My fascination with Romania started with videos like this about the beauty and peaceful nature of the rural areas. Their unique food, music and culture is fascinating. Eric Donaldson said in his song the land of my birth "though some people say we are poor, but the progress you make my friend is not always how rich you are". My daughter in-law a is a Romanian medical doctor, a resident cardiologist. A very, very beautiful lady, she has been on maternity leave with pay for a year now and she is still entitled to another year of maternity leave to spend with my grandson. My grandson receives an allowance monthly from the government as a citizen. He will go to school virtually free to PhD level. Fees for citizens are very minimal. THAT IS SOCIAL WEALTH. My son had his PhD in computer science in Lasi one of the best Universities. He did masters in Politechnica Bucharest one of the best Universities in Europe. Romania has 4G network in most parts. Accomodation is relatively cheap and beautiful. My children have lived in the USA but they prefer Romania. I will love to have a country home in rural Romania for my retirement. Romania should not be compared to any country. Romania is unique and rich in history, tradition, architecture and social responsibility. That is some unique wealth very few countries can boast of. Thanks for your video.
Dear Dr Charles Apoki, once again thank you so much for sharing your heartfelt fascination with Romania and your family's wonderful experiences there! Your thoughtful words are very much appreciated and we're glad you enjoyed our video! Thank you! ❤️
We Romanians know it's one of the best. We try to perserve it as much as we can soon many many people.will leave in Romania that were not born in Romania. It's already happening and it îs something new. Me personally I love that! But my fellow patriots hate newcomers , some of them self called patriots.
Sir you are a Romanian now so we are very happy to welcome you and share our history and culture through your grandson now. This comes from a member of an very old Romanain family from Maramures since 1300-1400.

Also, the gipsyies are not so nice as you describe them. Most of them get financial help from the state and some of them even get accomodation but still choose to live in poverty because this is their lifestyle. Most of them are a desease for our country, just few of them are really nice and try to exceed their situation.
1. I'm tired of foreigners' old obsessions about poverty. I haven't watched the video on Sicily (which is poorer than Romania), but I am curious if there is something about poverty there. We're not a poor country. In fact, our economy has been booming for the last 20 years and it's going to catch up with the West pretty soon. Yes, we are not Germany, but... according to Eurostat, the purchasing power sits at 74% of the EU's average; the median wage calculated in PPP is higher than in Portugal and Greece; there are more working opportunities here than in many of the Western countries because our economy is far more dynamic, this is why we are able to import around 150k foreign workers/year from all over the world and still increasing. 2. I'm tired of the obsession with our gypsy minority and showing them riding carts on the streets. I never see people talking about the tons of marginalized minorities when vloggers travel to France or Spain for example. But Romanian gypsies are ALWAYS included in vlogs or documentaries. WHY?!?!? The fact that they don't work does not imply people discriminate against them. 3. I was mad when you talked about Schengen because it sounded like you admitted Austria's reason as being right. Austria was heavily criticized by the EU and there is clear proof Romania is NOT a route for illegal immigration. Anyway... I felt bad watching this otherwise interesting video.
Dear Eugen, firstly, we have to thank you for taking the time to address our video with as much vigor and depth as you did. You highlighted a number of interesting issues. We are very sorry if you misunderstood the Austrian part. We sincerely hope that you can imagine that we didn't mean it the way it came across to you. Thanks again for watching and for your frank words. Take care and best wishes!
I think that is more like a clash between a selfish "having fun", loisir culture where "wealthy" people at their retirement are traveling, enjoying cruises and of course being very important for the economy, an entire chain of industries, with a "work culture" where people at their retirement are keeping being active, socially integrated and earning money as long as their health and age is allowing them to. In the Western countries there are also people who are employed and still happy to live in the rural area, farming their little homestead, not traveling the world even if not "poor", but enjoying the horseback trips, and trying to make a little business of their hobbies. But you are right I also came to the conclusion that the poor people in the Western world are worse than in Romania. Because they can't afford a car not to say a cart and an workhorse while living off the social welfare. Romania was a land where historically the poor Swiss migrated to no doubt. I don't know if it wasn't towards the North Eastern Moldavian lands they were traveling to. But I am afraid that the communist period or after it erased the Swiss heritage of Romania.
You forgot to mention the most important thing, spain has more gypsies than Ro and france looks nowdays like an african islamized country ….but….doesn’ t matter😂
Actually, the migration reason that was raised by Austria is false, and you should not promote false content on your youtube channel. You should check the information before you promote it!

