  • I HAVE BEEN SEEING AN ODD TREND OF BRIGGS 6HP ENGINE INTAKE PIPE FAILS ON AT LEAST 3 SEPARATE ENGINES THIS YEAR ALL HAD THE SAME PART BREAK AND ALL HAVE THE SAME ENGINE MOD. NO. & SAME APPLICATION SETUP BEING ON A WOOD CHIPPER OR A LOG SPLITTER. ALL MOUNTING BOLTS WERE TIGHT FROM ENGINE TO MACHINE AND ALL BOLTS IN AND AROUND THE CARB WERE ALL TIGHT NOTHING WAS LOOSE, I'M THINKING THERE IS A RASH OF BAD PARTS OR PARTS THAT WERE NOT MADE FOR THIS APPLICATION SINCE I HAVE ONLY HAD TO REPLACE 1 INTAKE PIPE ON A BRIGGS LAWN MOWER IN 8 YRS AND IT WAS CAUSED BY THE CUSTOMER STEPPING ON THE CARB. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS SEEN THIS PLEASE ISSUE CONFIRM AND IF THERE IS AN UPDATED PART NO. OR IF YOU CAN RETROFIT A OLDER METAL INTAKE PIPE.

I broke mine TWICE on my lawnmower in the last three years. I hooked the carb on my kids' slide mowing underneath it. They are pretty hard to get these days, 2023.
I put a 3/8" copper pipe inside the straight pipe to help reinforce it. Snug and so far, so Good!

I have a Briggs 6.75 mower and the part of the intake tube that sticks out, that the O ring goes on, has a chunk out of it. I’ve had a really difficult time starting the mower, despite replacing the carb, so I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it....

I've been finding a lot of broken manifolds on the 3.5-6HP Briggs lately, if they're not broken you can see cracks starting to form. Is their a metal alternative out there somewhere?
