  • Ep.12 Experiment with Caffenol
What if you could make your own silver film developer? A homemade coffee-based preparation that I'm eager to try.
My film photography has long included developing my black and white film. I enjoy the process of getting to the final photograph. When I decided to resume developing my films at home, I wondered about the environmental impact of my approach. I began to explore whether there might be greener, less toxic alternatives for developing my films. I discovered Caffenol, a homemade developer made from coffee, sodium carbonate and vitamin C. The seemingly straightforward application and readily available ingredients convinced me to give it a try. For this first attempt, I chose to follow the Caffenol-C-M recipe from the *Caffenol Cookbook*. The ingredients are simple and readily available: soluble coffee, soda crystals and vitamin C.
