I liked the Ranger video since it's my favorite class up until we were reminded of the running joke that people hate that class, I also enjoyed the Druid, Monk, Warlock, and Rogue.
I know you normally don't do 4th edition content, but I kind of want to see your reaction to 4e classes that will likely never make it to 5e. Like Swordmage, or Warden, or Battlemind.

How to say you play artificer without playing artificer. Inventor backstory failed Invention Nuke starts game with a disarmed nuke. That weighs 500 lb component wizard using items to cast spells not. Subclass into an enchanter/ scroll making and use feats in blacksmithing.
"This device could destroy the whole tri-state area! That's why I put a self-destruct button on it in case it gets in the wrong hands. Just keep it away from any platypus in a fedora you might see."
ha ha, jokes on you perry the platypus, this time no convoluted inator, just this big Explosion-creator... Inator. I don't know why I called it that, its just a bomb, but my point is, in this case, "self destruct" means set the countdown clock to one second.

We had an artificer in our party who figured out that he can make traps that flings people in the air, and had some shirts he looted from some corpses, so we were fighting some ogres and he threw enchanted shirts at them and they went flying back like 50+ ft when they touched them. Edit: since everyone wants to know how to do this, I asked my friend and he said that he used an artificer spell from 3.5e, but he misinterpreted what it meant, so he basically made up a spell. And don’t ask me which one, because I don’t know.
The artificer in my campaign is determined to be a chaos gremlin. He escaped from bandits by making one of their swords scream and freaking them out and made a carnival worker think he was going crazy by making a hacky sack scream when it hit the ground but turned it off when the worker tried to show someone else. 😂😂
Bruh I have an artificer that's teaming up with a necromancer to try and build a way to give her constructs souls. Meanwhile everyone watching this unholy alliance is too busy with the OTHER necromancer that's trying to take over the world to actually stop us.

