  • In this video I talk about and demonstrate the standard dip on rings.
    00:00 intro
    03:05 dips demonstration
    Make sure that you pull the elbows straight back "into the pocket" and dip down as deeply as you can with each session so that you increase mobility over time and develop the shoulder extension needed to make the transition form the pull-up to the dip in the ring muscle-up. (If you want to do muscle ups eventually)
    If you need to develop your support hold because you are unstable in your dips, go the the support hold video in the following link: • Ring Training progress...

  •  3 года назад +4

    Hey, Jerry, I've been working on ring dips for a while now. Atm I'm able to do a few sets of 5~6 reps with a 20kg vest. The things is that I don't have much space here, so my feet touch the floor. To avoid that, I usually keep my legs straight in front of me, so my rom is not affected (body kinda like a "

    • @SymbiotAlpha
      @SymbiotAlpha 3 года назад +1

      from what i've heard from broscience is crossing your legs behind you during dips puts more of the emphasis on the triceps. I think that's why most people do them in hollow body. So i kinda would assume legs in front to be better than behind.

    Excellent vid bro!!! Quick question if u get time to answer. I get a clicking sensation in my right shoulder when performing this type of ring dip but not so much when doing the wider version? Is clicking some thing I should try and avoid?

    • @JerryTeixeira
      @JerryTeixeira  4 года назад +1

      Depends, sometimes its just air bubbles popping through sinovial fluid, or a tendon sliding over a bone. Improving shoulder mobility might help, but really, just do the wide dips. Thats all i do on rings for dips. If you are able to do them they are more effective anyway

    • @chrisplayz253
      @chrisplayz253 4 года назад

      @@JerryTeixeira thanks bro synovial fluid takes time to click again once you've popped the bubbles once I think so I'm guessing it's the tendon sliding over the bones. Theres no pain so from what I've read I think it's ok but I still try to avoid it as the sensation goes through me lol thanks for u r response bro, I subbed!!! 😁👍

      As long as they have some manner of handle/ grip, but you don’t have to do rings training. You can always do dips on standard dip bars, push-ups will also build the chest, rings are great, but they are totally optional.

    Hi Jerry, I found your 1st support position and this video helpful. I would like to know that can I do weighted rings dips for building upper body (arms and chest), will it be as helpful as done on parallel bar or dip station?

    • @JerryTeixeira
      @JerryTeixeira  4 года назад +1

      Rings are a higher intensity movement than bars. I have a duo attachment in the house, I use it for planche dips (ill post something on those) but you will build more strength and engage the pecs more on rings. Both work, but if you have a good ring dip then you can just train rings. The wide/ Bulgarian ring dip is amazing for the chest as well

    • @Buyongjajangman

      Lack of shoulders strength so your sternum is taking the load and dipped too low. Also, you may be flaring your elbow outwards too much. The gap between each parallel bars/rings might also be too far apart, it should be closer to your body.
