When it comes to forgetting things Dave, I think that I would take first prize. Last year I drove for 1 hour to the start of a one day tramp, when I arrived I lifted the hatch back to get my pack and there was nothing there. so I drove back home and got it. It was sitting on the deck waiting for me. So Three hours later, I set off. No matter how good we are at planning, we can still forget things. Enjoyed the video Cheers from the mountains of NZ 😀😀
Really enjoyed this video Dave. It’s fascinating to watch you on your solo jaunts. Two things: the peace and all the gorgeous views. Fabulous. Look forward to next walk/camp 🙂🙂🙂
@0:03 Been to Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel many times...I used to deliver produce to them and many places around the lakes...Going there driving in towards Great Langdale was always a real treat on the eyes for me...
The Band is a slog, you're right...and you walk a lot faster than me! You've got a fair turn of speed on when pitching the tent too! 😆😉 I love the wine tip someone gave you. I immediately started thinking, have I got a water bottle big enough to carry a whole bottle of wine... imagine requesting one in a gear shop that's the right size?! 😉 It is frustrating when it gets clagged in but I must admit it's always quite atmospheric and somehow quite tranquil. I haven't been up Bowfell that way for ages - you've jogged me to go back there. Stunning photo of the view first thing - one of those photos which will always trigger a memory. And don't laugh (well, you can do if you want!) but another tip for your cracked fingertips/hands... moisturise! As always, thanks for sharing your trips, Dave, really enjoy the video and the relaxed natter in the tent, and I agree entirely - I'd rather be up there in whatever weather than anywhere else. I hope that was a dark chocolate roll!

Watched that Langdales Winter Wild Camp again Dave. Brilliant to look back and compare the same route you took up to Three Tarns and same pitch area but in totally different conditions. Never tire of watching your vids. Love them all.
heading up to the Lakes for a week later this month. Langdales will definitely be on the menu. Taking my Allak 3 - fortunately my partner carries the poles and pegs. Tent makers need to make them in half sizes so that you've got a of bit extra room. 1.5 person for a single person tent, 2.5 person for a 2 person tent etc. Unless you want the feeling that you're back in the womb! Thanks for the great content :)
Fantastic footage as always Dave, thank you! I would love to see a bonus video of your winter pack load-out at some point if you had the time! Looking forward to the next one already 💪 🔥
Great video mate ☺️ Have to agree the path up to bowfell was really tough also in 35 degree heat 🥵 we took a detour round the climbers traverse and on to the great slab, awesome walk. Great pitch and great video 👍 atb

Hi Dave, I said to decant the wine into a wine platy.... you said it was sacrilege!🤣🤣 Best tip I can give you on this video, is leave the wine at home!😲 It's bloody heavy and lowers the metabolic rate... therefore making you colder than you need be, dehydrates you and it's more likely you'll need a pee in the night. 🤔 Plenty more tips for you if you want them😂 Enjoyed the video, tek care Cheers Alistair 👍

Okay Dave, my main inspiration from this one? Go back to a previous pitch I’ve enjoyed. Never done it before! Done 25 camps in the lakes, all in different spots. Especially relevant given my last three camps have been problematic / nightmareish! I always take a soft canteen bottle with me. Purely to decant my piss 😂
Haha. Nice one Simon. I rarely go back myself but sometimes it just makes things easier when you just need to chill. Haha. The old piss decanting route. I know it well 😆👍

Nice vid as usual Dave. By the way i have just put an X mid 2 person with mesh inner on eBay that i have never used. If you are interested i can do you a good deal. Its a lot more room than the Duomid and its got 2 porches and 2 doors and its lightweight and handles the wind well too.
If you drive up on a Friday afternoon after work and camp on the mountain Friday night, do you usually drive back home on the Saturday afternoon? Are you not tempted to camp out on the Saturday night too, having driven all the way to the Lake District?
I did that quite a few times in the summer. I’m usually pretty knackered after one night after a trip to the mountains and very little sleep so just head home, sort all my kit out then back to work on Monday.

another great video Mr Solo! Gutted about you losing your buff 😥 nice to be able to get out and have a bit of head clearing time. That photo you took from the tent 👌🏻👌🏻 just wondering what you do for a job being able to leave midday on a Friday (i'm only jealous) :) x
Cheers Nic. I can only leave on Friday if I do extra hours in the week. I’m an engineer. Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏻
@@TheSoloSummiteer well it's nice that you're able to accrue the hours, certainly lovely to get an early finish on a Friday! :)
Always enjoy your vids👍.I was out at the weekend managed to dodge the clag with a move from borrowdale over to hartsop was the maiden voyage of my new niak and it was brilliant.im in the langdales in a cpl weeks looking forward to it.where did you get the wine bottle from looks a bit more robust than the 1 I use and I'd hate to spill mine or get a leak lol
Cheers Craig. Got it from Gaynor Sports in Ambleside 👍. Have a great trip 🏔️
@@TheSoloSummiteer cheers👍
Dave, what's the dark coloured Berghaus jacket I see you wearing at 10:50?
Berghaus Mens Pravitale 2.0 Fleece Jacket 👍
Moisturiser and luekotape if your fingers/hands crack up, as you describe; eczema does the same for me. Thanks for uploading, Dave. 🏴⛰👍
Cheers Nick 👍
Nice vid as usual Dave. By the way i have just put an X mid 2 person with mesh inner on eBay that i have never used. If you are interested i can do you a good deal. Its a lot more room than the Duomid and its got 2 porches and 2 doors and its lightweight and handles the wind well too.
Nice one Olan. I appreciate the offer but I’ve already got 5 tents on the go 🤦🏻♂️😁. ATB bud 🙏🏻
So, was one of the herdies wearing Your buff?
😆🐑
If you drive up on a Friday afternoon after work and camp on the mountain Friday night, do you usually drive back home on the Saturday afternoon?
Are you not tempted to camp out on the Saturday night too, having driven all the way to the Lake District?
I did that quite a few times in the summer. I’m usually pretty knackered after one night after a trip to the mountains and very little sleep so just head home, sort all my kit out then back to work on Monday.
@@TheSoloSummiteer ….yeah, that makes sense.
The lakes are around 7hrs drive for me though, each way, so I have to make more of a trip of it.
How are you finding the hilly
Love it 😎⛺️👍
What’s that wine plastic carrier, need. one
Platypus Duolock soft bottle 1 litre

When my fingers start cracking in cold weather I find O’Keeffe’s Working Hands really helps, not sponsored I buy my own.
Cheers Tony 👍
I'll watch later. I'm off to a live chat with TBP. See Yer

Looking at Your last impressions I ask myself why anyone would want to leave this place. And still we did.

A bigger tent is always better for winter camping
Yeah, defo 👍
Must get tiring holding your phone everywhere and not actually enjoying been outdoors
I do enjoy the outdoors. I love it 👍
Great vid as ever mate.
And yes. It’s a slog. Big time. Managed it with the kids last year and tbf to them they did wonderfully well. But they (and I) were at their limit towards the end. 🤣💪🏕️
Aye. Know what you mean 🥵😁👍
