  • How to replace battery in Your Aladin Pro
    The battery in my Aladin Pro was 47% and started to beep.It was time to replace the battery.
    I apologize for some blur video sequences-I did not realize that the camera was here and there out of focus :-(

    For those interested, the battery replacement is SAFT LS14500 AA Battery 3.6V 2600mAh Lithium with soldered leads. The oil can be mineral oil USP. The one used as a laxative.

    I am about to replace the battery in my computer and will let you know how it goes. The video looks very comprehensive however I should mention the battery you will need a Saft LST1450003PFRP or a Tadiran SL-760PT as these have the PCB connections fitted. The battery has 1 tab on the positive and 2 tabs on the negative. My original battery was a Tadiran SL-860 ADB and I was informed by Tadiran that the replacement for this is the SL-760PT
    I hope this helps anyone attempting to replace their battery.

    Thank you very much for the clear instructions.
    Did this to my 2nd aladin today and it works flawlessly :)
    To fill the computer I leave a corner of the lid open and fill it with a syringe untill it overflows.

    I just finished changing the battery in my computer this video was great it work a treat. I live in New Zealand and there is no one here that can change batteries and I have three Aladin computers. The last time I had to send it to Sidney Australia and it cost about $275.00 Aus but this time around $25.00 NZ what a savings. Thanks

    Thanks a million, getting back into diving but lost my Aladdin, bought a dead one off eBay, followed your video and hey presto 😀 it's working 100%. A tip for anyone doing this ...... take your time, buy paraffin oil, and if you see a bubble (bubbles), open it again and get it out. Thanks again

    It doesn't matter where the restart procedure is... at least now I know where I should look for it. By the way I have bought three of these old dive computers by UWATEC, two where you access the battery compartment by unscrewing a little cap (bu the battery terminals need to be soldered) and one exactly like the one shown in this video. I am waiting for the SAFT battery to do the procedure. The first two are working fine now.

      555emeric555 I got a little bubble. I read online that I need Silicone Oil to refill the computer.

    • @555emeric555
      @555emeric555  3 года назад

      @@ilciavo I also had the air bubble (3-4mm in diameter), which made me a little bit angry, but I ignored it. I simply did not want to repeat the procedure. The bubble disappeared when I turned my Aladin upside-down repeatedly and never reappeared.

    • @ilciavo
      @ilciavo 3 года назад

      555emeric555 😃 did you get good readings afterwards? I understand the silicone oil is supposed to keep water away getting eight depth readings. Maybe I can keep the bubble as a level 🤣 BTW, cool strap

    Thanks for this video! I'm not any sort of engineer but I sure feel like one after trying this. Couple questions, while doing it, the wire between the top silver circle and the motherboard(if that is what you call it) piece came off of the motherboard and I had to resolder that on. The ERR is now fading in and out. When I do the reset, it does reset for a second then fades and goes back to the ERR screen. Also noticing a tiny bit of smoke coming from under that board. Any guidance here is helpful!!

    • @555emeric555
      @555emeric555  2 года назад

      It looks seriously...that smoke. Maybe a short circuit?

    • @davidl.2544
      @davidl.2544 2 года назад

      These run on smoke; when you let the smoke out they stop working.

    Hi, many thanks for the video!
    I have followed step by step your video and order the same battery’s as on your video, once the battery was replaced I had the Err message on display, then I got the 3v battery and and wired it exactly as your video and touch the positive and negative, the computer rebooted as yours did but then screen has gone blank and now even the Err message in not displayed, I made sure the polarity of the battery is correct. Not sure what to do?

      In my opinion, the only thing You can do is to try to restart repeatedly. There is a chance...One year ago I helped my friend with battery replace&restart and we thought we failed, but we didn´t give up. There was necessary to restart at least 20x!
      On the other hand, some years ago I used to send my Aladin directly to Uwatec. The battery replacement cost 1/5 of price of new Aladin... They warned me in advance that they can´t guarantee succesful restart after battery replacement.

    • @555emeric555

      Another idea- maybe could help to disconnect and then, after several minutes, to reconect the battery in Your Aladin and then try to restart

      I did try the restart removed the battery few time and yes the Err code come back, initially the same thing keep happening, reboot then blank screen, tried it about 10 times, got fed up packed it in, put it all back together filled it up with oil and went to wash it in the sink lo & behold it worked under water, the button started to read input I guess it need to be wet to recognise touch.

    Low battery. In 2 days? The screen told me 99% but half a day later the display was empty and then the beeping starts.
    After two days in a pillow, there was silence and the screen shows "ERR" and tried the 3volt restart, all symbols on screen showed up but after 10 secs they were gone and the beeps started again...........no clue

  • @dickvanrij9619
    @dickvanrij9619 6 лет назад

    It was alive but after a day it started beeping. And can't be stopped ....... retry with a 2016 battery doesn't do anything put it away in our guest room .
    Is it lost or is there a fix?

    • @55emeric55
      @55emeric55 6 лет назад

      In my experience when it starts to beep, it indicates the low battery. The best way to soften that annoying beeping is to immerse it into a water bucket or bathtub :-) until the battery is empty. Or replace the battery once again. Maybe I´d try to disconect the battery for a while and reconect. In the meantime check the voltage of the battery. How many % was the new battery when You replaced it ?
