Went out riding for the first time this year on my 250 The drive shaft and the rear axle broke and me and my dad had to fix it My dad had to find a weird way to weld it together to fix it so we didn’t have to spend $500+ dollars but it works perfectly fine now
The Sundahl designs definitely influenced their ideas. Unfortunately custom frames are pretty expensive so the idea of implementing some of this tech into bolt on kits is pretty clever. I can't wait to try a modern machine with their kit. Just seeing one of the Sundahl banshees would be amazing let alone watching one in action. I'd be nervous to ride one 😆😅🤘
Dam Pete, you can ride the hell out of anything! Thats a pretty sick quad. Just so happens im in Yuma right now. Ill be riding Buttercup the next 2 days.
Hehehe i have been waiting for this vid! I need all the info. What size tires, have they weighed it, what are the draw backs to such a complex suspension set up, when is it going to be available for the public, and how wide was it?😂😂
😅 well I’m sure the tires were 23’s and 22’s. I’m not sure how much the machine weighed but probably not much more than a standard TRX if it is heavier. There really isn’t a lot of draw backs to a set up like that if your free riding regularly. I think it would be a lot of fun to try out in a variety of situations. The bolt on kits are ready for YFZ450R’s and TRX450R’s. If you want to really learn about everything I would reach out to XTravel directly 👍
Pete, you should try out the Suzuki LTZ250 or the 400 My aunt has a 400 and I have a 250 I’m thinking about buying her 400 now that she has a side by side and I will need a bigger quad soon
I would love to ride one, it's been quite awhile. They're definitely the most advanced platform in the 400 class. If your aunts is in great shape it sounds like an awesome upgrade!
I have a kfx 400 it’s the same as the ltz 400 my makes 65 horse power and 42 pounds of torque it’s one of not many making this much power if you need any head porting done tho I took a stock z400 ported the head and made 11 horse power just off of a head
I'm assuming he had a Fox shock on the rear as well. I think this was a true no link set up in the rear. Unfortunately we didn't get a good walk around vide of the quad.. that was my bad 🤦♂️ XTravel has my rear YFZ shock right now for a revalving and were setting up their "no link linkage". I'm pretty excited to try it out!
Congrats on getting a Z400! I bet your stoked! 😬 I wish I could make these videos faster but there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes for the future. Maybe someday I’ll have an editor to help.. just subtitling this video took 8-10 hours 😅🤦♂️
@@gavinremer1450 yes no problem, I ride a trx 450, but I live in Canada, we don't have dunes, not something id put on my quad, but if I rode dunes constantly i probably would put it on.
@@piketerritory244 It's not worth it for duning either. These long travel kits really only benefit you in desert terrain with huge rocks and chewed up whoops. It's too soft for Glamis or any sand dunes for that matter. In the dunes you want more of an mx setup with paddles.
Hey Pete! I love your videos and know that this one is going to be great as always! 🤙👊 Just wondering, how often to you check the save sport quads email for quad of the day? I sent you an a email a few months ago for Instagram quad of the day.
Sundahl did that 30 years ago and still makes that type of shit to this day. That dude on this vid is profiting off another mans innovation and trying to take credit
All that for 15" of travel? Dean Sundahl was the pioneer of over center arms on a quad. His set up had 18-20. My trx front kit is totally bolt on, 4130 and plus 2.5" per side, has 14" travel with the stock showas
It's cool, but from far it sounds like it's kinda struggling going up the dunes, also its definently better to run paddles and razors or doughnuts on the front to plane the sand, that's the reason it doesent turn too hot.
Definitely great advice! Paddles would've helped a lot but this quad isn't exactly built for the sand dunes, its more for pounding out desert whoops and rough, rocky terrain.. It was still fun to ride nonetheless, it's set up really reduces ride fatigue 👍😊
@@PeteHager yeah I wasn't trying to bash the quad but that thing can definently be a duner if the owner gets front tires for sand and paddle just so it hooks up better.
@@manny.9273 I know you weren't 😊 It would be sick to implement this tech into a straight dune machine with some higher HP numbers 😲 I've been fantasizing about an XTravel Raptor 🤪
I think it would be easier to compare the weight if we did more jumping with it. Just riding it around it felt a little heavier then a regular 450 but it had so much traction that maybe that’s why I had that sensation. It was super smooth and predictable, I thought about it for weeks after riding it 🤪😅
I haven't done a lot of research on helmets. I know a lot of the brands comply to the same safety standards so as the price goes up they tend to just get lighter and lighter. Wish I could be of more help
@@cgib2600 Awesome! I've always been told that $100 helmet should protect you just as well as a $500. I'm sure in testing scenarios there could be increased safety benefits to the more top shelf helmets but you'll still be safe even with a cheaper one because of the safety standards they all meet 👍

Hey Mario, like the above comments the Honda 250EX is a great starter quad but if your an older person that’s bigger in size it may be too small for you. Starting in the 400 category could be more practical. Something a 400ex or Z400 would be an excellent starting machine as well 👍

Sick video$ would like to see the way it handles donuts and figure 8s. I want that for my gasgas quad. Will you do a pro bono suspension set up on it? Jk Not
Gear preference is up to the rider and the machine. The Raptor can be lugged around because it has so much torque. I enjoy 3rd gear trails. Those speeds are more forgiving and playful. If speeds are high then normally the trail isn’t very technical. It’s getting harder and harder to find actual ATV trail with all the SxS’s these days..
Most likely 23 inch fronts and 22 inch rears. That’s common in desert racing! A lot of guys run that set up when they have mud races in GNCC as well to increase ground clearance 👍

It must have been one of the Sundahl framed banshee’s. That’s where the idea originated 🤘
@@PeteHager he is on a bit from one of the heuvos grandes or quatro loco atv videos from the early 2000s
