Can't help but feel that this might be foreshadowing something 👀
Could be…
Go back to the isf before they skyrocket in price 📈
@@alek123ishthey already have mate 😂
Your videos ALWAYS put a smile on my face, every single one is so well put together it gives such a familiar feeling
Thanks man! Glad to hear it
From across the pond. I'm really jealous. E46 prices have sky-rocketed beyond reasonable.
Had 2x 130i's. Moved onto a 1M. Then F80 and G80. Looked hard for an E46 or Z4M but couldn't find one.
Ended up getting a boxster s 2004 manual instead. Full coilovers and a short shifter after. Still cannot beat the experience of an S54 engined car.
I shall resort to living vicariously through you.
Goodness me you’ve had a G80 but not an E46??? A G80 is 150k, E46’s are 30-40 lol. Honestly a Boxster S is still an awesome car. You’ve had a great selection of lovely cars
Surely the lack of cup holders is a dislike? My 130i has none and it is an absolute pain
My 130i had one and I made it work, the M3 has no cupholders at all and yeah it is so annoying haha
Because your too busy enjoying driving to drink 😃
Sell it bro and make 15-20k profit and buy another cheap and exciting car that the average joe can buy, it starts getting hard to relate to when buying cars like this. Although very cool , get yourself into a house before its too late, working a full time job and raising a family up in Auckland paying the crazy rent prices up here. A M3 is completely out of the picture just like buying our own home its just a dream , good luck man
Yeah I think that’s what I’ll do man
@@KiwiCarLife turning a profit on a nice car you've enjoyed feels great man. Sell this off, find yourself a higher-mileage, but beautifully maintained, 2010+ ISF or something of the sort that'll still be fun and reliable, and be smart with saving/investing otherwise.
Sidenote: if you see $BTC get down to $40-50k again after this next boom-bust cycle, buy some. DCA into it. Just my two-cents. 🪙🪙
I've watched quite a few of your videos, mainly because you keep them short and to the point. However this video has been the best, honest and to the point. Plus no Jeremy Clarkson impressions 😊
Thanks man!
Love that M3. I share your view about expensive cars. I drive much cheaper cars than I once did and now I have so much more peace of mind. Also as you touched on, lesser cars can be driven harder on the road using more gears and more of the rev range. 1 litre sports bikes have the same problem (120kph in 1st).
Yeah exactly I feel you can have just as much fun in a cheaper car
I do like the raspiness of it exhaust note. Its makes it feel very unique compared to other six cylinder cars.
Yeah true it’s kinda a love hate relationship
Reminiscent of the McLaren F1.
2:42 … 🤔💭 … _”YOUR OWN FISTS and MEAT”_ … _O K_
HAHA oops
Hi mate, lovely M3. I've owned a SW20 MR2 turbo, gen 1 BRZ and a bug eye Impreza WRX. They were all fun cars in their own right but for various reasons I let them go. I'm getting to the point in my life now (late 30s) where I could afford an expensive toy but hard to justify spending a crap load of money on something I'll probably won't drive much as I have a two year old boy. I think the prices of new sports cars are rediculous now as you look at a new 911 Carrera GTS and they're over $400k AUD, only the rich can afford to buy Porsches now. Though I am happy that Toyota are making fun cars again and are planning to revive old classics like the MR2, Celica etc so that's pretty exciting in a sea of SUVs and EVs.
Yeah exactly everything good is really expensive today, few euros like S3’s and M135i’s that are affordable still. Yeah Toyota is making some great stuff
Nice vid mate!, most of those likes and dislikes were mine as well when I owned mine, still had a lot of fun, but eventually I just had to find a new caretaker for the car lol!
Yeah fair enough man that’s cool you used to own one too!
Amazing and a very informative video. I'd suggest getting a CPL which would drastically improve video quality with no extra effort while processing.
Ooh yes will look into that
Mate, great vid as always.
If, heaven forbid, it is to go, PLEEEEEASE can I buy it!?
Haha maybe
Everything is for sale if the offer is high enough. Fairly clear Clarkson bought it as an investment, he said in a previous video that he couldn't justify paying the high prices people are asking, most likely why he hadn't got his dream car earlier. Now that he's had one he can tick it off the list as i feel it hasn't lived up to the hype enough to take his focus away from buying a house with that money but unfortunately you have to find out for yourself by buying one to know if it was the right choice.
The steering feel is easily fixable. I’ve swapped to a purple tag steering rack with a 13.7:1 ratio and it immediately transformed the entire steering feel. There is no more dead centre. Not Porsche good, but close enough.
Ooh yes might have to look into that
Can't believe you got that for only 16k!
I know me neither!
