    I mean my favourite game is Final Fantasy specifically 7, but No Man's Sky is the addiction I come back to. I think NMS is not most peoples favourite game, but at this point it's an addiction they enjoy and that isn't bad for your health... I think.

    Number 7 and 8 are so true. So many underused parts, so many things that could be improved greatly and bring much more depths or at least new avenues to have fun... the settlements, frigate expeditions, squadron (such a hindrance by the way these guys), event pets, minotaur...
    Settlement: build a tech tree for them, a research center where we'd have to hire specialists to research specific branch, a storage where to put raw materials and some manufactured good to produce high level stuff... Why dont we go on mission with settlers?
    Frigate expeditions: let us go on with them, negotiate a trade deal, go fetch a mising item somewhere to close a deal, intimidate a rival by shooting their cargo... Why dont we go on archeology and discovery missions with our explorers? Go fighting with our combat frigates? etc
    Squadron: why cant we equip their ships and max their weapons? why cant they die so there's a real stake?
    Pets: why dont they get into a fight when there's a predator? Why cant they store something on them? not very useful but at least they'd be more than just things that are there...
    Why can't we tell the minotaur to go fetch carbon? they'd go straight to nearest tree, bring back carbon that's it! Simple simple thing but so useful!

      These are some fantastic suggestions! Each mechanic you mentioned would definitely benefit from the added depth. I will say though that depending on your pet's nature it can actually enter a fight on your behalf. Rarely. lol Thanks for commenting!

    Hey, the other day i found a green and silver viper fighter ship, it has a single thruster and vector wings, i think it matches your theme pretty well, it is in eissentam at the coordinates, inverted droplet, bird, whale, dragonfly, triangles, galaxy, beetle, triangles, whale, inverted droplet, inverted droplet, inverted droplet. It is just something that i think to would be nice for your collection, no pressure.
    Sidenote: i absolutely love your channel, especially these podcasts, your unique content is realy pleasing to watch.

    I don't blame Hello Games for keeping shtum. The PR campaign for NMS demonstrated clearly that they should not get involved with the press.
    The thing that's always bugged me about NMS is the god-awful slowness of interactions:
    - takes forever to get rid of that 'press Tab to skip' screen when you enter a system, even those you've previously visited,
    - pointless camera movements when you click on a damaged container/machinery,
    - having to go through the same crawling text feeds ( "the terminal has ceased blah blah") to get back to the options you were just at.
    Individually they're nothing, but cumulatively they're a huge waste of time. Game play options to speed things up would be great.

    I love No Man's Sky, I have played it far more than any other game I have owned. I still play most weekends because I have friends who play and it's a way for us to spend some time together even though we live far away from each other. I have to admit though that I just don't have that much fun with the game itself these days because I have done pretty much everything to the point that everything either feels like it's either too easy or it feels like work. I still like the expeditions because I get to start fresh and have a goal in mind but a lot of times I feel like once I get past the first 1-2 phases I start losing interest. The thing that made me like No Man's Sky in the first place was exploration, at this point I haven't seen a planet I was surprised by in a long time or even a creature for that matter. I still enjoy other parts of the game but I really wish there was a bit more variety with planets. I feel like they almost need to just add a few small changes without putting them in the patch notes or at least not specifying what they are so that we can have that sense of discovery again.

    Big congrats to you man on 25k, well deserved!
    I love NMS and I've been blown away by what they've added to it. I've only really been at it about 2 years (never had a good enough computer for it) but I remember being super excited about it when the trailers came out for it. I agree that Settlements could use a touch up to make them more significant. Upgrading them is the most fun part, but after that it's kind of just another place to teleport to. There's so many in game stories about the dangers and rewards of 'normal' folk working with the Travelers, it'd be cool to see some more significance, whether in gameplay or story, out of them.
    And then of course the space stations, but that's a topic that's been beaten into the ground. I'm hopeful that the 'leaks' of the updated space stations were genuine, maybe even as part 4 of the current Void narrative we're looking forward to now. But as always, we should keep are expectations low and be thankful for what each update does give us, as opposed to what we wanted it to.

    The reason why people complained about multiplayer is because Sean Murray said it in the interview when he was asked that question, and then it wasn't present on release. But I agree, it's impressive what they did considering this huge universe.

