Great review. I'm also coming off of a KTM 350 XCF and looking to get this exact bike! Can't wait to throw a leg back over a 2 stroke

Great video......probably the best I've seen explaining and comparing this bike to others. I also have the 350 XCF and also own the 23 300XC. I think for 25 I will get this bike. Thank you!!

Same here, I go the 23 450xcf and the 23 300xc and will sell the 300 and wait until next year and try to pick up a deal on a leftover 24 300xcw when the 25's come out

It took me one oil change but then ... dohhh!!! Lean the right grip up against your garage door, put the stand up , and then take out the 8mm with a battery drill. Then put the stand back and do the other three.
I bought a 2023.5 XCF Factory last spring thinking it was going to be my trailbike. But wow...no way. Way too hot!!! Its now my MX bike, and works better then my old 2019 sxf350 on the track. Love everything about it accept using in tight single-track. So now looking at an XCW.
You can't ride these things until you buy them, so thanks for the report here. I now have my name on a 24 300 Hard Enduro at my local shop.

That Wisconsin accent is prime brother 💪🏼. Great vid. Your description of how controllable it is down low, makes this bike very tempting. My four stroke Kawi is hard to control in any sense of the word at low rpm. Feels like it goes from 0-100 with the slightest twist of the throttle. I ride a lot of desert and open area, so it’s fine. Woods riding and technical terrain is tough though.

id really like to get a KTM 300 XCW I ride a SXF 250 now and its next to impossible to ride in the woods. but on the open trail its amazing

Great video, you cleared up my concerns about a 2 stroke power delivery. I'm considering one of these and currently have a crf450x. I was worried about an on/off power delivery typical of 2 stroke, but haven't had the opportunity to ride one of these newer ones. I think for the riding I do the 300 will be less tiring and easier to ride

Just bought a '24 300 XC-W. I came from a 2006 Wr450f and a 2006 CRF450x also. Never ridden a 2 stroke but I gave myself no option as the terrain I ride is mountain single track and when 9 out of 10 riders are on Austrian 2 strokes, they must be on to something. My CRF450x was tuned beautifully and was an absolute animal. But the on/off throttle was absolutely miserable. It was either no throttle or too much and it bucked back and forth in rough riding. The WR was a much better and smoother bike but that's another story. You'll here folks on RUclips describe the smooth usable power, but until you experience it like I did it's truly hard to capture. You can lug it down so slow and it just takes it. No vibrations, no bucking, no stalling. Its seriously a game changer and I have 0 regrets getting it. All my bikes are street legal also, so another concern was riding miles on the road. Everyone says it's miserable, but honestly it's better than my 4 strokes. With the 6th gear I can get where I need to on road with no issue. And also, when people say that the XC-W makes less power than the XC, do not let this sway you. The XC-W still absolutely rips. Banging through the gears in a clearing makes me giggle like an idiot. It's comparable power to the 450s but just different how it goes. And it speaks volumes that I've sold both my 450s and kept my DRZ400 as my do it all bike. In my case the 300 XCw was easier to justify as I was riding dinosaurs but can see if your already riding a 19-22 KTM the purchase would be harder to justify but I am over the moon with mine.

    I’m like you,
I’ve been on a bunch of bikes over the years. I’ve got 35 hours on my 24 te300. I second what you say. The fuel tank and range has been a big issue for me. Basically 24mpg and 35 miles the light comes on and 45-50 your empty with appx .2 gal left in the tank

Thanks for the review and opinions. I might really like this as long as I don't have to ride.behind one. Had an older carbodel and then went Sherco 300 4s. It seems like KTM is trying to make a 2s version of a 4s bike which might get me back. Still I am going to be crazy and check out the new electrics coming out especially the 3/4 size bikes at under 200 lbs..

Did you know there is a $15 fitting with a hose connected so when you unscrew the oil bolt, you screw the fitting with the hose connected and it drains right into your used oil bottle. You never have to remove the skid plate. You can also use an old water bottle or but you never have to remove the skid plate.

The 2024 Cross Country's won't have the stator to handle additional electronics. They are leaning towards MX with lightness and stiff springs for speed. I rode a 2023 250 XC and 150 XC-W. Both rentals and they were my first time riding a day a piece. They can both take off with a 210lb rider if you aren't careful on the throttle, but the 250 XC wasn't holding back any punches. They are only 25lbs difference, but a beginner probably won't notice until they have to pick it up. The 150 had noticeably plusher suspension while the 250 felt like it had steel rods for front forks comparatively. It was probably adjusted stiff to slow people down or keep them from losing it, but I did not adjust them, so I do not know.

I prefer my 22 husky tpi's snapiness for the type of riding i do. But my 24 xcw does seem to run way smoother tho. The updated suspension is amazing

You can get your ecu reflashed for 300.00 and it will get better mpg and better throttle response.

How do you like the PDS shock vs linkage?

    • @joeb2829
      @joeb2829  Месяц назад +1

PDS has gotten worlds better in the last 10 years, I thing the pds is perfect stock, I dont miss the linkage, but I dont ride track anymore. If you ride track OR are a B or A rider then get the XC with linkage. But for the average C rider or trail rider the pds is more then capable for whooped out single track in 2nd or 3rd gear. 4th gear whoops or faster get the xc, thanks for stopping by

I see you have a 24' 250 on your channel. The 250 has known issues with the stock mapping, no known issues on the 300 yet
