I was thrilled that you could turn off the hand held camera shake down / off during gameplay. I never minded it during the cut scenes, but it didn't add anything for me other than a headache and less play time on start.
Yo man thank you so much, i always get delayed about an hour or two juat in the menu and options to optimize my game and fps and you made it so much easier!

The targeting system seems more awkward than in the previous game. So far I’m not feeling it. I also considered that I may have aged out and just trash now too. Yet still, it shouldn’t be this difficult to navigate through battle with multiple opponents.
targetting system and quick turn was a downgrade in this game IMO, can't stand needing to press r1 before, and sometimes when rushing buttons it doesn't even work
Great video here champ. So informative, I knew of a few you mentioned but the way you explanied some other options was so helpful as I didn't understand them properly lol Thanks 👍✌️
4:32 ... Oh.... Em...Gee You actually correctly recommended people to try out gyro aiming! I've seen videos similar to this actually tell people to turn it OFF to get a better game experience! I am so relieved you are on board with this innovation. I consider it one of the greatest interface option ever to come about. It also makes games 4 times as fun (never took to the mouse, and I HATE aim assisted thumb stick aim).
Just wanted to mention the settings for when you're idling and traversing real quick as whenever on boat that gave me serious motion sickness (even when set at 1), so if you notice you're getting a headache when travelling, consider that setting!
Very good tips! I didn't even realize I was playing without HDR and VRR benefits of my CX oled. I think I set them up previously but they probably got set to default by an update. I could notice quite clearly some occasional dips in FPS as soon as i turned HRD on though (using performance mode) which wasn't the case before I turned it on but I think it's still worth it and it's far less noticeable than turning on quality mode for instance so it's a good balance
Actually a few good suggestions, swapped O and X right away, that was really throwing me off, although I kept mixing them up for a bit after that. I don’t like the auto pick up though.

I personally only use auto pick up for the economy since using it for essentials during a fight can stop runic attacks or could prevent evading an attack

Thanks for the tips. The "dodge/roll" setting helped me out lots. I changed it to a single tap because the software mechanics of this game are brutally slow. Pressing L1 to bring up your shield works only 75% of the time on PS5, I have an 1100 model, and the game developers are well aware of the issue. It's why they're already working on their FOURTH software update. It's no fun playing such a graphically realistic game if you keep getting killed because basic combat control functions DON'T WORK.

First one is a terrible idea (unless you're playing on easy). You have to be able to decide when to pick up health and rage at strategic moments if you're playing on normal or higher.
Haha yes I was the same. I understand why though; X is closer to the right stick than circle, so is easier to press whilst giving the game an input for a direction to move with the camera. That said, Spider-Man, and every other game ever has our games trained to use O. Glad it helped you :)
Nice tips, even though I did a "once over" myself, it was nice to see your recommendations as I picked up a few I missed (roll+, quick turn on TouchPad for example). Thanks