People don't understand how great Magic Cruise Missiles are until they've seen a camp getting obliterated while you're two cities away, sitting in a tavern and checking your enchanted watch.
Playing a goblin artificer right now and he's basically an agent of chaos and destruction. He carries around a couple kegs of dynamite with him and has left several craters in the landscape. Frustrates the party wizard because he can't understand how my magic works. "It makes no sense! The goblin just jingles his keys and shit happens! That's not right!" haha
Reminds me this meme with a curvy goblin who reveals all the curves she has are bombs yelling "Fool! Goblins are only good for chaos and destruction!!"
My DM didn't allow this class untill recently, 'cause he didn't understand it. But high elves in our world are basically a race of such guys. Their ancestors started an apocalypse before, they currently have built a manapunk civilization, are in civil war, and... It feels like it may result in another apocalypse. Edit: it's author's setting, and it's not mine. I do know it's not according to the Forgotten Realms or the Eberron lore. I don't think it was supposed to be.
@@aqj2014 it's author's settings, but from what I know about Eberron, it's pretty close for high elves specifically (may or may not be the source of inspiration). Other parts of the world are closer to classic.
That's basically my Dragonborn as well only they went full Illuminati meets the Belka's from Ace combat and decided to use their magitek to conquer other planes. They made the Warforged along the way but the Warforged are now more advanced than they are due to time fuckery.
My artillerist has made for himself a +1 all-purpose tool, wand sheath and Soul Cage in a wand; made the druid a +2 Red Dragon Scale Mail (DC was 40), working on a Robe of Eyes and Bloodwell Vial +1 for our sorcerer. I'm also going to be making a triple bomb of Acid, Alchemist Fire and Oil for Catapult and funsies. I've also tormented the DM with multiple free uses of Vortex Warp against a T-rex and then proceeded to give the item to one of our NPCs. Now, pardon me but I think I will steal the idea of the robot army, probably by way of Shield Guardian :) And my former artificer apprentice blew up the world leaving floating islands.
another trick that I did was making cursed items, as after all its still enchanting, just like alchemy can make potion or poison. Giving them out to people expected to be evil etc. It may not take long for them to discard the item but you can sure send them mad first and ruin their reputation.
Now just imagine a necromancer artificer who then raises that skeleton of Godzilla then turns it into a mobile command base as well as a GIANT FREAKING KAIJU MECH
Me as an artificer: *pulls up in platoon of the D&D equivalent of the Kodiaks from Halo Wars 2* Now this is a masterpiece, because i really put the "Art" in Artillery. It's an Art of War if you ask me (all the puns intended)
My most recent artificer(my favorite class btw) very much leaned on Magical Tinkering to do rather mundane things. The party saved a kid from a burning building and they were trying to take him to other family members. To calm the kid down he asked the kid what his favorite scent was, chocolate, picked up a rock and made it smell like chocolate. Kid calmed down and helped my character help him. Such a wonderful class with lots of creative opportunities
I mean, yes, but "I made a magic pistol with a flamethrower!" Warforged Artillerist artificer with an enhanced shield, hand crossbow with a wand of magic missles at its core as my arcane firearm, with firebolt and thornwhip as my cantrips, and shatter always prepared. And I always picked the tiny turret that was a flamethrower, and put it on the front of the gun. I did a lot of damage every turn at level 5. 2d10+1d8 one target, plus 2d8 cone. With a cantrip.
