I am on the verge of stopping playing, been doing it now for about fifteen years and just cannot get anywhere with it. I have plastic pipes and they are just as good as African Blackwood but don't have the consistent tone you would get from a set of AB pipes. I am struggling with my embelishments especially my birl, although that is getting better. I can say that I am fairly confident in playing Mist Covered Mountains on the practice chanter but where I am staying, I can't get out and play it on the pipes. I want to wish Jori and everyone else the best in the world and happy piping. Hopefully things will change and this 67 year old piper can play just as well as the very best pipers.
That's funny! I know that the various colors of some watches have nicknames. Pepsi, Batman, Starbucks, Kermit, etc... www.bobswatches.com/rolex-blog/rolex-info/guide-rolex-watch-nicknames.html

I recall a chap refering to pipes with black (poly ??) projecting mounts as ''Vaders'' ... as in Darth Vader of Star Wars fame.
