I said Norm MacDonalds quote about cancer at my grandfathers wake, my happiest moment is collectively seeing my great aunts facepalm and say for Christ sake, but my uncles, and great uncles and my father and brothers all started hysterically laughing,
“I’ve always heard when you die to cancer you LOSE, but the way I see it, when you die, so does the cancer, that’s not a loss, that’s a draw”

The thing about SNL that most people don't recognize is that it's always been 10% hits and 90% misses. We look at all these classic clips from the golden era, but those are just the ones that hit.
Norm was different, though. His Weekend Update segment was always gold.

Bleeping curse words with the Bojack Horseman theme and memorializing Norm MacDonald!? I am in.
I actually did get to talk to Norm a few times in his last years. Almost purely because he just liked talking to people. Lovely person.

Dude, you severely undersold his stand-up, and he is IMO the actual GOAT. Find a way to watch or listen to Me Doing Stand-up. You will thank me.

I like to think that the dog interrupting you during the video was deliberate and a nod to Norm
I’m a die hard Norm fan and want to both congratulate and thank you for this gem of a video

That final View appearance was a bit of a bit. "I knew I said something unforgivable". You can tell that he was a bit shaken up from all the piling on though.

He’s definitely one of my favourite comedians. Even my 11 year old sister makes the “I didn’t even know he was sick” joke. He died less than a month before my dad. That was a rough time.

I will always love Norm for introducing Artie Lange and Howard Stern. Artie just tagged along for a Stern Show appearance and Norm talked Artie up so much, he was invited onto the show and it eventually lead to him being a long term cohost. Literally some of the funniest things I have ever heard have come from Artie and Howard back in 2003-2008. Without Norm, the never would have happened. Norm is easily one of the funniest people to ever live as well but his kindness and loyalty to his friend really stand out to me
He also was hyper intelligent which is absolutely insane. Dude pretty much maxed out every stat he needed. Intelligence, humor/charisma, kindness, and dude was handsome too. RIP
