@@b20will83 yeah honestly, the way things are lately, probably won't be needing any extra power. I was pretty content with my 2000 dx manual, I sold it at 205k, shouldve kept it for parts since I sold it so cheap lol
@@sam392 dude no I haven't, things been sitting in the same spot 😭 inflation screwed me bad lol I'm hoping on getting to it next year around taxes, gotta get it reliably driving on the stock setup and then I'll have to figure out the b-swap. I'm not into goin fast fast anymore, so I'll be good with an LS or b20, with a gsr tranny they're great on acceleration, but LS tranny good for mileage and cool with me. You got everything ready to toss in? Good time of the year for a build 👌
If its going into an EK chassis you'll want a throttle cable from an 99-00 si civic or some del sols also have them I believe but not all. Unfortunately i no longer have a throttle cable part number available.
How much do these engine swaps cost? I have a 98 Honda Civic that’s a D16y6 and it’s a automatic. I want to swap in a B series and a 5spd. I’m use to building Mustangs Foxbodies and other v8s so this Honda thing is all new to me I need a good reliable daily driver that gets good gas mileage which is why I got the Honda. This D16 is slow as hell tho and I’ve been told I need the valves adjusting is why it misses at idle but runs great when driving it unless I stop inwhich case it misses when stopped.
Honestly depends on your location and how much work you want to do. If you pull your own engine and Trans from a junkyard you can score then for $400 CAD here locally and it'll be almost a complete swap. If you're buying through a private seller it'll be double atleast. I'd budget about $1000-$1500 CAD though. Again options such as ECU and upgrades will bump it up a bit. I came from the same world of fox bodies and big v8s, honestly any N/A Honda engine setup will get you incredible mileage and will be super reliable. Depending on the year I'd check if it's got any engine codes, check your vacuum lines, spark plugs and wires, clean you're IACV, and check your timing. That's the least intrusive tests and adjustments you can do and it'll help narrow your missfire issue down. The d16 is quite gutless unfortunately but the good news is you can B series swap it in a weekend and it'll perform as a completely different monster and get roughly the same fuel economy.. if you keep your foot out of it atleast haha. If you've got any other questions feel free to ask man, they're fun little cars to get into!
So will the Integra GSR accessory brackets work as well? basically, I’m doing a b20b swap in an EK and I happen to have the GSR brackets I was wondering if those brackets would work to keep AC and ps
Would a b20 ve a good swap for an ek? My stock y7 took a massive shit back in May 2021. I'd like to do ls vtec with a turbo but I'm open to anything that could take a turbo. I've also contemplated a prelude swap. Just depends on what my local yard has to offer because somethings better than nothing
Honestly man I'm in the same boat right now haha and I'm torn between a b18 and b20. If you're going to turbo I'd say a b18 since the b20 has thinner cylinder sleeves, and a b18 will Rev alot higher typically. A b18c would be nice with vtec but price will definitely jump up there for sure.

I have a 99 civic dx sedan automatic …what engine do I have and what would be the best and cheapest route for me to get a 250whp RELIABLE DD? I’m new to Honda coming from a Nissan background.
You should have a d16y7, and you can find it stamped on the block left of the exhaust manifold where it bolts to the transmission. There are a few different options and it depends on how much you want to spend. You can build a D16 to handle some boost and 250whp isn't too crazy, but it will be much more reliable, cheaper, and easier to find parts if you swap a B-series in. Obviously swapping in a B series is an added cost but they will generally hold power for cheaper. These are easy vehicles to work on and a little bit of research can save you some time and money. I'd look into boosting a b18b1 since they're super common and almost bolt right in!