    • @Kanaju
      @Kanaju  7 месяцев назад +3

      I realize that. I just think it's odd that someone would look at a game labeled single-player on the box and store listings, that has 3 years of promotion without a single frame of multiplayer gameplay, no multiplayer concept art, and where Sean said that it would be almost impossible to ever see another player even if multiplayer was there, and then spend $60 in 2016 money expecting a massive multiplayer experience despite all that. It boggles my mind.
      I understand how hyped people were, but based on Sean's remarks at the time, something akin to Atlas Rises' multiplayer is the most I would have expected. Expecting 16 indie devs to build what would be the largest MMO world ever on top of a navigable universe, on a console in 2016 no less, is pretty far-fetched. I realize I'm speaking with the benefit of hindsight, but I genuinely didn't expect to see anyone else when I bought the game. It looked like a solo experience in a shared universe, which it was.
      Idk, I just remember all the toxicity back then and it was unbearable. People really paid for something that was never advertised and then were upset when the product resembled the prerelease gameplay rather than whatever infinite MMORPG they imagined. All from a couple of outdated interview lines.
      All that said, I was flabbergasted when HG actually pulled it off. I still don't think they get enough credit for what they accomplished. People act like pulling off a miracle was just what HG were always supposed to do, as if it wasn't a miracle. lol But all these years later and there's still nothing else like it (even if it's totally unreliable at the moment). 🤷‍♂️
      Sorry for the rant part 2. 😅 I suppose it's a sore point for me. 😅😅😅 Thanks for watching! 🙏🙏🙏

    • @TabalugaDragon
      @TabalugaDragon 7 месяцев назад +4

      @@Kanaju I get what you mean, official info and the trailers. But when the main gamedev directly says it'll be there, it's pretty normal to expect. Like when Blizzard advertised PvE for Overwatch 2. Sean didn't say "maybe we'll implement it, we're still not sure\thinking about it", no, it was a very confident "yes!", hence why people were angry, they saw it as a promise.
      I also liked NMS on release and it got WAY too much hate when it was released. To be fair, some of the hate was earned considering the fake trailers with butterflies, animals knocking down trees, giant scaly sandworms which slithered OVER the ground instead if flying or jumping like they do now and so on. Sony just shouln't have pushed HG for such an early release and and Sean shouldn't have said the things he wasn't sure about with such confidence, is all I'm saying.
      It;s not even close to shameless Falloud 76 release, and I can see HG genuingly trying to do their best, most of the time at least. But like you, I do wish they focused on the core game features like fixing bugs and variation in space stations rather than just adding new features.

    @nicked_fenyx 7 месяцев назад +2

    Love this. I'm also a day one NMS player, and agree with pretty much everything you said. I too loved the game at launch, but I also enjoy a lot of the features added since then. I definitely wish HG would put a tad more emphasis on quality vs quantity of content. Like, they give us all these huge, free updates, and that's great... but so much of the older content is either bugged or was simply released and then forgotten about, wasting its potential. Another thing that bothers me is the state of the updates at release. It's so bad that I personally just expect the game to be a buggy mess for the first week or two (or more) after any major update. HG either needs to hire more playtesters, or better ones. Or both. But yeah, it's kind of a mess.
    I also agree wholeheartedly with needing better communication from HG. I get that this may be a case of "once bitten, twice shy" due to the whole launch fiasco, but HG's response has been to go too far in the opposite direction. This gets especially annoying when there are huge, game breaking bugs left in place for weeks or even months at a time, with no word from HG to even acknowledge that they're working on it. I look at the way other devs interact with their communities via social media, polls, etc and can't help but feel a bit envious. HG could do better.
    That said, this is still an amazing game. With thousands of hours spent playing it, I still find new stuff fairly often, and routinely encounter scenes that make me stop and wonder at the beauty. This truly is my "forever game." But that doesn't mean it can't be improved. I hope HG sees your video and takes note of the things their most dedicated players seek. I'd love to see these wrinkles ironed out so that NMS can finally live up to its full potential.