@@Octorious I did see yet another quick turn option I missed. Instead of L1+dpad down, it can be L stick down, press L3. Give that a try so thumbs don't leave the sticks
Definitely don't recommend auto pick up for health and rage. I deliberately leave some health stones on the ground that I can come to later on if needed. Sometimes you miss just a sliver of health and waste a health stone if it's auto picked. Maybe turn it on for bosses but otherwise I leave it off.
I would personally not have him pick up health automatically as in some fights its handy to have some laying around. be very annoying to accidentally pick them up when your health is already full.
Swapping the buttons for evade and interact was the first thing I did. Dodging/evading with X just feels unnatural especially if you play a lot of FromSoftware games.
Glad I wasn't the only one who struggled to get used to it. I do understand why X is used as it is closer to the thumbstick, but when O is dodge in everything else I play, my survival instincts just didn't line up to the controls haha
Full pick-up mode (setting 1) makes the game easier during combat, hence I have it off as would otherwise compromise Give Me God of War mode. Setting Circle to dodge (setting 2) is huge, though.
That's definitely a fair point, and it is definitely going to vary player to player! Do note that auto pick-up will only really kick in if the enemy isn't actively fighting you at the stone, so you do still have the option to manually pick up, and auto pick up works if there is a good amount of distance between you and the opponent. That said, I do agree with what you are saying; maybe you should consider the economy option though so that picking up resources/loot is a little faster, but stones are still always manual? I'm glad you found the second setting I mentioned of use! :) I had a real tough time getting my brain to use X, as my survival instincts have been built up and configured for circle thanks to pretty much every other game ever haha. Hope there were some other settings you found useful too! Enjoy the game! :D
Monica studio should of have the option to truly remap the controller buttons. Cause I'm use to using square and triangle to be the focus on attacking easier.
Thank you soooooo much for showing how to switch the evade/interact buttons. I looked for it but couldn't find it myself. This is going to be a definite game changer. Thank you again.
Good to see that gyro is gaining momentum. I think many more games should have these features. I played Days Gone with gyro and don’t want anything else with shooters or games that require aiming. I notice I automatically tilt the controller when aiming, even if it isn’t supported. Games like cyberpunk isn’t playable for me on console.
Is there really not an option for a wider camera angle during game play. The damn camera angle is literally on the back of his head. How are people liking this???
Best setting for me: always sprint, autosprint :) gow ragnarok is an amazing game, it becomes better as you advance, makes me want to explore everything at 100%
The auto pick-up setting is very helpful, especially where health is concerned. When I’m trying to pick up health in the middle of a fight I nearly always get hit whilst pressing the button 😡
This was helpful thanks. I did most of the settings the time I started playing but i could use some of the recommended settings for a better experience.
These are all fantastic tips but there were 3 that I've been using that I would like to add. 1. Puzzle Timing Extended: gives you more time to hit the 3 Symbol Bells to open the chest so you're not rushing. 2. High Contrast Preset: Collector Mode. This allows you to view all the hidden treasure chest and items in every area are so you don't miss anything it's really helpful when you're trying to stock up and can't find all the items or where the next door/clif you're supposed to go is. Basically you will never get confused where the next place to go is 3. Evade Assist: This makes it so when you evade, you won't take any damage which is how it should be IMO, that's the point of evading lol. Also by holding down the evade button you can continuously evade instead of just doing it once
Holy we have a Evade Assist??? I just was sweating my ass off with these berserker’s insanely huge hitbox, like 4 of them in a row last night and now you saying we don’t take dmg when evading?..

Man, i was having such a hard time hitting 'x' to dodge😅 i changed it last night and it made a world of difference. But after watching some of your video, I'll be doing the auto pick up for sure!
Strongly disagree with the first one, I leave that one off. I don't want that to happen during a fight where I want to run to a spot and suddenly Kratos pauses to pick something up.

hi i have a question just out of curiosity🤔🙂 is it possible to get the nornir chest in temple of light or the other nornir chests in alfheim later if you missed or dident manage to get them during the story mission in Alfheim🤔🤔🤔🙂?
Honestly, not too sure; I haven't got that far yet. That said, I am 99% sure Cory Barlog confirmed a week or so back (or maybe a different Santa Monica employee) that there aren't any missable trophies, so I imagine you'd be able to go back and get it later if it was of importance. :)
You need to know there is a hit to quality if you run high frame rate mode on the quality preset, it’s not huge, but it is noticeable in some areas. My TV supports VRR but the auto motion setting actually does a good job on quality mode without high frame rate, although I still run high frame rate mode because the lagginess without it is too much to handle in combat
I guess auto pickup for life and rage drop offs are not good to be honest... We all know that sometimes you will have a big fight in the same spot later in the game, so if you simply do not pick up at first, you will have an extra resource later on. Of course you can say that you simply just do not run into the drop off to not getting it automatically, but sometimes you are fighting and simply pass over it, so I believe it is better to leave it as it is :)
If you're playing on Give Me God of War mode, your auto loot should be set to OFF or Economy only. Any other setting is a nerf to your ability to beat the game on GMGoW mode. GMGoW does not afford Kratos a lot of CC abilities, so the health and rage stone pick ups can be very important CC's to strategize around. If you're playing on anything less than GMGoW mode, then this setting does not matter as the game should be easy enough for you at that point where you can prioritize convenience.
When I quit the game, no sound in my PS5 menu and in other games. Any suggestions...? :( When I turn off the High Frame Rate Mode, no sound in the GOW Ragnarok as well.
How do you turn off that stupid force feedback for trigger or attack in cinematics? Hate it when it feels like my controller is busted or forcibly making it harder to hit the trigger button aka R2