Counter-point: Party composed of a Fighter warforged (possibly samurai, we haven't gotten that far) a forge domain cleric, an artillerist, and an enchanter. We're waiting for a fight to stop and one of us can scream "Pit Stop" and swap out the warforged parts to better suit the fight.
Fun story: in a game I’m in, one of our players, who isn’t an artificer but did something I believe an artificer should be able to do, he made napalm, using his real world knowledge on how to make them, he gave my character, a Half Orc Bard Fighter 10 bolts that were dipped in the stuff, a few games later, I used one on a flaming enemy, forgetting that it would create a 10 feet cube of fire damage, one of the fellow players, a full Orc Barbarian. Was right next to the enemy, his character got knocked down, but survived, but later. The original player who made the napalm, a Triten Monk, took the bolts back and went to blow up a ship, he was caught as he was making his escape, his character was caught in a massive explosion that killed his character, but the DM gave him a chance to survive, which he did and now he has magic ghost fists... this game is still going... Fun!
My favorite Artificer I made was an Alchemist/Gunslinger/Healer... "Don't worry, my bullets will heal you for negative damage" -Uncle Allucard from Code MENT (I actually made her exactly like that BEFORE I even SAW Code MENT. But that scene made me make her healing spells come from bullets.)
Currently playing an artificer and I already made a wand version of the assassin's Creed hidden blade, a wrist mounted crossbow, and made bags of holding for half the party. All that's left is the magical nuke and my artificer will be complete.
IIRC, using infusion, you can only make 1 single bag of holding at a time. Like, ever. If you make a 2nd, the 1st goes poof. Unless you're actually enchanting items, of which I'm not familiar with, mechanically speaking.
Probably the most unique artificier you'll ever see: I'm playing an elf with plant themed cannons (pea shooters, fire flower, and sunflower, Plants vs zombies inspired). I use a watering can to grow my turrets and a hand plow (Dagger) to attack with. I mix in fertilizer bombs (arcane firearm) for an explosive bonus. Being a farmer I know how to fix things that have broke around the farmand I'm currently adventuring for rumspringa.
I've only played one artificer so far, and she was a seamstress with her technology revolving around tailoring utensils and magic fabric. I turned all my spells and equipment into something tailoring related, such as thorn whip being a meter and magic missiles being magic pins. nothing exploded, thankfully😅
I love this one! I played an alchemist artificer a while back, and he was basically the definition of an ethic-less mad scientist. Literally only got along with the party because it suited his ends. Guy even turned himself into an aberrant horror through an arcane lab accident!
it reminds me of my current campaign. Basically, one of my player playing as Dwarf Artificier and has this familiar/automaton that does only one thing, Shocking Grasp. and we collectively call it: "Mechanic Pikachu" ...oh, and also apparently he dabble in alchemist which at one point, made a potion that turned a minotaur into a minotaur with fish properties.
yeah one of the potion options is "Transformation. The drinker's body is transformed as if by the alter self spell. The drinker determines the transformation caused by the spell, the effects of which last for 10 minutes." Alter Self of course allowing for aquatic adaptation.
Frankly, I don't get it. Artificer doesn't really have any ability or feature that can backfire... It's more about greedily buffing yourself until even your underwear is magical.