The westward raids were stopped only with the Magyar defeat of the Battle of Lechfeld in 955, which led to the establishment of the Holy Roman Empire in 962, a new political order in Western Europe. Locuri sarace sunt peste tot in lume si mizerie ,găsești chiar in Zürich, sau Luzern ,Genf sau Basel ! Have a fun
I'm Romanian on my mother's side and could be a dual US-Romanian citizen if I got all the paperwork completed. I did learn from my grandparents that their surnames are considered quite common over there, so I doubt I'd be able to trace anything back to my great-grandparents. How common are last names of "Popa" and "Denis?" I thought your video was fantastic and showed a side that I considered a bit more rustic than poor. I honestly didn't think "poor" at all when I watched the opening. I'd love to visit one day, but money is tight for everyone lately. I only wished my grandparents taught us Romanian. I would have loved to have learned it. Looking forward to watching your other video on Romania later!
Dear LisaLynn Marie, thank you for your kind words about our video. It's wonderful that you have Romanian heritage, we hope you can visit Romania to connect with your roots! 1. Oktoberfest Munich might be the greatest Festival in Germany, but here, in Romania, especially in Transilvania that has a lot in international electro music festivals that brings foreigners each year like flies to a carcass (Untold, After Hills, TM Base, Electric Castle etc.) considerably fewer people have ever heard of this Oktoberfest thingamajingy. 2. The "real" Count Dracul doesn't exist. Vlad IIIrd, Voivode (Prince) of Ungro-Vlahia and the countries of Almaj and Făgăraș was Valahia's (not Transilvania's) country fair and just ruler and warlord that punished thieves, criminals and monstrous and proud invaders, protecting Europe. 3. The saxons that "left" the country were actually very profitably sold, the countries made some sort of a deal with a price/head of settler descendant. 4. Fun coincidence, Măgura, your "sweet escape" from the city, is also the name of a sweet little chocolate cake. 5. Poorest in EU? We have the richest country on the Planet in natural resources, history and culture. By GDP/capita, you mean? Highest growth since 15 years ago every year and still growing. 500% atm. We'll continue to grow unless another war on this ancient lands puts the economy on hold. Lots of work to do still. 6. Migration doesn't come through Romania, the veto has no real bases, as ALL the requirements for joining have been met for years already. Being in EU means you can travel without a passport of VISA anyway. Schengen Eurozone would only make businesses in both Romania and other EU countries LOSE 20b/day by waiting for trucks of merchandise to pass the borders. 7. Your saxon settlers have been going through forced maghiarization and their language is mostly Hungarian now, but some of their culture and traditions, while mixed with Romanian and Hungarian, have been kept. 8. Bran Castle's last owners were Queen Marie of Romania (from the British Empire) and King Ferdinand I (of the German Hohenzollern family) and it's their descendants' museum now. You're literally paying money to Germany's Royal Family too by visiting.
@@eedragonr6293 That was mean and unnecessary. I literally said there's lots of work to do still and that We are rich in resources, not richest in the world by gdp/capita, but We have a constant growth. Romanian countries are not known for having enough prosperous peace period to perfect its trade, they have been attacked constantly and kept down by empires for millennia and parts of them are still under occupation or became Romanian speaking enclaves outside Romania. My heart bleeds... Nor have these countries formed empires and conquered territories and nations. It's not the way, not in Our veins, not how We survived and We rather do Our Own thing or copy stuff We need from richer trading nations to learn how to get better than stealing, burning, pillaging, bombing, killing. We have ALOT of experience in defending Our lands, the gateway to Western Europe and surviving against all odds. Not so much in fighting others for profit.