I personally haven't. I'm not in a position to be able to check right now, but if there's a deadzone setting in the camera options, try tweaking it. It does look like it's more a problem with the game though: www.reddit.com/r/PSPlay/comments/yqzt2p/ios_god_of_war_ragnarok_drift_issue/ So maybe wait and see if there's a patch at some point soon; there was an update over the weekend, so that might have even addressed it :) Failing that, do the typical ways to try to fix stick drift. If that doesn't help, then use it as an excuse to get the limited edition God of War controller :)
Does anyone know why I have to disable GAME MODE from TV and disable 120hz from ps5 for the game to work? I adjusted the brightness on TV to 0 but it is to bright My TV is Samsung QLED 4K Q9FNAT is anyone having same issues???
I have a tip for you. Avoid placing your PS5 in an enclosed space shown on your video. According to the PlayStation's website: "Ensure that the air vents on the sides and back of the PS5 console are not blocked or obstructed. Make sure there is at least 10 cm of free space around each side of the console."
I have thought about this in the past when I saw that on PlayStation's site. There's 10cm behind it, 10cm to one side, and 10cm infront. The amount of intake from the side vent wasn't enough to justify me finding somewhere else to put it. I like how it looks there and genuinely don't have room anywhere else aha. I've done thermal tests just to check though, and it's the exact same temp there after an hour, as it is in the middle of an open space after an hour :) Thank you so much for the tip anyway though, appreciate you looking out for my PS5 :D
Gr8 vid, maybe jusy nitpicking, but you don't need to unfollow the game to prevent spoilers, just go to PS5 settings ---> spoiler and select according to your preference
Thanks! :) And yes, that's a good point too! However, I do still think it's safer to unfollow; videos can show up there with thumbnails as spoilers that the PS5 doesn't recognise as a point not already reached in the game etc. You are right though, I should have mentioned that too! :D

I'm doing the same exact thing. The circle button just seems so natural to evade with.
Same here. Why is it not default?
You didn't cover what I need most and from browsing the web many suffer from same problems. May map doesn't show undiscovered. I'm in Niflheim on a game plus and nothing is showing up.

@@martialcitizen5360 thank you :))
I was thrilled that you could turn off the hand held camera shake down / off during gameplay. I never minded it during the cut scenes, but it didn't add anything for me other than a headache and less play time on start.
Camera shake is weird on screen, I know they try to simulate head movement, but in real life your eyes adjust to keep the image stable.

Yeah, that’s kinda why I’m here. I was hoping there was some way for me to switch targets a lot easier. It’s driving me crazy.
targetting system and quick turn was a downgrade in this game IMO, can't stand needing to press r1 before, and sometimes when rushing buttons it doesn't even work
Great video here champ. So informative, I knew of a few you mentioned but the way you explanied some other options was so helpful as I didn't understand them properly lol Thanks 👍✌️

Motion sensor aiming can only be fun if you're not playing on "Give me God of War" difficulty... It takes out your reflexes on battle :')
4:32 ... Oh.... Em...Gee
You actually correctly recommended people to try out gyro aiming!
Thanks for these great tips, im def going to apply most of these today
Really happy to be able to help you out :) I'll make this style video for future games too so make sure to stick around and subscribe 😊
Just wanted to mention the settings for when you're idling and traversing real quick as whenever on boat that gave me serious motion sickness (even when set at 1), so if you notice you're getting a headache when travelling, consider that setting!
So which setting did you change? The camera speed movement?
As a Dark souls player I also swapped the dodge to O but I swapped it back to default as I realized it's faster/more convenient for playflow to dodge with X as it's closer to the right joystick which is moving the camera and GoW is a very camera moving focused game
Got used to it pretty quickly TBH
Bring on the hate but I say X is arguably the better button for dodge when you get used to it and I can see why they made it default
I personally only use auto pick up for the economy since using it for essentials during a fight can stop runic attacks or could prevent evading an attack
Wow. This video was really useful. I am going to use most of these.
Really pleased you think that and am super happy to have been able to help! :D I'll make this style video for future games too so make sure to stick around and subscribe 😊

