Here's a few more tips if you're still struggling with latency. Tip 1: Adjust the input recording latency (the clock icon, top right corner of the effects rack). This will automatically compensate for any delay so that your recorded audio line up on grid (as long as you set the correct value of course). Tip 2: Latency will be project specific (depending on plug-ins), solo the metronome and record to figure out your latency (check latency in Edison, samples or ms) and adjust compensation. Tip 3: Use direct monitoring if your interface supports it for true 0-latency. Tip 4: Use a monitor track if you want to hear effects, do not route to master, route directly to your interface (external output). Mix tips to taste.
@@mindaxiom3651 To be honest, it's the most important one (should've been #1) as it essentially makes your recording insert independent of your project latency i.e. you get feedback latency equal only to the plugs on that insert (but make sure "Compensate for master latency" is off). Good luck!
@@Foreverpraisegod With monitor track (or insert rather) I mean a recording insert that is output directly to your interface output rather then passing through master. The benefit is that feedback will be unaffected by the latency of the project i.e. only the latency from plugs on the insert matters, and your buffer size. So, disconnect the rec insert from master and select you audio output instead. Then, to get proper placement of the recorded audio in the playlist, select "Set from...Master" as track latency (the clock icon at the bottom of the mixer insert).
Brooooo. This is exactly what I needed!! My recording process was always way to long this is going to save me so much time !!!. You are the man don't ever stop doing what your doing 👌
u can also fix the latency by hitting the small clock icon on a rec mixer track n set to ms, i do 42 based on my pc but you would have to fine your sweat spot for yours
I had no idea about Pre v Post regarding recording the effects! I'm happy to have yet another tool in my box. I'm very close to just going for it when I feel that mood ...... I'm absorbing as much knowledge as I can but that 5 senses driven by emotional candy is what turns my creative switch on and off. This will allow me to just hop in without getting lost in the effects which causes my creativity to get more lost in the screen type stuff......
Wish I could subscribe twice. I love when youtubers are clear and concise with the information the are sharing. You represent yourself well bro. If you create more RUclips videos that cover everything essential for recording, beat making (the whole works), I know you will have alot more traffic to your channel bro. Proud of you.
Yo That was some game you gave there with the pre/post knob. I always used to route the slot and add effects to the routed one so they don't record on the vocal. Thanks Bruv!
dude you are awesome, at first i didn't know the pre and post option, so what I did was I always created a separate recording channel then another channel for the effects.. you saved my cpu usage lol.
Make a Tutorial on how to balance different inconsistent vocals take, to put them at the same levels/gain before start adding eq,compression to the process
Hey man, I was frustrated with workflow tonight and this video solved all of my problems! I was recording with edison because I didn't know about the Pre/Post settings. I hope FL has a future update focused on vocal tracking too lol... Do you use any unison plugins with your Apollo or just the stock FL "low latency" plugin method? Do you keep console up in the background or just load into it once and close it? What is your target peak for tracking vocals and do you go by console the console meter or FL meter? Do you use two templates? Like one for tracking and one for the production and do you just render it out and import it into the production template??? I have so many questions but even if you don't see this or respond, I really appreciate your videos. Thanks a lot dude.
Brooo the loop recording will help so much with adlibs and harmonization cause you can just do it a few times and pick the best one without having to record 3 separate vocals! Thank you! Still having a latency issue but I believe it’s bc I have a usb mic!? If anyone knows the answer to that I’d appreciate it! Also how did you get all your fx presets on the mixer track like that without having to put them all on one by one?
from an experience, it is possible to record on FL studio with pretty much no latency even with a 2 core machine. You just need a decent audio interface, nothing too fancy.
this nigga just changed my life🥺 literally 0 latency!! like and subscribed.. well deserved

I've had many people try and explain to me what prefader is and you are the only person to successfully help me understand prefader!
So great. Can't believe how many clips I had to dig through to get the straight up on latency. Thanks.
click on the magnet, and from there you can adjust how the tracks snap onto the grid. if you want it to be each 1/4 of a bar, click "line"

That's super useful for recording backing vocals! 😁🙏🔥.
