hello neighbor is a puzzle horror game in which the player must break into the house of mr. peterson and try to uncover the secrets of his basement. at the heart of hello neighbor lies a carefully constructed layer-cake of social horror and family-friendly fare. there is a clear dichotomy between these two genres, but the narrative walks the line by burying its secrets along with its trauma…sometimes quite literally. theodore masters peterson, also known by his nickname the neighbor, is an unemployed and unhinged maniac. a former international amusement park designer, he started to slowly lose sanity after multiple people died on amusement rides designed by him. he did much for his family, and wanted to protect them. after the death of two of his family members, his son, aaron, is the only person he has left.
wally darling was one of the 9 neighbors that lived in the neighborhood during the 1970s television series, welcome home. wally is the most prominent character in welcome home, as he is often the focus of merchandise, advertising, and is present in every episode and book. his segments were focused on drawing and painting with viewers. barnaby was often depicted alongside him and illustrated pages note that they were best friends multiple times. a notable characteristic of wally is his house named home. home is regarded as the ninth neighbor, but seemingly cannot speak as illustrations show home speaking only in onomatopoeias. wally is your best friend. he wonders what you like to talk about, what you're thinking, what you sound like, and he's hoping one day you'll tell him all about you. he loves learning, and that includes you.

The garbage line was so fucking good. Not only is Wally saying that him being garbage doesn't compare to how bad Hello Neighbor is, but also in Hello Neighbor certain items when ran into cause the player to fly up into the air, a garbage can and even the garbage bags being commonly used to perform said glitch meaning Wally would quite literally be above Mr Peterson. Really clever writing which I feel is going to go overlooked
Side note: I absolutely love that this bug never got fixed, from first alphas to the release of Hello Neighbor 1 it is possible to fly using weird geometry of objects

@@N_o196 Home in Welcome Home is where Wally lives, the house itself is alive and a true friend to Wally, he considers it as a ninth neighbor and speaks to it, Home is also theorized to be controlling, manipulating Wally in some aspects sorta anchoring him like the connection is the most important thing ever that he confides in

This means that the Neighbor can't diss Wally with "Your fans left you forgotten."

@@ironicallyedgy7234 In the cooking book, there is a recipe that has some peas on it and it says every pea resembles a friend. And in one part, there was only one pea on the plate and that means everyone forgot the person who made the meal.

By the way, the special letters from Wally's first verse spell out "DEITHURT." I pasted the exact lines below. Something weird going on with that, probably makes more sense if you're familiar with the series though

Feels kinda weird how welcome home doesn't have any other battles (that I know of). Either way, this battle is really good. The neighbor has some pretty good flow, especially in his first verse, but wally had really hard hitting disses, so I'm gonna have go with wally for the win. That garbage bin line was a pretty clever comeback.
I think Wally won, but he definitely had a massive advantage because of how easy to diss the Hello Neighbor games are
Yeah from the jump I already knew it would be far more easy to diss Hello Neighbor since I didn’t even know who Wally was until this video. But for the more roastable opponent The Neighbor still cooked, I just wish his lines were more acknowledged, some of them hit pretty hard.

In these comments I always compliment the writing, voice acting, etc. and let's not kid ourselves here, everything is stellar in this battle (as per usual)! One thing I want to focus on in this comment is how absolutely awesome the animation and editing are in your battles. You always capture the styles of the works you are using so expertly, and it makes the videos so fun to watch. Your animation skills are just so incredibly good! As an example here, the Mr. Peterson side genuinely feels like it was ripped straight out of Hello Neighbor, and that final shot of his second verse is just awesome. Then there's the editing on Wally's verses, which is godly, flashy, just AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the visuals in all of your battles are SO GOOD!!! As I said before the writing is sharp as ever, and Mr. Tibbs channels the energy of the Neighbor so well, and Wally doesn't even HAVE a canon voice (to my knowledge), but... yeah your take is absolutely it. Yet another banger from you, GP!

Wait, Snakebite created some of the Art for Wally Darling? Wow. It fits the artstyle for the Welcome Home perfectly. I couldn't tell which images of Wally were from Welcome Home and which were original. And this was great. I could understand a lot of the references to "Welcome Home".
Also, I noticed in Wally's First Verse, some of the Letters in the captions were out of place. Which, considering I started following Welcome Home after I saw it in the battle lists back then, I know that means there is a hidden message or a hidden link.
So:
D from "*D*on't even need to part my lips" is up too high
E from "A Clown who's Hous*e*" is in black
I from "Or was *i*t Edith Finch" is smaller
T from "I forgo*t* the words" is slightly lower
H from "Maybe t*h*at's why we're paired" is higher up
U from "the n*u*mbers are hard to read" is in a font like Impact
R from "Not so beautiful D*r*eamer" is slightly smaller
T from "Stay Quie*t*" is higher up
Not sure if it's actually part of this sort of "ARG" styled cipher, but the "News" has the "E" higher up, but that may just be a reference to the original website
But, anyways, DEITHURT, hmm. I can get the Word "TRUTH", but then I would be left with "DEI" which doesn't work. If a line had the letter Y out of place, I could make "DEITY" but, what could "DEITHURT" mean. I mean, I could Make "HIDE" but then I'd be left with "TURT" which doesn't made a word. Unless there's a Cipher attached to them, I don't know what they could be saying.
I can make out "DIE TRUTH" or "IT HURTED" but other than that yeah,
There is also the "O" from "Believe me Mr. PetersOn" it seems it is in a different font. Which leaves us with DOEITHURT, we believe we are somehow missing an S somewhere cause then it would perfectly spell "DOES IT HURT"
At some lines from Wally there are distinct letters that spell ‘’Duet’’

Neighbor’s last bar made me think he could come out but then Wally dropped the “that’s good I think” and began roasting him more. “Even if you think I’m garbage that still means I rise above you” nah that’s insane. Because of the glitch where you could use trash cans to fly above ground same time he’s also claiming bro is not even above trash. Fucking WILD.

This is such a creative battle for the Welcome Home (Wally) or whatever it is, I’m not all that familiar with it, but the random little letters out of place makes it feel so cool. This could be alluding to smth or just a funny little creative choice, mainly cuz I can’t find any meaning behind them (D, E, I, U, T) so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