As someone who played an armourer artificer, I told them I would never leave my armor even when sleeping, it got to the point where the Druid had to use heat metal to get my character out to take a shower and do some infusions for an rare item we got.
This is so freaking accurate it's hilarious. Just seeing how someone could accidentally invent something is amazing, like I did with my Mjolnir type of hammer . . . Amazing what duct tape, some chains and desperation can forge.
I made a homebrew Artificer subclass that I'm actually pretty proud of. It's called the Arcanist and lets you swap out known infusions once a week, convert infused items into permanently enchanted ones (basically by giving you a discount on the enchantment rules and an expanded infusion list), and you can also have all of your +whatever items be more effective and give a +4 to one enchanted item an ally has for a short time. That last one has a side effect of causing the item to burn out after a minute if you use the action, at which point it needs 10 minutes to be able to do anything again. But it can also be used as a way to temporarily disable cursed items too, since all magical effects are stopped by the burnout.
One of my favorite things to do as an artificer is to play a guy who believes there is innate magic in everything and therefore uses enchanted sticks. He also tries to sell them to people. This really gets better at level 11
@@sethb3090 i mean yes and no. He really appreciates druids and wizards because he believes they are both right about how magic works. The main goal of the character is to prove to the world that (like in the days of the Netheril empire) everyone can have access to magic because it naturally flows through everything. And the character, whom was playfully nicknamed sticks, decided to use the lowly stick to show that magic flows through everything. (due to game mechanics i chose to go with sticks) Anyways, artificer was the best class to make, use, and sell magic while telling the world of his ideas on magic. He wanted to do great things with sticks as his conduits for magical potential to help prove this point and that is why he is an adventurer.
recent oneshot: lvl 15 party fighting a marut. sorcificer used wall of force in combination with wrope trick to give the party a short rest midfight. the right tools at the right time in the right place and a crazy mind that gives a darn about the order of the world and comes up with his own stuff.
Since I’m running Waterdeep: Dragon Heist as a steampunk type of adventure, I made one of my Trollskull Alley NPCs an artificer who helps run her “ally party’s” tailor shop, and between abusing Mending to make clothes, she’s a shipwright and she made a nimblewright to serve as a red herring for the Fireball chapter. She’s adorable when not heated (fire genasi) and at least two of my players have used her services for stylish clothing, plus she’s been commissioned to make a stealth upgrade for one of the rogues.
I do have two ideas for artificers: (1) a kobold that has always admired dragons for their ability to fly and seeks to be able to create his own wings so that he may join them in the skies and (2) a goblin that has a fascination with explosives. I may even have the goblin multi-class into rogue so he can plant explosives using stealth.
I played Armorer Artificer and basically had 21 AC. The boss I fought actually got so angry at me for imposing disadvantage every turn with my Thunder Gauntlets. With my teammate's Slasher activating, the boss had to make 12 attacks at me with disadvantage. Only 1 hit. Even then, it barely dealt any damage. Funny, I was parodying Sundowner too when that happened.
You got lucky the DM didnt know the wording on the ability "A creature hit by the gauntlet has disadvantage on attack rolls against targets other than you until the start of your next turn" Other than you ie he should have been hitting normally against you
Did the Slasher user have another ability that caused disadvantage against anyone but them? I could see that and your Thunder Gauntlets making a loop of disadvantage for attacking both of you.
@@callumdean2462 To be fair, Slasher on its own needs to score a crit to cause disadvantage. And since the Thunder Gauntlets were mentioned I am thinking both players have a "disadvantage against anyone but me" ability that were active at the same time.
When a player gets lazy, the DM needs to challenge their playing style. Iron suit? Magnets and electrical damage x2. Guns? Put them in a swamp with plenty of methane for explosions. Flame thrower? Fire resistant creatures. Bags of holding? Some sort of inter-dimensional being precipitates when they empty it next.
My Fave way to play a Warforged Artificer. *"I cast Gatling Gun."* -The rules for spellcasting is different I as the *PLAYER* get to decide what my spells do and look like. They cannot be counter spelled due to the wording of the spellcasting rules in the class. Gatling gun is Catapult + anything the DM lets me get away with.
My first character (which I’m still playing) is an Artificer in a One Piece World. I ate the Tool Tool Fruit so that my arms aren’t just for tools, they ARE the tools.
I like everyone has ridcoulous artificer stories of making , tanks , nukes and robot armies but nothing at all in the class says you can or even can be interpreted that you can do any of these things.
I feel like every time I hear that outro I should be seeing the Paladin of The Oath of Throwing it Back making a scoot across the screen waving goodbye or something haha
I love artificer, it’s my favorite class Currently I have 3 characters with level into artificer, the first is a pure armorer, the second uses a homebrew subclass that giver a mech and the third is a warlock with four levels in artificer armorer for the armor, advantage on concentration and +1 wand for his eldritch blast
The OTHER way: I have an actual degree in Fluid Dynamics; Tremble as I abuse this Decanter of Endless Water to break every trap, puzzle, and fortification you can devise.
I was DMing a campaign with some friends and we had an artificer who made his character a Jedi and would constantly through his glowing sword around (that he made)and call it back to him. He even killed a flying dragon who was the big bad when he slicing one of its wings off mid-air having is crash to the ground and dodging a last dich effort ice breath and throwing the sword impaling it in the dragons skull. Best 3 nat20s I ever seen
Man, reading all these comments about the various flavors of BOOM, and here's my artificer who managed to make a piece of tech that collected and stored arcane energy to power a potbelly stove with arms and a face called Stonewall. He also shot lazers, could punch through stone, grow LORGE, and spoke like a steam vent. And she rocked the fantasy equivalent of a .50 cal rifle in a crossbow.
“To get through me you must go through my robot army.” I actually had an artificer build a robot army. Used it in conjunction with my other character’s goblin, elf, devil, men and orc troops to conquer the known world.
Made a lvl 20 Warforged Artillery Artificer, sitting back with +18 constitution saves with advantage for concentration, +15 intelligence saves, +11 Dex saves an AC of 24, with the shield spell reaction to boost it to 29, he is a monster with his twin flamethower cannons and a spell to use the flame to make blinding fireworks haha. He is a war caster with a Shield and Sword, but the sword has a gem to allow casting as a focus... To top it off, he has catapult for when he wants a cannon to go boom, and 208 hp. He scares people.
Last Artificer I had in a one-shot essentially was just the demo man from TF2, drunkenly stumbling around and generally killing everything in sight with explosions

