✅ About AEA Ribbon Mics & Preamps:
AEA Ribbon Mics and Preamps is family owned and operated in beautiful Pasadena, California. Proudly independent, we still manufacture all our microphones by hand right here in the United States.
Since the creation of the R44C in 1998, AEA has expanded into designing and building new ribbon microphones, each with a unique application and function, using the same RCA traditions. Over the years, AEA has advanced ribbon technology, using new materials, updated manufacturing techniques. The company now makes a whole line of ribbon mics that can be configured to give a group of musicians a unique sonic signature.

Delivering AEA’s rich ribbon tone, the end-address, supercardioid KU5A has unparalleled directionality. Never before has a ribbon mic delivered as much directional clarity and breadth of sound as the KU5A, and in a form fit for both studio and live settings. I'd love to compare this to a Beyer m160.. Might be a great solution to get a Ribbon Overhead sound in a small drum room.

All samples I hear sound amazing! How would you say it handles the decibels of a paint-peeling sax solo?

If they can make it sound better than the Beyer-Dynamic then all this hype would be worth it.

I’ve loved my RCA 5B for acoustic guitar studio and stage, I’m not sure offhand if it’s hyper or super cardioid but it’s directional enough for stage work and still has the realistic pickup and 'shapelyness of a ribbon. Is this new AEA inspired ny the 5 A and B?

It definitely is! They are alike in form factor, however, the KU5A has different guts and a wider frequency range.

Great mics, but the company doesn't reply to your emails. I don't know what to feel about that. Huge difference between companies like Lauten Audio which really take care of you.
