore and one of the things is that not all wood from all species of trees works. I would imagine : Beech, pine, bamboo, walnut and oak would be common and easily accessed woods in today's world. Another wandmaker is from a fan-made Australian wizarding community. Near *Kurrajong School of Thaumaturgy* is *Bruce “Bunyip” Bundy’s Wand Shoppe,* where he makes a wand unique to the Land Down Under.

    🪄Boomawands, are bent like primitive boomerangs, having a magical core. They can be wielded as either. Throw the wand at an opponent and it twirls away, affects the spell you sent as it gets within range of the opponent, and magically returns to your hand. When not in use, it shrinks into a charm smaller than your pinky, to be worn on a necklace, bracelet, keychain, or clipped to a belt loop, zipper, buttonhole, etc.
    🪄Bundy's Wand Shoppe is a large, airy room with rows of wide, flat drawers, holding unclaimed boomawands. Bruce takes a few measurements, asks a few questions, and selects a few wands he thinks might suit you. You are led out the back door into an open field. Bruce shows you how to hold the weapon and encourages you to give it a toss.
    ✈Some may drop from your hand like a lead stick. Others may fly off and not come back for hours. Now and then a boomawand will swirl around, coming back to the thrower and bonking you in the head! A rare few times the thrower has been knocked out cold!
    ✈Then there is that perfect matching when the wand flies away, describing a perfect twirling arc through the air, and comes back to nestle in its new owner's hands.
    🦘Wand cores in Australia are often locally sourced and rarely cause any permanent damage to the creature. No dragon heartstrings here! "Hairs & scales from noses to tails… and other stuff here & there."
    🐨Bruce “Bunyip” Bundy uses these items inside his boomerang-shaped wands: Acromantula hair, Augurey tail feather, Billywig stinger, Bunyip scale, Dropbear ear hair, Erumpent tail hair, Graphorn toenail, Griffin tail hair, Hippogriff tail hair, Kneazle whisker, Opaleye scale, Ramora scale, Tasmanian Devil whisker, Weta feeler, & Yowie hair.

    Then is the "Wand chooses the caster" exclusively a Ollivander thing? Like during the wand making process he adds an enchantment or charm to make the wands seek out their "rightful" owner, or something like that, since Ollivander was the one who started that trend.
    Then it's possible that a wand not created by Ollivander isn't as "picky" about their owners, and since Ollivander doesn't have a monopoly on wandmaking, then the "wand chooses the caster" is more of a widely accepted "public opinion" and not actual truth within the Potter Universe?

    Ollivander claiming that his wands are the best is the equivalent of Apple claiming they are the best. It has to do with a strong marketing campaign. You can produce an inferior product , but if you say it is the best, you will convince enough people of that. I'm sure the Ollivanders produced fine wands, but superior to the rest? After watching this I wish making your own wand was part of Hogwarts legacy that would have been a cool thing to add for making beasts more useful and being able to build wands for certain play styles and them be something you replace and upgrade over time as you get access to new cores and materials. You could probably add growing small trees into the room of requirement as part of herbology as well.

    "Vast wizzarding world"
    ...well, it is not actually that vast. If we consider that there are about 10 pupils in one house for every year at hogwarts this means that there are 280 pupils at Hogwarts (I know, suprisingly few to inherite such a large castle). I know this is only a rough estimate, but it brings the point across. If we now consider that Wizzard on average reach an age of 150 and multiply that by the 40 pupils every year, we can estimate that there are around 6000 Wizzards in Britain at any point in time. So the wizzarding world is not that vast.
    Fun fact, this means that more than 94000 wizzards would have had to visit England from other countries to visit the Quidditch world cup, which is rather ridiculous.

      Next you need a very volitile time sensetive component the core. while sugar works very well for an Abraxxon or unicorn Raw meat works for Thestrals, hippogryphs , and thunderBirds.
      Then you must get to work and make your wand quickly as the core will degrade. some may melt like butter in a hot pan but other cores can explode like a nuke!
      Even if everything goes right I've seen it go very wrong may student's died while I was there. because of wand or core failure. during testing.
