There are two amps that I want to own. One of them is an Amp One. I've watched Thomas Blug dial in many awesome tones that are identical or super close to many other amps. If you can't get a rock tone from an Amp One, you just need some assistance from somebody, because the sound you want is in there. With 100 watts of power in such a small package, it is infinitely useful. Adding an EQ pedal or a drive pedal of your preference would definitely make your tone dreams come true with an Amp One. He does make a high gain version for those who are into metal. The second amp that I want is a 5 watt Joyo Sweet Baby combo that is a recreation of an older Fender Champ amp. Unfortunately for me, I live in a shared space and must use headphones or no amp at all to play electric guitar.
You certainly can't beat a little bit of fur around the edges. I recently bought the TC Combo Deluxe 65', great clean sounds and reverb. My Nash Strat has never sounded more Strat like.
Nice Price, nice sound - i bought the UAFX Lion last week and it also impresses me as well - i think i must test it against this little box - Thanks for the video John!!
Geez. A guitar and 2 cables plugged into a PC or laptop and a couple of reasonably priced monitors. Add this pedal and you're pretty much done. Great demo and review, John, and I would love to see a shootout between this and the BUG in a blind test. (Sneaky way of getting more Dougal footage!)
Hi. Could I just use this, an audio interface and a computer to record?.... you could get a looper into that chain ?? How would that work? guitar: looper: this effects box: and then computer? Thanks for your advice to a complete novice
@@calbrockocat8728 Yes I think I will spring for Reaper. What I am contemplating is getting a used iPad and getting looper pro (I may have the name wrong) and then a set up like this. Trying to get ways to improve my playing, have fun, and maybe see if there is anything creative in me. But just really to have fun and see if I can improve my guitar playing ability which is minimal. Been playing an acoustic only for the last 60 years (and badly I might add)
That pedal sounds great to my ears! I've got the Joyo British Sound pedal, and the "voice" control baffles me. Having a hard time getting the sound I want. This is straightforward, and seems to hit the mark right out of the gate. Speaking of which, no gate, no hiss.👍
I think Voice is to help get closer to various Marshall models. Last time I checked the Joyo is a lot cheaper. Oxford Sound is a nice cheap alternative to an Orange amp and is a bit Marshally.
Thanks, John. It's dawned on me from watching your videos that you always appear to be recording direct from your Blue Guitar Amp One, into your computer etc and not from a mic'd up amplifier. I assume that there are noise restrictions where you live? If so have you done any videos on how to be a silent musician/ teacher?
@JRobsonGuitar thankyou John. I do recall watching this video. The refresher was valuable. We are moving to what in Australia we call a townhouse. It has shared walls, and we expect minimal noise deadening between neighbours. Our boy is a musican (bass player) and teaches from our home. 😲. He also has a RUclips Channel: Jared Plane and records onto a portable Zoom recorder, then connects that to his PC. He uses Audacity and Kdenlive video editing, for his RUclips channel. With face to face lessons, we think he'll need to move to 2 sets of headphones and something to split the sound, so him and the student can hear. We're planning a visit to our local music store shortly. It'll be a pity to have to put the real amps away and lose that wall shaking experience. Kindest regards - Rod
Love the sound you are getting there , what speakers are you putting it through? Also I really hope you try it with a couple of pedals just to see how it does , when you do your final review.
It was just going into my interface & being recorded that way (which is what you heard). For monitoring, in the room, I was hearing it through my PreSonus studio monitors 👍
I’ve looked at this one and watched Guitar Max do a review of the Nu-x MG101 yesterday. Your demo produced the tones that I’m looking for ( the Marshall soundtrack of classic rock), but here in the states it sells for $149 new. The least expensive I’ve found is about $115 (used). The Nu-x is being promoted as an amp modeler, looper, drum machine, multi effects (with lots of amps including vox, plexi, etc.) and looks like they have two resembling Marshalls called “Brits”. Also Max called it a gateway to the pedal world. It also sells for $119. So in looking for the best kit to replicate 70’s guitar tones on a budget, what would you suggest is the best to go with? TIA
I have no complaints about Nux gear. It's great sounding & affordable stuff. I prefer the "dial it in & go" nature of this pedal though (as opposed to menus & option paralysis you get with many multi fx). Also, every pedal/modeller I try I always just dial it in to sound like a Marshall & leave it. This one does that for me and I'm not paying for a bunch of Vox, Fender, Boogie & Rectifier tones that I'm not going to use.
Thank you John. I want to go off track and ask you something: Have you ever done a video and ongoing argument in the difference in sound between a maple neck and rosewood guitar. Do you believe it makes a difference? Just wanted to get your expert opinion mate.
I dug out my old Ammoon American Sound (same as the Joyo) and recorded with it the other day. Forget how great it sounded. There’s a lot to be said for these amp sim pedals
Just checked the pedal out at Andertons and found out they do versions for a Fender Blackface 65 and a Vox ac30. Much more interested in those but I'll, have to try to find a review on another channel. Can't imagine you'd ever try them out 😂😂😂
Just bite the bullet and pay 100 more for a tonex 1, i have the bigger version and have to say the jtms are kickass as are every other patch i have downloaded and installed. Oh by the way im older than you and its a simple product to operate :)
I hear what you say, but I've had "issues" with IK Multimedia in the past which left a sour taste. Even if that weren't the case though, I'd be paying the extra money for sounds I wouldn't be using. On any modeler/profiler/multi fx, all I EVER do is dial it in to sound like a Marshall, tape it all down & ignore all the orders things it does. This pedal does all I need & nothing I don't 👍

5:05 “More Thrangy” and “Less Thrangy” should 💯 be official stomp box settings! We need a John Robson signature pedal! 💪😎👍
I'm impressed John, with the tone, the noise levels, and especially the touch sensitivity - oh, and the price 😀

Thats a tasty little box, sounds great, would like to hear it into the effects loop return of an amp. great review.

Wow, that actually sounds bloody great
In my opinion I prefer the Marshall to the Blug.

Forgot 1 important thing. John uses a DAW called Reaper. I use a free DAW called Audacity.

Interesting piece of kit.
I was looking at this pedal last month and got it out of My system. Now I got a new case of G.A.S. again, Thanks John 😀
You're welcome 😀👍
That's a great sounding pedal, excellent first thoughts review 😄

Want a pedal for a Marshall Plexi sound - Electroharmonix Glove OD. £64 and it won the Andertons blind test
That's a tasty little box!
Is this a full amp like the orange terror stamp?
No, it's just a preamp