Great video really informative
Thanks so much, Cal!
I physically couldn’t play GoW 2018 until I realised you could map dodge to O. Whoever made the decision to make it X by default is absolutely insane.
Dodge should always be O
Its the law! 🤬
Haha yes I was the same. I understand why though; X is closer to the right stick than circle, so is easier to press whilst giving the game an input for a direction to move with the camera. That said, Spider-Man, and every other game ever has our games trained to use O. Glad it helped you :)
Congratulations on getting this opportunity to get it early!!
Thank you!!
Nice tips, even though I did a "once over" myself, it was nice to see your recommendations as I picked up a few I missed (roll+, quick turn on TouchPad for example). Thanks
Thanks! I'm really happy to hear you found it useful and that I pointed out a couple settings you missed. Were there any brilliant settings you picked up on that I perhaps forgot to mention? I'd love to know more! :D

That's a fair point! :) Maybe you should use the Economy option then :D
I would personally not have him pick up health automatically as in some fights its handy to have some laying around. be very annoying to accidentally pick them up when your health is already full.
Thanks for this!
My pleasure! I hope you enjoyed it :)
You can set it to classic controls in settings
Thank you soooooo much for showing how to switch the evade/interact buttons. I looked for it but couldn't find it myself. This is going to be a definite game changer. Thank you again.
Good to see that gyro is gaining momentum. I think many more games should have these features. I played Days Gone with gyro and don’t want anything else with shooters or games that require aiming. I notice I automatically tilt the controller when aiming, even if it isn’t supported. Games like cyberpunk isn’t playable for me on console.
Yeah I 100% agree; it's a great feature that the Dualsense pulls off so well too.
Trust me. It is not going to change with auto pick up 😅
Glad you found it helpful :) Like Alex has said though, it doesn't help with the difficulty too much haha, can just be an added layer of convenience.
This was helpful thanks. I did most of the settings the time I started playing but i could use some of the recommended settings for a better experience.

@@Octorious subscribed as recommended:)
@@fayz221 thanks so much, means a lot 💙
These are all fantastic tips but there were 3 that I've been using that I would like to add.
1. Puzzle Timing Extended: gives you more time to hit the 3 Symbol Bells to open the chest so you're not rushing.
2. High Contrast Preset: Collector Mode. This allows you to view all the hidden treasure chest and items in every area are so you don't miss anything it's really helpful when you're trying to stock up and can't find all the items or where the next door/clif you're supposed to go is. Basically you will never get confused where the next place to go is
Does collector mode deactivate trophies?
@@TheBeeaarrJew No u still get Trophies. Nothing else changes
So evade assist will be kind of like Bloodborne?
@@brando3424 I guess so, I haven't played Bloodborne yet so I'm not sure 😅
Splatoon series introduced gyro aiming way back on the WiiU. That being said, I didn't know it was in GoWR, thank you for bringing it to my attention. Definitely will turn it on
Navigation assist is the best thing they added to this game. It should be in all games!
Man, i was having such a hard time hitting 'x' to dodge😅 i changed it last night and it made a world of difference.
But after watching some of your video, I'll be doing the auto pick up for sure!
Same !!!
Strongly disagree with the first one, I leave that one off. I don't want that to happen during a fight where I want to run to a spot and suddenly Kratos pauses to pick something up.
Remapping the control makes it better especially how I played in the previous God Of War where they had the Classic setting which was more preferable
The most helpful thing for me was probably the navigation on R3. Touch pad quick turn is definitely nice too.
Really glad they helped you! :) I'll make this style video for future games too so make sure to stick around and subscribe 😊

