Thanks for taking the time to do the leg work and make this tool a success first time out. Will definitely give it a shot when my Ortho gives out but so far it keeps spraying away. I can see the advantage of ease of container attachment.
Keep your Ortho. I have had 2 Chapins that leaks one up from the connection, look like a connection, but isn't. Sure my neighbors got a kick seeing this. I am going for the Ortho.
The Chapin with the K1 nozzle is the best I’ve found (or anything with the K1 head for that matter). Great consistent pressure and there’s no sputtering when you get close to the end.

Nice vid John! Was thinking of you today spraying in my sanders with my ortho. Of course it was sputtering it’s way through half the bottle. Was thinking about this sprayer as well and going to pick one up:). Cheers bud
I have used both of these brands hose end sprayers and for ease of use I'll take the Ortho sprayer over the Chapin for one simple reason. The Ortho has a trigger you can squeeze and adjust flow rate by how much you depress the trigger. The Chapin just has an on/off valve that can be difficult to switch on and off when you have protective gloves on and as you are trying to turn it off water is still spraying out while on Ortho, you just stop pressing the trigger which is much safer and easier to use.
Newbie here. I’m about a year and a half in to a lawn renovation. I’ve accumulated several gadgets and chemicals in efforts to eliminate weeds and nurture grass. I’ve been using a four gallon back pack sprayer to apply prodiamine (preemergent) and Celsius (herbicide) over an acre and it’s a lot. Have you used this gadget in a similar task? Do you feel the mixing/application is suitable for the job? It seems like it would be a lot easier and faster using the hose end sprayer over the back back sprayer. I’m a woman and that thing gets heavy filling it a dozen times a day for big jobs. I bought the Chapin hose end sprayer today to feed my vegetable garden but I’m now considering it’s use more broadly. I’d love your feed back. Oh, and I subscribed! Thanks a million. Gretchen in Nashville.
Nit picking here but these hose-end sprayers should make the bottom concaved so that centered "straw" can suck up most everything when it's channeled into middle. Then just make bottom thicker a little to allow it to stand up if needed. I'm sure that's more cost than they want though.
First time i finished too soon... That's what he said. Chapin products are in that weird zone where they are better than most but definitely not professional. This product fits perfectly for them! Do you still have the Petra?

I have to be honest. The Anderson’s Refillable multipurpose hose end sprayer 32 oz two pack for $18.99 on Amazon is the best thing I have found to use your products in.
1. Are you still filling up the remaining space with water? As in only spraying 3oz of RGS let's say, putting 3oz in then filling the remaining 29oz with water. 2. I've been using the Ortho's dial as my "flow rate". I typically set it at 3oz understanding I'll have more time to spray 1k. If I need to move quicker I just up the dial. Does the Chapin operate like this as well? Thanks!
1. He is not diluting it with 29 oz of water. 2. I believe that the chapin has a lower total flow and doesn’t have a setting as high as the ortho. I believe you can adjust it to feed your product at a slower rate if you need to. Note: I have only used ortho.
Hi John, first time commenting on your channel. Have been applying your products now for 2 seasons and it really has been amazing, my turf is getting thicker and staying greener longer and I am pretty proud of my yard. With that said I still struggle with these damn sprayers, sometimes the product comes out brown ( witch I like) but other times the water comes out clear and I wonder if it’s working? I can’t deny my grass is doing better but I wish there was a better way to apply. I will try this sprayer and see how it goes. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. Really enjoy your channel and your products.
I have an Ace hose end sprayer-looks much like the Chapin and has a thumb switch with two markings: wet and dry. I'm assuming wet is for a liquid application; dry for a powdered application or product. Am I correct?
How do you use this for plants? For instance, if I pour 4 teaspoons of dry miracle grow in the filter and set the yellow dial for 4 tsp is that right? Also when will I know when to add more plant food?

There isn’t a way you can do that with this sprayer. In order to do one to one, you would need to be able to pull out one full gallon of material per 1 gallon of water that passes through. This sprayer will let 2 gallons per minute out.
It looks like a nice sprayer, but why couldn't they get the flow to either 1 GPM, or 2 GPM? Something that makes mental calculations easy. 1.5 GPM?!? I can't do that math in my head. :-( Not sure if I'll give it a go or not, but thanks for the rates info.