    Congratulations for the 25K suscribers! Well deserved
    I wish the animals in the game would make more sense for the biome. It always breaks the immersion for me when I see a superfurry beast in a desert. Or a tortoise in an arctic world (granted, you could say that this is not like an Earth-tortoise and that it's not cold-blooded and stuff like that, I guess).
    Other than that, I'd love to see more variety in the animals. To me, creatures basically divide in two categories: some are very weird, but in a way that feels very "scripted", if you will, such as the subterranean tentacles or the rolling eyeballs. Then the others feel more procedurally generated, but end up looking extremely mundane (I've lost count of how many creatures that look like cows, large rats and deers I've seen). However, I don't have much faith that they'll ever increase the variety in the fauna: after they released Companions, it felt like the developers wanted to say "OK, this is it, now go collect the creatures that already exist".

    i definitely agree with your second point, admittedly i have no idea how people can play the same game for hundreds of hours straight and not get burnt out on it lol. i need a bit of variation on what i play
    my own confession is i do wish that hello games would make a performance/optimization/bug fix focused update for last gen console. at least from what ive heard, especially recently, the performance is not that great and the game crashes alot. it makes me feel bad as a ps5 player that last gen buddies have a worse experience
    i remember i was downvoted to oblivion once on the no mans sky subreddit for suggesting that and most of the comments were blaming last gen peeps for not upgrading to a new console/pc.
    like i guess you could buy a new console but not everyone has the money (or wants to spend the money) for a new console for just one game. hello games got the game to run on switch and from my experience its pretty alright, i feel those switch optimizations would help alot if implemented on last gen consoles!

I would really love to play Atlas rises because that’s where I started, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to do that on my PS4. Anyway, do I want to go back there? Absolutely not. There’s so much cool stuff that’s been added! But I do miss some of the vibe of it. And I often end up wandering around and exploring. But I’m so grateful I can have bases now😂 congrats again! I hope to be able to sign up once finances are a little different. Thank you deserve it!

      Yes, skipping the (tedious) Artemis quest line once it's been completed on one save. Having to go through the same lengthy sequence on every new game is a pain, especially as it gates access to some features of the game (for example, dissonant planets & crashed sentinel ships). It's one of the reasons why I rarely continue with an expedition save game.
      Note that the "custom game" options allow skipping the very first part of the Artemis quest line but not the long, tedious part.

  • @ShmankyTube

    My wishes:
    • The planetary descent looks rough. From a distance, the planet textures are very "low-resolution" in the sense that it doesn't represent what a planet looks like, except for some of the coast lines. As you approach, the planet starts loading in a very patchy way and you can see rectangular regions loading. Then, clouds might pop in that weren't visible from orbit. As you approach, it loads a white misty layer which I think is supposed to be the fading effect that you get when you look at a mountain from a distance from the ground but it looks terrible as you descend. As you get closer, the ground can have a different colour than what it looked like from orbit; the rocks and trees don't load until you're close to the ground; the animals don't load until you've gotten on foot. Descending to a planet is a miserable experience because you can't trust when you're seeing.
    • The "world" of No Man's Sky is a sphere with your ship at the centre. Moving through space moves the planets, keeping your ship at the centre. You discover this when you first try to fly to the "sun" and quickly realize that the "sun" is an image on the dome around your ship, along with the stars. You can turn around and see the planets clipping outside of the dome if you've moved far away enough. This makes the "world" of No Man's Sky feel very small. I understand this was done to have a day-night cycle but I enjoy being able to fly past the sun in Starlink: Battle for Atlas and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw.

    • @Harthmann-IterationOne
      @Harthmann-IterationOne 7 месяцев назад

      They improved the planetary descent, it was way worse in 2017 I'm sure they'll update that in the future (but I'm sure there are more important things to improve first).
      About the "world" I think you mean The System and I kind of agree with you and I thought "it's just the skybox moving around me" since an astronomer friend told me that "If you were to go to the Sun you wouldn't get to it on a straight line because of the immense distnace between Earth and the Sun and you'll need to draw an arc instead" and that's actually why we see the Sun escaping from our sight before we get to it... well the explanation was way more detailed but I think you get it. The problem is the size of the system and the lenght of the day/night cycle if you think about it is not that easy to implement on the scale the game or the [REDACTED] could ever simulate with it's [REDACTED] minutes left.

    • @Kanaju
      @Kanaju  7 месяцев назад

      I would love smoother transitions down to planets. It definitely has gotten WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better since launch though.
      I would also love if the sun were an object at a fixed distance you could travel to, but I understand the limitations they're working with. I don't think moving through space moves the planets though. I think the planets are fixed, but the skybox is relative to your player position which creates the effect you've mentioned.