I have a Kobold Artillerist. Didn't have much occasions to play him and also my GM didn't like that he's neutral evil, so I made him a Lawful Neutral twin brother, who's an Armorer.
The first example was our Artificer, who built a fleet of airships, infiltrated the big bad evil organization, and trapped Vecna in a metal ball to play catch with his warforged son
I can't wait to play mine she's a toy maker from one of the tows not far from Neverwinter. She tends to her garden so she can make the big money with Heath potions, toxins, and acids.
To be honest I fully expected the last part to be "Wait I know I can do something about this, just gotta find it on my character sheet, gimme 5 more minutes..."

My DM didn't allow this class untill recently, 'cause he didn't understand it. But high elves in our world are basically a race of such guys. Their ancestors started an apocalypse before, they currently have built a manapunk civilization, are in civil war, and... It feels like it may result in another apocalypse.
Edit: it's author's setting, and it's not mine. I do know it's not according to the Forgotten Realms or the Eberron lore. I don't think it was supposed to be.

@@aqj2014 it's author's settings, but from what I know about Eberron, it's pretty close for high elves specifically (may or may not be the source of inspiration). Other parts of the world are closer to classic.

That's basically my Dragonborn as well only they went full Illuminati meets the Belka's from Ace combat and decided to use their magitek to conquer other planes. They made the Warforged along the way but the Warforged are now more advanced than they are due to time fuckery.
My artillerist has made for himself a +1 all-purpose tool, wand sheath and Soul Cage in a wand; made the druid a +2 Red Dragon Scale Mail (DC was 40), working on a Robe of Eyes and Bloodwell Vial +1 for our sorcerer. I'm also going to be making a triple bomb of Acid, Alchemist Fire and Oil for Catapult and funsies. I've also tormented the DM with multiple free uses of Vortex Warp against a T-rex and then proceeded to give the item to one of our NPCs. Now, pardon me but I think I will steal the idea of the robot army, probably by way of Shield Guardian :)
And my former artificer apprentice blew up the world leaving floating islands.
another trick that I did was making cursed items, as after all its still enchanting, just like alchemy can make potion or poison. Giving them out to people expected to be evil etc.
It may not take long for them to discard the item but you can sure send them mad first and ruin their reputation.

My most recent artificer(my favorite class btw) very much leaned on Magical Tinkering to do rather mundane things. The party saved a kid from a burning building and they were trying to take him to other family members. To calm the kid down he asked the kid what his favorite scent was, chocolate, picked up a rock and made it smell like chocolate. Kid calmed down and helped my character help him. Such a wonderful class with lots of creative opportunities

Warforged Artillerist artificer with an enhanced shield, hand crossbow with a wand of magic missles at its core as my arcane firearm, with firebolt and thornwhip as my cantrips, and shatter always prepared. And I always picked the tiny turret that was a flamethrower, and put it on the front of the gun.
I did a lot of damage every turn at level 5. 2d10+1d8 one target, plus 2d8 cone. With a cantrip.

Fun story: in a game I’m in, one of our players, who isn’t an artificer but did something I believe an artificer should be able to do, he made napalm, using his real world knowledge on how to make them, he gave my character, a Half Orc Bard Fighter 10 bolts that were dipped in the stuff, a few games later, I used one on a flaming enemy, forgetting that it would create a 10 feet cube of fire damage, one of the fellow players, a full Orc Barbarian. Was right next to the enemy, his character got knocked down, but survived, but later. The original player who made the napalm, a Triten Monk, took the bolts back and went to blow up a ship, he was caught as he was making his escape, his character was caught in a massive explosion that killed his character, but the DM gave him a chance to survive, which he did and now he has magic ghost fists... this game is still going... Fun!

Currently playing an artificer and I already made a wand version of the assassin's Creed hidden blade, a wrist mounted crossbow, and made bags of holding for half the party. All that's left is the magical nuke and my artificer will be complete.

IIRC, using infusion, you can only make 1 single bag of holding at a time. Like, ever. If you make a 2nd, the 1st goes poof. Unless you're actually enchanting items, of which I'm not familiar with, mechanically speaking.

Probably the most unique artificier you'll ever see: I'm playing an elf with plant themed cannons (pea shooters, fire flower, and sunflower, Plants vs zombies inspired). I use a watering can to grow my turrets and a hand plow (Dagger) to attack with. I mix in fertilizer bombs (arcane firearm) for an explosive bonus. Being a farmer I know how to fix things that have broke around the farmand I'm currently adventuring for rumspringa.

