A few years after your video and it still helped me ... Thanks a lot
I'm right there with you. Using an old PXL2240 as a secondary for looking at stream chat and etc while using my new 144hz monitor for gaming.
He is useless
They won't let me out until I review every piece of computer hardware ever made!!
These are the videos that I love that Linus does. There is so much fail in them but he keeps right on going and don't cut it out. I like when video's are real.
LOL 7 years later and the channel became basically the opposite
Fantastic video, dude - almost 8 years later and this was still relevant!
Will do another video about this.
........waiting...
Still waiting...
Omg that audio though 😂
To be fair, Linus said he recorded a whole bunch of videos in this "new" format, before the negative comments started pouring in... and some are still waiting to be uploaded, even though he recognized and acknowledged the criticism the first few videos got.
First ever video I watched of Linus tech tips thanks for helping me back in 2014
I just want to reach through the internet and hug you Linus! Thanks so much, it worked seemlessly!
If you are on XP, I suggest going straight to 8. It's easy to learn is more efficient than 7. If you haven't used 7 and aren't used to it, the transition to wither 7 or 8 will be equal effort, so you might as well go for the better OS. Keep in mind most people who complain about 8 are just upset that they have to learn a new GUI.
Still helpful. I'm running three 24's, two of which are touch. This video saved the monitors from destruction. Thank you.
Excellent. Did the trick a year after you posted it, with Windows 8.1
This worked! I knew I wouldn't be the only person with this issue.
I added a touchscreen 22" screen as a secondary display to my 40" Phillips 4K monitor. But all touches were being registered on my 4K (primary display) Turns out there is a setting in control Panel, under Tablet PC Settings to adjust where touches are being registered.
I really liked the way you integrated the secondary camera, worked quite well! It'd be far nicer if you could make the audio input be them same all the way through though, as my ears wanted to bleed when you went to your secondary camera.
Also, it would be nice to see the secondary camera just a tiny bit more zoomed OUT.
Thanks for the tip Linus!
I had same issue with Dell S2240T and it's resolved with your tip. Thank you very much.
Hi!
This helped me SO much with my old computer (thank you!!) but my new computer now runs on Windows 10. Any advice on what to do?
Much appreciated!
Thanks Linus, going to be using a small touch panel to house the FSL Print Driver application for my laser cutter. Ran into this issue and you helped fix it, close to a decade later.
Thank you from 5 years in the future! Just got an Elo touch monitor while dumpster diving and this solved my issue.
Yep. I screwed up the capture software settings.
Woohoo, thank you! Excellent video demo! It seems that you have confirmed I can buy the "Acer T232HL Abmjjz 23-Inch" monitor for my dream setup of:
"Surface Pro + Non Touch Screen 23.6" + Touch Screen 23"
Holy balls! Thinking about getting a touch monitor and this shows up from 6 years ago! You and your whole team have a video on just about everything huh? Thanks Linus!
same thing happened to me just now
Gosh the budget video from what I'm used to lol good job getting much better over the years.
I am extremely overjoyed that you decided to share this quick fix .... I know it would have taken me hours to fix it, if at all. Thank you very much!
i watch a lot of your video, big fan of ur channel.
i was trying to find a way to connect my old touch laptop as a second monitor for my current gaming laptop without using the projection function in windows to aviod delays.
and this came up! you look so young. cant imagine the work you put in to improve throughout the years! really happy for you!
Worked perfect for my ELo touchscreen monitor! You are a lifesaver! and im commenting in 2016 XD
Mate, you're my hero! Gave up on this problem long ago, gave it another try with Windows 8 but couldn't figure it out, thanks to you it's working perfectly!
Still odd though that Windows isn't smart enough to know which screen is a touch-panel or not and configure accordingly.
Glad to see someone enjoying Windows 8 instead of shunning it like a mac user.
Grats Linus!
as a guess. looking at the pipes etc, and the removable bottom section, and by linus saying he has one about a year ago, i think it is a hoover/vacuum cleaner with ducting going to every room.
I like that "newsanchor caught in the headlights" look in the end there :)
Dude cant thank you enough !! I have a quad monitor setup 4 recording with 2 touchscreen monitors that I wanted to use simultaneously one is in my recording booth (another room)worked at first and then what u said touch one popped up somewhere else ???? and touch was nonexistent on one screen anyway your method fixed it !!!!!!!!!! subscribing now bro !!
Its also a lot more stable on my hardware, with windows 7 installed every time i rebooted i had a problem (hard to explain what the actual problem was) the only was i could stop it from happening was to put the PC into hibernate. Installed windows 8 yesterday, already rebooted it about 5 times and powered it on and off multiple times without the problem happening! i love it :D
I laughed so hard at the way you ended this video. Oh, and you helped me out! Thank you, LTT.
I agree. Keep one audio track going for the length of the video.
in 2021 on windows 10 this still works thank you linus
I narrowed it down by looking at some websites to be my motherboard, might of been drivers but I only had that problem on windows 7. Windows Xp, Vista and 8 all worked fine. I just glad that i don't have to remove my BIOS battery every time I want to boot into windows anymore :P
The two displays set up like that would be really good if you had a friend over, so while you gamed he could play on the other monitor at the same time, and vice versa. :)
Beside the fact that it was a terribly edited, AUDIO BLAST video, it solved my problem, so thanks, Linus! :D
Wow, 8 years ago he was able to just make a video about a Twitter follower's question
How to make two touch screens work without mimicking the touch on the secondary screen onto the first.
