Anytime I hear Saxon I immediately think of London 2005. I was 22, visiting the country for the first time on vacation. My last day there, I was standing outside of a shop on Queensway, wearing an Iron Maiden Killers hoodie and this middle aged bald fella walked past me wearing a Saxon Wheels of Steel Hoodie. We looked at each other and grinned and he walked up to me and said in a very thick Cockney accent " It's great to see young people with good tastes!" And I laughed and said in my hickass accent " Hell yeah buddy!" And we shook hands lol
In Lund, southern Sweden 1982, Iwatched Saxon for the first time. The had performed in Stockholm the day before and the concert was delayed 2 hours due to slippery roads farther north. Several thousand fans shouted "we wan't Saxon, we want Saxon", and as the doors finally opened, the ticket guards had not a chanse. And what a concert it was. Biff: "Anyone here who likes Human League ?" -crowd reply "NOOOOOOO !" He then wondered "Are there any Barry Manilow fans here today ?" - With the same reply, naturally. And then - "Are there any SAXON fans here today ?" - YEEEAAAAH ! Biff really spellbound the Lund crowd some day in November 1982.
I remember my 1st time (sound like a virgin, don't I???LOL!).It was a little bar in Detroit called Blondies in 2011. It was AWESOME but sad at the same time. There were less than 100 people, maybe even only 50-75, but it WAS a Sunday night. We were only 10ft away from the stage and not even crowded! The sad part was knowing that these guys headline festivals all over Europe with 25-50,000 people so to for the band to see this small of a crowd must have been disappointing. But the boys still put on a great show!
Had the pleasure of playing this with Quinny, Graham Oliver and Nibs at Barnsley Cricket Club rock night way back in the early 90s, the guys from Saxon were guesting with my band Madhouse. Quinny played with us for about 6 months around London while Saxon were on a break from touring and the gig in front of his home crowd marked him going back out on the road and leaving us. Happy days!!!
I was reading alot about the Haneda accident on aviation message boards... yes everybody were discussing the role of the lights, ground lights were OK but it is still not known if the small coast guard plane had his wing lights on before gettin' smashed by the landing Airbus
I am lucky enough to have seen Saxon a number of times; especially during the NWOBHM period in the 80's, but of all the memories there is one that stands out; they were playing The Monsters Of Rock (Open Air) at Donnington , they were playing this (747 Strangers in the Night) and in the middle of it Biff walked over in front of the HUGE Bass Bins and stuck his head into one of the bins, and God they were LOUD!!!!!. Great day. I remember The Scorpions stepping in for someone else at the last minute and they too played a Stormer But I remember the headliners Rainbow came on and after about 2 songs everyone started leaving because they really just didn't 'Turn Up'. Some fans down the front started throwing cans & stuff at the stage and Blackmore throwing a strop.
Just discovered this. What an absolutely epic video. I'm 48, and it encapsulates everything and every emotion I felt when hearing this song as a teenager in the 80's. Absolutely magic. Thanks to all involved 👍
I lost count how many times I saw Saxon in the 70’s😩 The Barnsley barnstormers - or something like that. They were the band always supporting some other band and never received the recognition they rightly deserved…🤔 watching this video, the musicianship and Biffs vocals are absolutely outstanding. Excellence 🫡🫡
Finally got to see them in 2011 after 2 failed attempts and have seen them every tour since, except 2015 for the 3rd failed attempt when my girlfriend crashed her motorcycle the day b4 I was to travel from near Toronto to Detroit to see them and Armored Saint and a tour up to the U.P. Didn't think it would be right to leave her to take off on my bike for a 5 day roadtrip when she ended up staying 2.5 months. Saw them 5 times in the last 9 years and they never fail to deliver!
This was propably saxon & motörhead last gig together ever, girlschool was also on the bill. 3rd last motörhead gig i think? I was there. bittersweet memory.
Excellent work from the Yorkshire metal men & Nigel is an excellent drummer...Loved these guy's from Sheffield since early 80s!!! Long Live Saxon!!!✌🤘💙
I'll never forget that concert in Aarhus Denmark 2016 I was front stage with a friend Biff saw us and wore his battle vest on stage good times hope I can see them again since I don't live there anymore
Brings back so many memories of being 14 and listening to this on my Walkman in my bedroom in the 80’s.
I was doing this with my Walkman disc player in the 90's 🤣
😂🤘🤘
Did you have Kim Wilde on your wall, though ?
@@skipmole612he'll no mate. Samantha Fox or Linda Lusardi.
Biff never ever lost the voice..unlike a lot of vocalists from back then...his kinda got deeper and with no loss of power.👍
If needed just change the key, nothing wrong with that. Sinatra did it.
TOM ARAYA SCREAMED HIMSELF HORSE!
Biff still got it. Impressive
Until he tried to front motorhead ! Dog shite
And you can understand the words, instead of a slur like Vince Neil
70 years of age and I’m still rocking to Saxon 🇬🇧💕 Keep safe x
