Haha that game for me is Moonrakers. So much expansion content that we don't need. But I love it

If you want to see some reviews that don't hesitate to share what they don't like, check out Board Game Bollocks and Shut Up and Sit Down. They do a nice job of giving what they like and what they don't like and which wins out for them.

Your review of Orient Express helped me understand why it wasn't for me. The same with Vagrantsong.
I've always used bookkeeping to explain the f*******y stuff. It's why I never got on with Jaws of the Lion. I want to have fun not do my day job. I can do spreadsheets and double entry bookkeeping at work. I don't need it in my spare time. For me it's why Ticket tro Ride will always work for me. Simple rules, simple setup, no bookkeeping. Dominion the same, complexity is on the cards. Too complicated? Then don't use that expansion or put those cards in the market. Pandemic great game, same stuff. Gaia project agin all the complication is on the player board. What does that tell you? I don't want to spend 2 hours reading the rules every time I get it out. I just want to play and have fun, not worry about it not being a real life simulation!!
Miniatures wargames, one hour skirmish, it's a book, simple rules, exceptions for different periods, low input costs, just need 2 decks of cards. And great fun too, the rivet counters hate it, too swingy, not realistic enough but I don't want to play with rivet counters, let them worry that the hat is too big, the bread bag is the wrong shape or the valise is wrong. I don't care.
Have fun, have a great memorial weekend

Hah that game I have too much of that I’ll never play:
    Black Plague all-in
    Green Hord all-in
    Invader all-in
    Marvel Zombies all-in (minus Galactus)
    Kingdom Death Satan Pledge
    Marvel United XMen all-in
    Joan of Arc all-in
    Nemesis all-in
    The list goes on…

I still found myself disappointed with Earth going the $1 preorder route. Considering the first campaign had the Calendar pack, which was free set of cards, and this game was bound to be successful, I didn't feel like Earth was game that needed to go to use the $1 preorder. This was one my most hype games of the year and ended up skipping the game because of it.
God of War campaign just felt like scattered and unpolished. The fact that the CMON didn't have demo physical copies of the game and the gameplay they did show look boring. I'm surprised it did as well as it actually did.
Castles of Burgundy caught me off guard. I heard the reprint campaign was coming out, I fell in love with the game on BGA, and I backed the Splendid Edition. I skipped the 3D Terrain pack because it felt redundant if I'm already getting the acrylic tokens and tiles. That and the fact that the 3D Terrain pack was literally the cost of the game itself. It just felt like $100 that could go towards different game(s).

Gods of War was a pass for us. We looked at the game and were definitely intrigued but not enough to pull the trigger.

I preferred The God of War Card game since it plays more people and seemed more interesting than the new game.

The God of War campaign was a huge disappointment, and it seemed like very little effort was put into everything from the shallow gameplay to the lack of artwork to the misshapen mini design. Add high shipping charges and not one single God to fight in the base game (typical CMON emphasis on selling expansions), and the result was an easy pass for me (and I'm a huge fan of the God of War franchise) and many other people who followed the campaign before launch.

I think CMON are resting on their laurels and it’s getting boring. Awaken Realms and others are doing shaded minis, acrylic tokens, etc. CMON keep doing what they have been doing for a decade.

who actually cares about the minis in castles of burgundy. thats not why the campaigns for it are doing so well. Who actually uses those minis? how many actually got them?
3m raised and 23k backers? Thats 130€ on average. the minis pledge 300€ oh so hardly anyone got that pledge wow suprise lol

    • @adukovski
      @adukovski Месяц назад +1

That is 130€ without VAT and shipping.
But for a 35€ I can get Castles of Burgundy anniversary edition and use the rest to buy two other games. Deluxified is nice but not for 6-7x the price of the game...but everyone decides for themselves, I would rather have 3 great games then 1 deluxified (CoB is not in my top 20).

@@adukovskiGiven the value of time, rather play a beautiful game in that time. There’s way more games than people have time for.

      @@arcaderunner2188 Sure it makes sense.
For me, I would rather have the option for different experience than a deluxified game that I already own.

Just do a review of a game you don't like and don't prove a point. Be clear, direct, and honest. People enjoy it and respect it. You don't owe anyone though. It's not a badge of honor it's just a line in the sand. People also learn EXACTLY what you like and don't like if you're specific and respectful while doing it.

God of War was just so boring. The gameplay offered nothing special, and I already have similar games that are more interesting. I think people are just not chasing IP as much now and looking for solid gameplay or something new.