I loved your video, very nicely done. Just to clarify a few sensitive things: 1) Austria denied Romania's entry to Schengen implying there are immigration routes going through Romania, when there is none, the routes are through Croatia, Serbia and Hungary. Austria is the biggest thief of Romania and has all Romanian petrol and gas , our commercial bank stolen from the Romanian people through big bribes and interference into Romanian politics...it is the most hated country in Romania, apart from Russia. So...yeah..unfortunately..they want another "big deal" from us to "allow " RO to Schengen....all the salt mines and resources which are many and rich in Romania. People are poorer in Romania than some EU countries because Austria, Holland, Russia and even Germany have been stealing our resources through bribery of some of the politicians, becoming 90% owners!!!!!!!!! and interfering in our political affairs. Well, this is true and people should know it! 2) Gypsies are not marginalized and some of them are extremely rich, but you don't show those. Schooling is free in RO but they don't like sending their children to school, jobs are plenty, actually there are so many jobs available in construction, hotel and food industry that we have to bring Asian people to do the work!!!!! it is simple..some of them don't like to work...they like to sing, play instruments, make coper pottery , they have their tradition, some of them are outlaws...but work or educate like a Romanian ...most don't like that....ok, I hope, you who read this...understands that RO was complete owner of its land and resouces in dec 1989 with zero international debt....to be able to enter EU or NATO< western countries forced ROmania to sell its land resources and banks for a mere amount of money and holding just a poor 10 or 20 % percent of what was all Romanian people's wealth. They forced us close down our industry, Romania was self sufficient in 1989, producing everything, forced us to import fruit and vegetables from their countries, foced us to make laws to be able to sell our land, Romanians lost jobs, many went to west looking for jobs abroad, Romania is becoming depopulated because our industry "disappeared" because thet's what Austria, Holland and germany desired!!!! and Russia whish is deeply in oil and gas business, through a third party.....Thank you for your attention!
Hello Cristina! Thank you for sharing your perspective and insights on these sensitive issues. It's sad to hear about the negative impacts of political and economic interference from other countries … 😔 We are sending best wishes and love to you. Thanks again for watching and liking our video. 🙏🏻

Great Travel Video! Ever since I read the first chapter of Bram Stookers "Dracula" I have been curious about the place. I mean - think of those great nature descriptions of Transylvania before the main character of the story enters the castle! It felt like that when you showed shots in this video of some peasants going by a horse carriage with a pig upon the carriage in this video! That felt like the beginning of "Dracula" to me! Amazing how beautiful this region in Romania is! Great beauty, great food it seems - especially since the locals seem to enjoy good food - the festivals must be some evidence of that! I like the way you shoot your videos too: Many shots of yourself walking in a relaxed way. Something a little bit different from some travel videos I would suggest! You have a good voice. That in combination by the good music creates a feeling of being immersed in this region up in the Transylvanian Mountains! Nice that you shot footage of animals too - the video footage becomes a little bit more "alive" because of that I think! Something to be improved: Not much - felt like a great experience to me - I love the way your travel videos make me feel: Alive, vibrant, hungry for a good adventure not *blood* though! Great Travel Video! If you feel like it take a look at the travel section of my homesite "Continuation" where I have posted many articles about many subjects connecting to an epic travel journey in South East Asia I did some years ago. www.andreasingo.se/travelstories.html Enjoy!

@aloe vera clearly she wanted to make a video about how badly treated are the gypsies in Romania. But she forgot to mention, or does not know that they choose this lifestyle, they live on social security and never worked a day in their life. A bit different than the Albanians of Switzerland, since the Gypsyes have been around here for many hundreds of years, all have Romanian names (or Hungarian or Turkish, depending on the area) and a majority of them don't speak the Gypsy (Romani) language.
I was just stating the fact they are a different ethnicity having the citizenship of the country they grew up in. Many roma are mixed and fully integrated in the society to the point you can't differenciate them from locals/native. Albanians and roma have of course no similarities in terms of Migration. Switzerland is just full of albanian "secondos".

