Walked 8 miles yesterday, called in a spike. Walked 10 miles today and got a young bull to respond but no success. The last video was very encouraging to me as a Christian and also as a hunter that has not shot a bull yet either. Been chasing them and have had some awesome encounters with a handful of bulls and a poor shoulder bone shot as well. Thanks guys 🤙🏼
I could never get tired of watching these videos! The highs and lows happen to all of us and will continue as long as we have the strength to hunt. It’s awesome to see a sportsman go to God in prayer and thank Him for all the joy we get from Him and His creations! God bless y’all and keep y’all safe!!
Never gets old! Congratulations to all of you. Thanks to Steve for taking us on such a special hunt. I can't imagine the pressure he put on himself just to pull a tag like that, but then to have a camera crew on your shoulder as well...
Blood trails can be so deceiving. I shot cow @ 5 yards 1 drop dead 150 yards. Shot cow little high bled so much but eventually stopped bleeding but she never stopped or layer down. Follow as long as you can. End of the day elk are tough animals.
44:17 is hard to watch; that type of elation should be reserved for better shooting. You took a shot on a walking bull, hit 3 feet left (at 25 yards, oof) in the ham, and blamed it on him stepping and your wind shifting. The third hit wasn't a double lung like you indicated, but rather a nasty high spine hit. Thankfully, your second shot found its mark and the bull bled to death somewhat quickly after being paralyzed. We owe it to our quarry to have a better understanding of what's going on, and control our emotions accordingly, especially in front of the whole world here on RUclips.
Tanner , could not agree more .... just about anybody with bow experiencia can smoke a standing Bull at 25 yards .... he is jumping like a jelly bean , I wouldn't show this Hunt at all .... very bad shooting ....blames the wind ,Bull moving but he made no attempt to stop the Bull.... cody should teach him about kill zones
@@davidlaing4728 I don't know that I'd go so far as to say that shot shouldn't have been taken, even if the bull was walking. That was a big one, and I'd take that shot 100 times out of 100. But consider: the lungs on a broadside elk are about 18" left to right and 12" up and down. That's an extraordinarily large target at 25, and odds are for the average archer, even if he misses bad, the arrow would find both lungs. Steve didn't just miss bad, he missed horribly. I understand that to a definite point; the woods behind my practice target are full of wayward arrows. But I would expect someone who put even a moderate amount of time into practice shooting could do better than that far left on a bull that close, which seems to indicate a lack of effort. And if there was no lack of preparation effort, and he really can't do better than 6' (yes, foot) groups at 25 yards, he should find a different hobby. And even if we cede all of the above, even if we assume that this was just a really bad day for Steve, the main point here is the dominant emotion after taking an animals life in *that* way should look much, much different than it did.
You would hope there would be some reverence after wounding and making that bull suffer…I understand that it’s hunting and sometimes these situations happen. I just feel that when it does happen, there should be some respect/sorrow for the animal. Save the excitement for later.
I have shared this video with several other elk Hunters. Steve buck fever is so bad . First arrow at 25 yards , horrible shot no attempt to stop the Bull, Steve was counting inches and just wanted that Bull and made him suffer .... 2nd shot even worse, not even close to a kill zone. 3rd shot thank goodness "" you smoked him " ... of course you did that big traget could hardly walk .... disgracefull. If that had been cody or trevor you would not have seen that reaction of torture to a Bull. In the 50's and 60's there was this toy where crank the handle the lid open and this clown comes out . When I see you jumping up and down with excitment you remind of that clown. That kill was nothing to be proud about it , yes nice rack but your ecxitment is so uncalled for . I hope to run into you day and say all this to you again .... I wish this Hunt was taken down , but it is a day good reminder on NOT WHAT DO WHILE BULL HUNTING ...... NOT A CLASS ACT ...I even think cody should a little disapointment during the Middle.
I know that some of my fellow hunters are going to come down hard on me but at age 87 as a retired world class archer , Olympic archery coach, over 💯 archery deer kills , I just have that gut feeling that Steve doesn’t have that ultimate closure ability to make it happen. This has happened before in the hills with a beautiful bull, freezing cold and arrows flying everywhere except in the kill zone.. Jason was present.. I feel out of place commenting but what you did bothers me . There is no room for any excuse here . It is very difficult to make that very important decision to loose that arrow. I have the utmost compassion for you Steve, but you made the elk suffer…
I’ve watched this numerous times. Just me, with the grandkids; it just doesn’t get old! Thanks for sharing!

Love your shows even if there old stuff
Getting the gear ready for this weekend opener of antilope.👍👍👍👍👍
Lmao “that last arrow smoked him” I’d stick to shooting TAC and foam targets. 3 arrows? 3 freaking arrows? Yikes

I've had terrible experiences helping people track deer that they hit in the brisket. Bleed buckets for 200+ yards, never go down, don't die from it.
Haha 2019 just a bit late
What happened to Wes anyway
Why does sloppy Steve put a Reed in his mouth but never calls with it ?

Thought the same thing. Steve’s known for his reactions though so it really isn’t surprising.
Agree. First shot was one not to take. Got lucky to find him….

Please take me hunting with you!!! I’d love to kill an elk with my bow

Very unethical shot at that 1st bull.
