    Great video, I was thinking about buying a Sherpax trailer, but now I want to make my own! Thanks

      I lightened up by 35lbs by using a CR85 front wheel and a smaller box.
      I saved over 5lbs jus by switching boxes
      The new wheel saved 20lbs and the tire saved 5lbs

    I love it. The only thing I don't like about them is how they mount to the wheel. How does it effect the handling??

    • @motohead117
      @motohead117  2 месяца назад

      @@randalljay8806 that’s the best part,it doesn’t effect the handling over 10mph because it doesn’t effect the suspension

    I'm wondering if tongue weight rules don't apply to axle mounted mono trailers.

  • @mrsietz

    Seems to be a great set up but missed the wheel type due to wind noise. What was the wheel brand?

    • @motohead117
      @motohead117  3 года назад +1

      In the video it had a GS500 front wheel.
      But it proved to be too heavy so the big box came off and a smaller box went on.
      Also the GS wheel came off and a CR85 front wheel went on.
      I shaved off over 35lbs !!.

    Any advice for those with solid axels?
    I was considering a trailer setup similar to a bicycle trailer.
    I don't want to build a complex hitch that mounts to the frame.
    I ride a f650gs
    Your design looks perfect and ide like to copy it

      I made a simple arrangement to connect a trailer to my motorized bike - a rigid draw bar fastened to both sides of the bike frame, with a single vertical hole in the center behind the wheel, to pull the trailer. On the tongue of the trailer I welded a threaded end of a car inner tie rod end, and threaded an outer tie rod end onto it. The pin of the outer tie rod end goes down through the hole in the bike draw bar. This allows for steering , tipping of the trailer sideways in relation to the bike, (the tie rod can rotate on its thread) and plenty of fore-and-aft vertical travel. Tightening the tie rod end stud nut makes both bike and trailer hard to steal.

    Viewer wondering: how do you rego that? Will those attachment points survive?
    Anyway: not even putting lights on it

    • @motohead117
      @motohead117  6 месяцев назад +1

      No lights needed because the motorcycle lights are visible.
      No reg needed as it’s considered a part of the motorcycle

    I realize this video is a bit older. I'm having a situation living off my bike that this would be the perfect solution. Do you still have this or do you sell them? I know I could build one if I had a place but I'm on the road full time.

    • @motohead117

  • @slrs3908
    @slrs3908 Год назад

    Sure is a nice looking rig you have there, but with the front of the trailer having no suspension, the trailer is always going to have a very harsh ride. Suspend the front of the trailer from the bike frame.

  • @jdleestirringthepot6421

    you need to change the ridged hitch setup, to a universal joint type or ball for better handling , it will handle better on freeway speed and wind and in the curves , ive been pulling every type of trailer you can think of for 45yr from big trucks to rv trailers to small trailers and all my motorcycle trailer

    • @motohead117
      @motohead117  4 года назад +3

      It needs a semi ridged hitch or it just falls over,this works good it’s a tried hitch setup that I’ve used before.
      The problem is light bike vs heavy trailer

    nice trailer but the turning radius of the trailer is too small on a tight turn you can fall of the bike the distance between the bolt and the front of the trailer has to be longer