I've only played one artificer so far, and she was a seamstress with her technology revolving around tailoring utensils and magic fabric. I turned all my spells and equipment into something tailoring related, such as thorn whip being a meter and magic missiles being magic pins.

I love this one! I played an alchemist artificer a while back, and he was basically the definition of an ethic-less mad scientist. Literally only got along with the party because it suited his ends. Guy even turned himself into an aberrant horror through an arcane lab accident!
I’m very new to DnD but still offered to DM a homebrew when our DM is unable to run sessions. One player is an artificer and I’m now *very* afraid.

it reminds me of my current campaign. Basically, one of my player playing as Dwarf Artificier and has this familiar/automaton that does only one thing, Shocking Grasp. and we collectively call it: "Mechanic Pikachu"
...oh, and also apparently he dabble in alchemist which at one point, made a potion that turned a minotaur into a minotaur with fish properties.

Frankly, I don't get it. Artificer doesn't really have any ability or feature that can backfire... It's more about greedily buffing yourself until even your underwear is magical.

As someone who played an armourer artificer, I told them I would never leave my armor even when sleeping, it got to the point where the Druid had to use heat metal to get my character out to take a shower and do some infusions for an rare item we got.

This is so freaking accurate it's hilarious. Just seeing how someone could accidentally invent something is amazing, like I did with my Mjolnir type of hammer . . . Amazing what duct tape, some chains and desperation can forge.
I play mine as a bureaucrat who insists he's a coolguy adventurer.
I made a homebrew Artificer subclass that I'm actually pretty proud of.
It's called the Arcanist and lets you swap out known infusions once a week, convert infused items into permanently enchanted ones (basically by giving you a discount on the enchantment rules and an expanded infusion list), and you can also have all of your +whatever items be more effective and give a +4 to one enchanted item an ally has for a short time. That last one has a side effect of causing the item to burn out after a minute if you use the action, at which point it needs 10 minutes to be able to do anything again. But it can also be used as a way to temporarily disable cursed items too, since all magical effects are stopped by the burnout.
Artificer: Kaboom?
Party: Yes Artificer, Kaboom.
One of my favorite things to do as an artificer is to play a guy who believes there is innate magic in everything and therefore uses enchanted sticks. He also tries to sell them to people. This really gets better at level 11

@@sethb3090 i mean yes and no. He really appreciates druids and wizards because he believes they are both right about how magic works. The main goal of the character is to prove to the world that (like in the days of the Netheril empire) everyone can have access to magic because it naturally flows through everything. And the character, whom was playfully nicknamed sticks, decided to use the lowly stick to show that magic flows through everything. (due to game mechanics i chose to go with sticks) Anyways, artificer was the best class to make, use, and sell magic while telling the world of his ideas on magic. He wanted to do great things with sticks as his conduits for magical potential to help prove this point and that is why he is an adventurer.

First character I wanted to base my artificer on. He was a lizardfolk. It was fun
honestly the fact that Artificers can make magical items saves the party so much gold
recent oneshot: lvl 15 party fighting a marut. sorcificer used wall of force in combination with wrope trick to give the party a short rest midfight. the right tools at the right time in the right place and a crazy mind that gives a darn about the order of the world and comes up with his own stuff.
Since I’m running Waterdeep: Dragon Heist as a steampunk type of adventure, I made one of my Trollskull Alley NPCs an artificer who helps run her “ally party’s” tailor shop, and between abusing Mending to make clothes, she’s a shipwright and she made a nimblewright to serve as a red herring for the Fireball chapter. She’s adorable when not heated (fire genasi) and at least two of my players have used her services for stylish clothing, plus she’s been commissioned to make a stealth upgrade for one of the rogues.
Wizard: Don't worry I can cast fireball to thin out this army.
Artificer: No need, just let me show you what happens when you split an atom.
My artificer is a time traveling fey cowboy - she has a laser revolver, a metal dog, and my entire heart.