I would repeat the same comments which I made on the other part of this documentary. I am from Pakistan and love travelling, though never visited Romania, which is indeed a unique country with a rich history, diverse landscapes, and vibrant communities, as depicted in the documentary I have watched. It's always inspiring to see how people from different parts of the world come together to support each other and create positive change, like the producers of this documentary helping poor people and hungry animals. I wish to visit this country in the future in order to explore its beauty and meet its friendly locals. Travelling is a great way to broaden our horizons, challenge our perspectives, and create unforgettable memories. Love from Pakistan.

The standard of living differed from county to county, from region to region, but I can tell you that it is not a cheap country. Here you have access to the sea, plains, Danube, mountains, and many monasteries per square kilometer. There are places to visit in each county and each county is different.

@@goingtoworld Yes, good idea...because Romania has many wonderful people with wonderful stories...Tarnaveni is also a town worth visiting...and even to stay a few days at the Hotel Trei Brazi...unforgettable experience...Romanian and Spanish are my favourite languages... ruclips.net/video/Ccc1XfCU71A/видео.html
Everyone thinks that Roma people or gypsies are lacking rights or they are left outside work opportunities and they cannot do so, or are marginalized but in reality it is quite the contrary. They are given equal rights to education, they are even assisted by the state and have free education. Every class has as least some spots reserved for Roma people. Every workplace has to accept them if they apply. Yet no one asks the real question: do they want to apply? Do they want to work? No. They want to stay and do nothing all day while being socially assisted by the state and by the back of honest hardworking people who pay for their social assistance so they can keep on stealing, making more kids (for more free money from the state) and complaining they are discriminated against. Literally from 10 Roma people, MAYBE 2 will want to work, and out of those 2 only one will actually succeed. They start school and they quit. They barely finish 10 classes if any at all because they quit young. Again, why? Because stealing is easier, cheaper, and besides that they get money from the state for being poor. So excuse us when we get triggered about arguments that they (and implicitly us Romanians) are impoverished and are all treated as gypsies. In fact, if you take a closer look at normal people here in Transylvania you will find out that we are very hospitable with strangers, very friendly, always selfless and these are qualities you RARELY find in the west. I've nearly been spat on by French, Spanish and German people just for being Romanian, when I have done nothing wrong by them besides living and minding my own business. Just because beggars and thieves happen to sometimes be Romanian (even though there are other nationalities that do this too). So you see why this is such a debate, always...
Let me start by saying I enjoyed the video. But I know that those people who look poor and travel by carrige with horses. Those people own more land than any other European person I've met. And every time I go to a supermarket and have to buy all "bio" food they sell to us, I think of those people who can provide for them self's from working the land they own and have fresh vegetables anytime they want. And every time I go back to my city apartment that I pay rent for, I think of those people that you see, who are truly free and not closed between 4 walls like us. So I feel more sorry for the rest of us who are living in the good world. 😅
Hi Petica, wow, it's interesting to hear your perspective! Indeed, there are different ways of defining what it means to be wealthy or free. 😇🙏🏻 Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts and your positive feedback. Much love to you!

I enjoy watching these types of RUclips videos because I didn't know Dracula was a real thing I thought it was a myth?? But Dracula was a real person who was a real vampire 🦇. But Romania looks like a beautiful country and I enjoyed seeing how they live and culture, and how they have fun with their yearly events!! Also the girl who uploaded this video seems very nice to share this with the rest of the world 🌎.
Hi Steve! We appreciate your nice message. Thank you for watching and for your encouraging words! 🙏🌟 P.S. While Dracula is a famous character, he was not a real vampire. 😅
"Sylvania" means "forest land, wood" and "tran or tra" means "beyond, across"...from latin. Transylvania is the land "beyond the forest". Pennsylvania means Penn's Wood.
@@Foreverinbetween thank you. Interesting. In that case I'm guessing Tasmania would mean "Tasman's woods" or similar. And Romania is means Roman's forest?

