- After my lunch stop just beyond Buckby Bottom Lock, I set off again with no more locks immediately ahead. Weather is a little unsettled, but it turns into a lovely evening, as I finish a long day’s cruising at Nether Heyford. This is a cruise on the Grand Union Canal from Yelvertoft Marina to Cosgrove, near Milton Keynes, which will involve passing through Watford Staircase Flight, Buckby Locks, Blisworth Tunnel and Stoke Bruerne Locks.

One of the widest and nicest canals we've seen. Usually we recognize places from watching the many NB' s we subscribe to, but don't remember seeing where you are.

What a lovely section of canal I can see why you like it. Watched a video yesterday of some motorhomers taking a weeks holiday on a narrow boat and they were on the stretch of canal where your marina is. Fully expected to see you go by lol

Love the video Alan, as always. Nice to see a wider view of Rugby Boats and Stowe Hill as I follow Rugby Boat Sales on RUclips. I enjoy watching the tours of pre-owned boats for sale even though I live across the pond and I couldn't stand up in most of them because I'm a little over 6'4" tall. I hope you're getting a little break from constant editing, I know how time intensive that is.

What a lovely stretch of water . . . Very beautiful and peaceful. Loved some of the canal side properties that must be worth a fortune. You never seem to get harassed by anything Alan . . . Some boaters can get agitated and stressed and even aggressive so do you think it’s down to sheer volume of traffic on the canals due to staycation . Anyway please keep doing what you are doing and take care out there.
Many thanks for your comment Mark. I think some boaters want to move about more quickly than they can at times and get flustered. Hire boats can be a problem, as they have a deadline to get the boat back and may travel too far and then need to rush. It's very difficult if you're new to boating, to know just how long it takes to move around. Cheers

Hi Alan not sure what happened to my questions, one was regards the signage on boats that show " No. 1" next to the boats name, and secondly, have you ever purchased anything on the canal from a Narrowboat Merchant? Cheers.
Just lost my reply. Will start again. Not sure I’ve seen that, usually the number is it’s build number. A Number One was a person who owned their own boat, as opposed to working for a freight company. I’ve never purchased from a fuel boat but have from a crafts boater.

Evening Alan, I can't tell you how much of a treat that was. We've made that trip from Weedon to Nether Heyford countless times, as a little day cruise and I must say I've always thought it to be one of the prettiest stretches of canal that you'll find anywhere. This video was spectacular. You are right, this section of canal is VERY beautiful and scenic.
Just curious about your solar panels and how much power they provide. Perhaps a short topic for a future video when you need to fill in some time. An update about your opinions on them, their effectiveness, your expectations vs the results??
Many thanks for your comment I enjoyed the latter part of this cruise very much. There’s not a lot I can say about the solar panels, as I’m not a techie. If I’m moored up and the sun is out they do a great job but if it’s cloudy not so good. They’re definitely worth having. Cheers
That was a lovely cruise, I did enjoy it, especially passing some of the more weird and wonderful boats, I often think to myself now that one would have suited me. You were lucky with the weather because I can remember May being a washout here in London. Loved the “Mad as a Hatter” boat! The only thing about owning one of these beautifully painted boats is that I would be mad as heck if it got scratched.
That's the issue with any boat that has a beautiful paint finish. If you're going to cruise, scratches are going to happen and annoying as it is, it must be accepted.
@@MyNarrowboatVenture I agree....if you’re going to spend all that money on a fancy paint job you can’t complain when you know what’s going to inevitability happen. I guess I’m too practical (cheap?) to spend money like that. I do like seeing them though!
My boat being one colour allows me to touch in the paintwork and not get too uptight about it. Scratches along the cabin are though very annoying.

Hi Willy, thanks for your great comment. Fishing has been quite topical today. Narrowboaters do fish when moored up but I've not seen anyone fishing whilst cruising, that would seem very unwise to me. I'm not into fishing, so I can't say any more. Cheers.

Hi Lynette, thanks for watching and commenting. The hours counter is a mystery, it's an 'add on' as the original one built into the control panel doesn't work. It has reset itself since then as well xx

Hi Dan, I sorted the rattle as soon as I got back, just had to add another layer of foam sealant. I actually wonder about the opposite, why do so many men fish, it's just not my thing!

Hi Alan. Those weather apps are pretty useless at the best of times. Have you ever used the Shipping Forecast to provide a truer report. In days gone by I would always had tuned in to get the latest update.

When you use your horn at blind turns etc, does a boat coming the other way stop & wait?
Many thanks Yvonne. Yes hopefully. If the boat replies to the horn, at least you know there is a boat there and I would certainly expect it to wait. Whereas, if I heard another boat's horn, I would wait. Cheers

I am curious why you do not have your cameras on charge all of the time?
I think you're suggesting that whilst filming the cameras should be charging. That's not possible with many cameras, as they cannot record whilst charging. The thought had crossed my mind but it can't be done with my cameras.