auto pick-up of essentials, auto jumping over obstacles and qte holds rather than button mashing are the best if your hands hurt easily
Definitely! :)
I haven’t played Ragnarok yet, but my favorite setting in the first one was Immersive Mode where it turns off all HUD and bars. You’d think you need them but if you never had them, you won’t miss it. It makes the game feel even more cinematic! Try it!
What about ability cd? Mini bosses and berserkers ( replace for valkyries) are more challenging this game. I think I need those…
thanks very useful indeed

hi i have a question just out of curiosity🤔🙂
is it possible to get the nornir chest in temple of light or the other nornir chests in alfheim later if you missed or dident manage to get them during the story mission in Alfheim🤔🤔🤔🙂?
Honestly, not too sure; I haven't got that far yet.
That said, I am 99% sure Cory Barlog confirmed a week or so back (or maybe a different Santa Monica employee) that there aren't any missable trophies, so I imagine you'd be able to go back and get it later if it was of importance. :)
@@Octorious ok ty for info
I only find 2 things helpful for me
Thx 💪🏻
I'm glad that some of them were still useful to you :) Better 2 than none! :D
O for dodge makes so much sense
When I quit the game, no sound in my PS5 menu and in other games. Any suggestions...? :( When I turn off the High Frame Rate Mode, no sound in the GOW Ragnarok as well.
Auto pick ups for health mess with combat because it actually staggers enemies. So you should only do it when need it not as soon as you see it
This is a good point and something I overlooked. I recommend using Economy instead so that stones arent auto picked up, but loot is.
Why does my kratos look so close to the screen when moving around in 3rd person? Is there a way to back him off lol???
How do you turn off that stupid force feedback for trigger or attack in cinematics? Hate it when it feels like my controller is busted or forcibly making it harder to hit the trigger button aka R2
😂 there is no option for that I guess because it is a Sony title too so you can disable the trigger Feedback at ps5 Menü and that will Work the Same
I love the dual sense but I hate the trigger sins day one only astros playroom was a cool experience bot if you play Shooter even games like Horizon with bow feel weird if there is a Feedback everytime you shoot
@@A-L-3-x-X-x_88 Thanks turned vibrations down to zero and it still does it in game so annoying. I will try it from PS settings. It literally ruins the experience it's not for me not trying to wrestle R2 to press a button lol

They need an option to silence audio hints from NPCs for puzzles and combat hints, it's a minor gripe but it I don't need my hand held for this type of game
I kind of like it tbh as it adds to the realism and immersion. I can understand you wanting it off though, so hopefully Sony Santa Monica see this and consider adding it as a setting :)
I'll be changing to Auto pickup.
Saved Tyr and went immediately into a cutscene and could not pick up the items from the boss before exiting the mine via the cut scene very frustrating
You just pick them up from the chest next to the brothers. Items aren't lost.
@@Voidsway I didn't even think about that, after the fight I just got frustrated and started over from scratch.

Has anyone else had issues with camera drift on this game??? It started doing it with me 3/4 through the game and it’s driving me absolutely nuts. I saw another reviewer say this was an issue so I don’t think it’s my controller. I really like some feedback before I drop 70 bucks on a new one
I personally haven't. I'm not in a position to be able to check right now, but if there's a deadzone setting in the camera options, try tweaking it. It does look like it's more a problem with the game though: www.reddit.com/r/PSPlay/comments/yqzt2p/ios_god_of_war_ragnarok_drift_issue/
So maybe wait and see if there's a patch at some point soon; there was an update over the weekend, so that might have even addressed it :)
Failing that, do the typical ways to try to fix stick drift. If that doesn't help, then use it as an excuse to get the limited edition God of War controller :)
Thanks🗣️
Does anyone know why I have to disable GAME MODE from TV and disable 120hz from ps5 for the game to work? I adjusted the brightness on TV to 0 but it is to bright

Is there any setting to automatically recover the axe when it’s thrown? It’s a pain for me to push the triangle every time I use it.