Excellent! I might bring my family to Brasov next year, and make day trips in the surroundings from there. My girls are 8 and 12 y.o., what do you recommend for us?
Dear Øyvind! That sounds like a great plan! Brasov is a wonderful city with plenty of things to see and do. For day trips, we would recommend visiting the nearby Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's Castle, which is a must-see attraction in the region. You can also take a trip to the Rasnov Citadel, a well-preserved medieval fortress that offers a stunning view of the surrounding area (and there is a big Dinosaur park for kids). For nature lovers, a visit to the nearby Piatra Craiului National Park or the Bucegi Mountains is highly recommended, where you can go hiking. We hope this helps! Happy family travels!
@@goingtoworld Fantastic, and thanks for the advices! In 2019 we were in Venice, we haven't travelled since. We'll visit Lisbon, Lagos and Amsterdam this summer. If it all goes well and the war in Ukraine doesn't escalate, I hear about plans that Romania might annex parts of Ukraine, then we'll might continue to Transylvania next year. I watched more videos, and do now consider one week in Brasov, one week in Sighisoara, and one week in Sibiu.Piatra Craiului National Park sounds awesome🙂
@@bioliv1 Romania has no intention of anexing parts of Ukraine, from where did you got that? Ukraine (by former USSR) has small parts from Romania that was always romanian land, are you talking anexing these or to what are you reffering. Until that check out how Ukraine is destroying the Danube Delta by deepening navigational corridors.
Everything you like and admire in the Transilvanian German culture have to be known as a perpetual issue of this land. The Saxons, actually german jewish, was invited to habit the Carpathian mountains areas being exempt from taxes. The Romanians, in the same period of time were treated as a second class citizens (as also the szekely) , even being all the time 70%of the population in Transilvania and they were the only taxes payers . Recently in Sibiu was erected a statue to count Brukenthal which was the one who interdicted to the romanians to walk to the paved streets of Sibiu, they were allowed to use just the sloppy streets. Today the problem is the same, all the west European big companies are selling in Romania more expensive than in the western countries, are paying four times smaller retributions for the employees and don't pay any taxes as "having no profit". This includes the Austrian/Russian companies which by the way are cutting whole mountains of forest (I didn't see nothing about this savage behaviour and the disaster of the "nice Transilvanian area") and in a good relationship with the corrupted politicians are not paying the taxes which would justify the losses. So Romania is maybe the richest country in Europe but the people are the poorest in Europe due to the invasive culture of business which suppose to be a honest one but as we know where are the money is also the corruption. You will see people in prisons for small tip but any western company paying no taxes (how) involved in any trial. If you don't like the poorness of Romania speak with the western countries and EU leadership. What the "development" brought in Romania are the coloured glass balls or the sweet chemicals but in the meantime we lost the industry, the peoples, the resources and the traditions.
Hello Ionel, thank you for shedding light on these challenges faced by Romania. We appreciate your thoughts on the history and current state of Romania, and we understand your concerns about the problems the country is facing. We hope so much to see positive changes in the future. 🙏🏻

Also, the gipsyies are not so nice as you describe them. Most of them get financial help from the state and some of them even get accomodation but still choose to live in poverty because this is their lifestyle. Most of them are a desease for our country, just few of them are really nice and try to exceed their situation.
Corect
In sicily where the guy is from ,all the people are ‘tanned’ and Look gypsie ….mafia ,poverty and so on…😅😅😅
I think the lazy GYPSIES ruins everything they are expecting handoffs!
Actually, the migration reason that was raised by Austria is false, and you should not promote false content on your youtube channel. You should check the information before you promote it!
In this video they are showing only gypsies and not a romanian. Do you wonder why or you know already the answer? 🙂

@@Dondenosdespertamoshoy what dacia? 😂😂😂 The Hungarians took possession of the Carpathian Basin (corresponding to the later Kingdom of Hungary) in a pre-planned manner, with a long move-in between 862-895, and launched a number of campaigns both westward into former Francia and southward into the Byzantine Empire. Have a fun

@@goingtoworldIt's sickening how you keep thanking people for their feedback, but chose to present Romania as a backward country, focusing on gipsy communities. Get off your high horse before travelling to other countries. Otherwise you can simply stay home. I hate it when foreigners try to present Romania like an exotic, fully agrar piece of land. Hello from Tyler Texas U.S.A.

