One thing that Russians don't seem to be aware of, is the number of casualties they have. 400k total with 200k dead is our estimate, which is about double Ukraine's total, though they have about 1/3 the deaths.
Could you ask Russians how they would feel if we help Ukrainians for so long that 1 million to 3 million Russian soldiers lose their lives? Because they should understand that we are with Ukraine as long as they want to fight.

Nothing for the locals who survived, they are evicted and forced to leave the city in various ways. Motto:- "The Russian is the biggest and most impudent liar in the whole world" - Ivan S. Turgeniev
What you suspect is your fault. I'm just saying that the neighbors of Russia, my country is a neighbor of Russia, have learned over the last 350 years never to believe in Moscow and especially in its "good intentions", when it wants, in its great magnanimity, to help you, to free you from Catholics, Ottomans, the exploiting classes and, more recently, from Nazis and fascists, etc. My country never asked for their help and never invited them to come to our territory with their musketeer armies and yet you did it. 12 times in 300 years. And every time you robbed, killed, and imposed governments enslaved to you. We gave it to KEEP our treasure, in 1917. We were allies in WWI against the Central Powers. What did the Russians do? They confiscated the treasure. Today they smile at us and say which treasure? Or with the myth of the school bully, they tell us: we won't give you anything.
This is Russia and Russians in any period of their history.
For this, we, the neighbors of Russia and the Russians, must find the best methods, solutions, of any kind, to defend ourselves from the unsolicited and unwanted "help" of the Russians, of Russia.

The Donbassians never really wanted to be joined with Russia. They wanted more self rule within Ukraine and under the Ukrainian constitution. A recognition of their achievement in Ukrainian society as most of what they earned went to Kiev (that has always been the case and is not new). The Russians however kidnapped their plight for their own means, which was to obstruct the possibility of the EU, together with the Ukrainian government to invest and develop the resources in their ground. That was the reason for the war in 2014. 2022 happened because of not certifying the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
Russia is not interested in their resources, it doesn't need them. So now the area will remain underdeveloped and poor. And they are quite aware of that from the beginning. Only a few idiots are for the Russians. The overall majority knows that they would have been far better off within Ukraine.

That people can stand with a straight face and say that "Mariupol is so nicely rebuilt!" - on the bones of 600 women and children in the theatre among others, just shows that there is something fundamentally wrong with the Russian people. My wife frequently talks to a former resident of Donetsk who left her luxury appartment and fled to Latvia. Meanwhile some ruzzians took possession of her appartment whit all the furniture and live there happily! Luting and stealing is a ruzzian character......

Why don’t they renovate their own dilapidated town and leave Mariupol alone after devastating this beautiful town

"Из России исходит только доброта? "Я думаю, что каждое бывшее советское государство, которое сейчас является независимым, и Украина, а также каждый политический оппозиционер не согласились бы с этой женщиной, которая явно живет в легком путинском мыльном пузыре, где она приостанавливает свое собственное мышление в пользу фантазий/партийной линии.

5:52. 'Apparently they lived there more or less tolerably well before the war!'
This is exactly my unserstanding from reading rather widely and from the absence of reports of intercommunal violence or any Kremlin diplomatic protests of such events prior to 2014.
It is such a shame that the Kremlin chose the path of imperialism onstead of cooperation.

The reason Putin invaded was because he didn't want Ukraine in Nato, that was a red line. The US knew this. Anything about natzis and all that or helping Russian speakers are just a pretense. He continues the war because after all the Russian blood spilled he cannot give the territory back (or he might be pushed out a window) and a deal where Ukraine can't get any land back and it can't join nato is probably dead in the water.