    I only started playing last year (switch), do you have any example of this? In regards to this topic i wish Autophage players (Actually all) could have all the customizations of Autophage NPCs (Shoulder cannon, different amount of fingers, different leg shaps, arm cannon on one side etc..
    I like going "Fashion Souls" in any game i can, this and Fatal Bullet have such a good customizer but both also need more options to put in said customizer (And fatal bullet has an height slider....and other sliders too)
    Can't wait for next update tho, space station leak looked promising

  • @SmartSmears
    @SmartSmears 7 месяцев назад

    The lack of variation in the space stations is so baffling, especially when you consider Morphite, which is just Low Poly NMS, actually has randomized space stations with different minigames in them
    Also the silence is a serious problem when Switch will go 3 weeks after an update having no idea what's going on

  • @JoeDouglas
    @JoeDouglas 6 месяцев назад

    My biggest wish for NMS (apart from fixing the bugs) is that they do more with what is already in the game. Rather than constantly adding new stuff I'd love it if they have more functionality to what is already there. Like the settlements; there are so many buildings but none of them actually do anything. Similarly the ruins, maybe ancient artifacts could be found to uncover an old language or god or something. All the anomalies you come across in space; they should connect to something bigger. So much of the game is just surface level, it needs to be deeper.

  • @SALEENS7GTR5
    @SALEENS7GTR5 7 месяцев назад +2

    I'll say it; ground combat is garbage, and hearing from others who try it, it seems to be a big turn off for keeping them playing. Many people also still only remember the game from it's launch and never give it a try. I wish the community could flip that narrative, but perhaps that keeps Hello Games humble...
    I also feel a dedicated new player experience would largely benefit the game, because I remember struggling for months to figure out crafting and resource management, knowing where to go and what to look for, etc. People get confused by the story and what it asks you to do, even though it's trying to teach you how to play.
    But, once you do figure out the fundamentals (and know how to find and sell sentinel ships for quick profit), the game is amazing.

    Also ik this isnt unique or a hot take, but no mans sky is still desperately in need of another variation update. for a game whos selling point is a vast universe full of unique planets, only two updates in the past 7 or so years have really focused on variation and the first one was honestly very minimal. Like ik theres more variation now and stuff, but when i watch modded footage or old trailers I kinda just wish we would get another variation update and we could get planets with huge forests and plants and creatures and stuff, more than we need depth added to gameplay mechanics and QoL features honestly.

    Gratz with 25K subs! I see NMS as a quantity game, not quality. Seems much to do and see, but just repeating the same with some differences. Even with duping I find it grindy. Several game mechanics makes it more annoying to play, where easily could simplify or improve those workings. Examples: One is dialogues/interactions with NCPs, another is looting. I have around 350 hours clocked on Steam, but in reality closer to 100 hours playtime, without AFK-ing or waiting or fiddling with storage restrictions and handlings. I do not like how Expeditions are designed, forced to start fresh is the main issue, the second is the overall forcing of tasks where mediocre structured and many are mundane. Only finished up to 5. Rarely fiddling with vehicles or fleet.
    As another game then take a look at Empyrion Galactic Survival, explore an universe and fight/trade with alien factions (or players), SP or MP or Coop, build vessels and bases, mine and gather resources. Check out builds at Steam Workshop, to use in game if want to.

    The most frustrating thing about No Man's Sky for me is how your discoveries are essentially useless. You fully explore a system, document and give a name to every planet, animal, rock and tree... Only to return to that system a couple months later to see that the game "forgot" about nearly everything you discovered. Almost all thing are "unknown mineral", "unknown animal"... Some stay though, usually like 1 or 2 things per planet, but everything else feels like it's getting reset. So disappointing. I want to leave my mark on the universe of the game, I want a feeling of being a diligent explorer, but what's the point, if the game just forgets about things you discovered every now and then?

    • @Kanaju
      @Kanaju  7 месяцев назад +2

      I have seen that occur, although sometimes when you scan the "unknown" things they'll pop back up with your original discovery name and date. I have stuff that says "Discovered 6 years ago by Kanaju" in 2023. Still, I also know sometimes the game won't upload things properly, or sync with discovery servers on time, so I empathize with you.
      Sometimes when the game regenerates planets or fauna it'll also remove some older discoveries. I wish we could search the database on the web somehow. That would give discoveries more weight! Thanks for watching.