Number 5 dislike is just that, I've always wanted an E46 M3 but at this point I'm thinking of doing a LS 6 speed conversion to a garden variety 325 coupe it would be much cheaper and more or less have the same performance and I wouldn't worry about the car because its nothing special. I enjoy building cars so it could be fun. Need to finish my 300kw Legacy RSB project first though haha...
Goodness me that’s quite the project, but yeah it is an amazing car but the cost to buy and maintain is fairly significant. For someone at my age I feel like it’s not the most sensible car to own, and besides I’m happy with a 10k car like my old 130i. That legacy project sounds awesome!
You can't really go wrong with a N/A BMW engine, will run for a long time.
The great thing about these cars is even if you put money into them for maintenance, when you go to sell the car you'll end up making most of that money back on appreciation value.
Yeah that’s a good point
Would you ever sell those wheels of the 130i? If so, got a price in mind?
The 130i unfortunately is already sold with those wheels on it sorry man
Personally I love the Raspy exhaust on e46 m3 but I do get peoples dislike of it, I must say though thats just the backbox, if you were too change it over, that complaint would go real quick.
Yeah I’ve heard some with exhausts that sound great
get your 130i back and do the handling mods + LSD. lighter, quicker steering rack, shorter wb, perfect ptow for the road.
Yeah tbh there’s a lot of areas where the 130i was better suited to my needs
If you do end up selling your M3, what do you think your next car will be? M140i?
You may be on the money there
You're right about modern manuals. The most difficulty I have with my new '18 Civic is the bucking on gearshift.
My Accord was much smoother due to the NA engine and no rev-hang.
I might actually have the rev-hang tuned out, though itll cost me ACC. That said, I dont use ACC anyway.
And your story at the end is why I didn't buy the FK8 Type-R, eventhough I had the money for it. I just... couldn't justify spending 40k euro on a car, when I dont even have a driveway.
Sounds really familiar :P
I’m sure you can tune it without affecting acc. Kflash nz can tune it, but you’re overseas aye? Netherlands? And yes I imagine the 1.5t with manual will be rev hangy
How do you get rid of rev hang.I got it in my Honda Jazz gk5z
@@Will0w_0n.F0urs I didnt, really. But I did find out why it bucks/jerks during shifts. It's not the rev hang, its the rear motormount. I'm going to order a PRL one soon.
When you had the car converted to 6spd manual did you have to get the car certified?
wont need a cert as didnt need to change the brake peddal
Yeah because the gearbox didn’t change, just the actuation it’s fine
@@seanhutton7155 ah that’s the key then. So I guess m3’s don’t have horrendously large brake pedals like most “autos” do?
I could never make a video like this for my ' 380 '. Would be stumped finding 5 dislikes😅.
My word you love that 380 of yours HAHAZ
the e46 has a rubber guibo in the steering rack, e90 era doesnt, can replace with aluminium
Hmm maybe that’s why it’s better in the newer cars?
Dislikes: indicators
Hey I use them!
Mate how did you get that car for 16k , you can’t find one below 30k now
Just knowing the right people. It wasn’t on trade me or anything
A 330i would be a relatively affordable compromise. And with the money saved over an M3 you can build it to your tastes. Or buy a house too!
Yes that’s what I’m thinking I might do tbh, just hard to find a manual one
"because i have a girlfriend now, I've realised they're quite important" this guy ❤...(I know he meant climate control!)
Yep haha
😒 stopped listening when you started blaspheming.
“Thou shalt not shit talk the e46 M3”
In truth, another good and interesting video.
G/WAF (girlfriend/wife Acceptance Factor) is an undeniably important part of the ownership equation.
Yeah it’s something I never truly understood until now, it significantly affects what car I buy and what features it has HAHA
But yeah I must admit, it’s a brilliant car and is probably one of the best driving cars I’ve owned. But I think you can get something a little more well rounded for a lot less. I only bought it coz I got a fantastic deal
Sell it, buy a cheap 2000s Japanese v8!! (Toyota or Nissan). Popular platforms, amazing bang for buck! Plus an extra 30k for a house
Nah if I do sell it I’ll be sticking with BMW. Toyota just isn’t up to the standard in terms of driving experience. Anything non F is just too boaty and the transmission is horrible
@@KiwiCarLife glad 'GR' exists then for the more demanding Toyota driver 😉
Go back to the ISF platform before they skyrocket in price 📈
Absolutely not
@@KiwiCarLife lol going back to the same car you sold is like taking an ex back after she's been with another dude lol
Sounds like m3 is overrated
Tbh it’s a great car but yes for the money I would say it’s good but not great
@@KiwiCarLife 330i is probably just as good and way cheaper