Yes, we think the surnames "Popa" and "Denis" are relatively common in Romania … 🇷🇴❤️ Have a wonderful Sunday, we are looking forward to hearing from you again! 🫶
Dear Alexandru Patru! Mulţumesc mult! Your information is very useful, thank you so much for taking the time to share it with us!

I am pretty sure that earlier poor Swiss have migrated to Romania.

Thank you for your visit & videos❤❤❤❤
Many thanks, Clara, for coming along with us through our videos! Much love to you! ♥️

13:53 you want to make a video about Romania, or about the Gypsies?
@aloe vera clearly she wanted to make a video about how badly treated are the gypsies in Romania. But she forgot to mention, or does not know that they choose this lifestyle, they live on social security and never worked a day in their life. But she forgot to mention how bad they threat gypsies and even romanians that live in Germany.
She wanted also to send the message that Romania isn’t integrated in the UE lifestyle standards. Well I must say that we clearly shouldn’t be « westernized ».

They are romanian nationals but ethnically romani, such as albanians in Switzerland who hold swiss nationality.

Hello Dragoș, thank you for sharing your perspective.

Ok cool 😎
Romania, Transylvania, Pennsylvania, Tasmania, Sylvania , what does the "-ania" mean? Any linguist or word-nerd please explain for us...
The more I see videos of people making Transylvania kind of gives me an idea where the land of where my dad was born from and part of or my mom was born from
Wow, that's amazing, exploring our roots can be a meaningful and enriching experience! 🥰 We wish you and your loved ones only the best!
Which part of your mom was born in Romania? The head..the legs...the arms?...I couldn't resist. It sounded funny. Please don't be 😡
@@romaif8137 Emil Cosman on RUclips mentioned this, you can check him out. He's a Romanian🙂
@@bioliv1 history is whats to be checked out. Romania has never been agressor state, in its whole history.
Nice muy bello
Muchas gracias Hernan! 🌹
I 've seen that now a national park is owned by a Swiss NGO making profits from safari tourism. The trees are safe. I presume that it is managed by the state according to the Romanian political tradition.
I From Bangladesh bt basically i was in romania permanent residents working the Most of Story Romania is so so beautiful everywhere so much Castle better for Bangladesh

Super-video's ..something i've noticed with travel vlogs is the lack of coverage of Medjugorje in Bosnia..and it's supposed to be closest place to Heaven on Earth..maybe ye could do something on it someday 🙂. God Bless -from Ireland !
Hello our dear friend from Ireland! Thank you for your kind words and suggestion! Medjugorje is indeed a unique and spiritually significant place, known for reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary. I was there a few years ago and can recommend it. Unfortunately, we don't have a RUclips video of it. Good bless you too! 🙏

Well, I won’t say that your video is a look to the real Transylvania... contrary ....
Ist gestohlen von Ungarn😊🇭🇺✌🏻...

Their later claim to be descendants of the Roman colonists planted there in the 2nd century AD., seems tendentious and improbable, for the Romans' withdrawal from [modern] Rumania ([in] 270) and the appearance of the Vlach states are separated by a millennium in which the country was the property of Slav and nomad and which is devoid of all evidence of Roman survival. Almost certainly the Vlachs came from the western Balkans."

Későbbi állításuk, hogy a Kr.u.a 2. században odatelepített rómaiak utódai, célzatosnak és kevéssé hihetőnek látszik.