I do have two ideas for artificers: (1) a kobold that has always admired dragons for their ability to fly and seeks to be able to create his own wings so that he may join them in the skies and (2) a goblin that has a fascination with explosives. I may even have the goblin multi-class into rogue so he can plant explosives using stealth.
I played Armorer Artificer and basically had 21 AC. The boss I fought actually got so angry at me for imposing disadvantage every turn with my Thunder Gauntlets. With my teammate's Slasher activating, the boss had to make 12 attacks at me with disadvantage. Only 1 hit. Even then, it barely dealt any damage.
Funny, I was parodying Sundowner too when that happened.

@@callumdean2462 To be fair, Slasher on its own needs to score a crit to cause disadvantage. And since the Thunder Gauntlets were mentioned I am thinking both players have a "disadvantage against anyone but me" ability that were active at the same time.

My party's artificer just likes shooting guns at dragons and having a monoply on fire arms and amunition. That's about all he does
When a player gets lazy, the DM needs to challenge their playing style.
Iron suit? Magnets and electrical damage x2.
Guns? Put them in a swamp with plenty of methane for explosions.
Flame thrower? Fire resistant creatures.
Bags of holding? Some sort of inter-dimensional being precipitates when they empty it next.

-The rules for spellcasting is different I as the *PLAYER* get to decide what my spells do and look like. They cannot be counter spelled due to the wording of the spellcasting rules in the class. Gatling gun is Catapult + anything the DM lets me get away with.
My first character (which I’m still playing) is an Artificer in a One Piece World. I ate the Tool Tool Fruit so that my arms aren’t just for tools, they ARE the tools.
I like everyone has ridcoulous artificer stories of making , tanks , nukes and robot armies but nothing at all in the class says you can or even can be interpreted that you can do any of these things.

I was DMing a campaign with some friends and we had an artificer who made his character a Jedi and would constantly through his glowing sword around (that he made)and call it back to him. He even killed a flying dragon who was the big bad when he slicing one of its wings off mid-air having is crash to the ground and dodging a last dich effort ice breath and throwing the sword impaling it in the dragons skull. Best 3 nat20s I ever seen
And when you have two artificers, you get a free magical nuke for every long rest.

The closest I’ve made to a nuke was as a Bard. It was basically a railgun made from three cannons and copper wiring.
Man, reading all these comments about the various flavors of BOOM, and here's my artificer who managed to make a piece of tech that collected and stored arcane energy to power a potbelly stove with arms and a face called Stonewall.
He also shot lazers, could punch through stone, grow LORGE, and spoke like a steam vent. And she rocked the fantasy equivalent of a .50 cal rifle in a crossbow.

I had an artificer in my game once, he made a gun. That was about it. He had some plans for a Mecha as well but we didn't get to high level.
The last bit at the end reminds me of that one incident with a demon core where the one thing that is stop it from going supernova is a screwdriver
“To get through me you must go through my robot army.” I actually had an artificer build a robot army. Used it in conjunction with my other character’s goblin, elf, devil, men and orc troops to conquer the known world.
Made a lvl 20 Warforged Artillery Artificer, sitting back with +18 constitution saves with advantage for concentration, +15 intelligence saves, +11 Dex saves an AC of 24, with the shield spell reaction to boost it to 29, he is a monster with his twin flamethower cannons and a spell to use the flame to make blinding fireworks haha. He is a war caster with a Shield and Sword, but the sword has a gem to allow casting as a focus... To top it off, he has catapult for when he wants a cannon to go boom, and 208 hp. He scares people.

I have a Kobold Artillerist. Didn't have much occasions to play him and also my GM didn't like that he's neutral evil, so I made him a Lawful Neutral twin brother, who's an Armorer.
The first example was our Artificer, who built a fleet of airships, infiltrated the big bad evil organization, and trapped Vecna in a metal ball to play catch with his warforged son