Step 1: Duplicate the screens
Step 2: Go into "Tablet PC Settings"
Step 3: Go into "Setup"
Step 4: It gets a bit weird here, only your main display will show the white screen with text. Don't panic.
Step 4.1: Touch your main touch screen
Step 4.2: Touch your secondary screen
Step 5: Press OK
Step 6: Go back to "extended screen"
I realised that a lot of people, including myself this morning, had this issue. Hence posting it out here.
+Preet Tyagi - I have 2 ACER T232HL monitors and can only get one monitor to function as a touch screen without duplicating the touch form one monitor to the other. Do you know how to fix this?
Linus, thinking of replacing my 4 screens (non-touch screen - dual VisionTek Radeon HD4850) - base on your video, it seems that I need to make I tell Windows 8 which one is the touch screen(s). I may have two touch screens come time to replace my aging Asus P5Q-E (775 socket) motherboard and graphics cards. This video may be saving me a whole load of headache because I would not normally look into "Tablet Settings" as I am on a desktop. Good video!
It would be great if you could normalize the audio in situations like in this video... for 200k+ subscribers, I'd say it's a worthwhile extra step.
I am being fair I like these videos because they are more real and they feel real because Linus is being real.
Just installed my Asus Xonar DG Soundcard to use with my AKG 272 HD's and I couldn't be happier with it. Thank you so much linus. Also you are doing an amazing job, keep it up. :)
love that too but still a bit buggy with AMD drivers so i normally hide it and use Cairo dock , try that out really cool
you surely have come a long way Linus.
That's my main gripe with linus' video. the audio quality sometimes you thought it's too low so you'll turn the volume up then suddenly boom almost pops my eardrums.
i like the dual camera set up, but you should only play the sound from 1 video so i don't have to re-adjust volume every 10 seconds. not complaining but yeah i like the dual video recording
Linus, i love your channel, but seriously, your next purchase should be a microphone, just a button sized wireless mic. Keep up your work:-)
and the fact that you recorded it in the room where the central vac is made me laugh!
Attempted this, but when the white screen with the message 'tap this screen with your tablet pen' came up I couldn't because it was still clicking onto the other monitor instead of the touch screen.
did it work for you now?
why are you using the start button in the taskbar if you have a touchscreen that can be used to swipe the charm bar, which has a bigger button for start
Hi Linus, I have an MSI 17" Apache Pro gaming laptop which runs on Windows 8 but is not touch capable. Is it possible to attach an external touch screen monitor, like an Acer T232HL? How? Please help!
Great Video Linus. Quick fix.
my opinion: 7>xp>8>vista (could add more but i don't really think that much people use anything older.)
Does NOT work on my workstation with Win 7 (one week away from installing Win 10).
What happens? By Enter switching to my touch screen monitor (I have a total of Three monitors HP Z 640 / AMD Firepro W7100) and touching my touch screen the Main monitor still picks up the input!???
To be honest: it's because of the new generations. They are the ones who find it easier to be able to touch everything instead of having to move some mouse. Many of the older people i know actually think the keyboard and mouse is still a bit more usefull, but for other things (like photoshop and point n click games) the touch screen is a bit more intuitive.
I could see windows 8 being used fairly nicely with Music/Video Productions
Linus, I have a tablet (Acer Iconia W500), and this is a good tip!
Say, did you upgrade all your home computers with Windows 8??!!
Linus, a quick tip for yourself. The secondary camera that was set on the screen had fairly horrendous audio. So you might want to fix that.
Hey Linus! Couldn't you make a Review/overview of Windows 8 and give us your thoughts about it? :)
Thank you LINUS!!! I have two 27" ACER T272HL and this fixed my issue! Thank you again for the support!
Are you running two touch screen monitors and does it work? As I'm looking into getting triple touch monitors
Yes, it works amazingly well. I was considering the ACER TA272HUL but I'm going to wait until prices come down first. Also, 1080p is more stable to me.
Aaron Hall hi, I'm considering buying two Acer T272HL monitors to use in my music software. Can I have two multi touch monitors side by side and use the touch facility on both screens? I want to use the mixer on one screen and have the music display on the other
Yes, it will work flawlessly! I have one HP 24" with the two Acer's T272HL for FL Studio 12
Aaron Hall cool, does Fruity loops support touch screen? I've got PreSonus Studio One v3 and it has native touch screen support. I intend to use one screen for the mixer and the other touch screen for the arrangement view. I want to be able to use the multi touch on both screens.
Can you please remake of this video? So it works with Windows 10 and with update hardware
15 million subscribers congratulations
Thank you for the useful information. That is a question I have had since windows 8 had made an appearance.
linus solving my problems 10 years later lmao
The main question still remains. What will happen if my friend uses the touch screen to operate a music player while I'm in the middle of an intense Quake match on the non-touch screen. Would operating the music player be safe or would it somehow affect the game?
Thankyou so much dude, I was having endless issues with fixing my touchscreen input.
This also works on windows 7, and in my case. the touches I sent to my table laptop screen were clicking on my external display.
Really appreciate the vid.
PS, Fix your mic.
You didnt fully answer the question though Linus, I mean..you did...but I might have missed it to some degree, Can you run a game on your acer and still browse on your benQ with out causing conflicts with the game ofc, it does seem a little improbable but everything continues to evolve for the better.
What happens when you have a full screen game open on a non-touch screen monitor, and try to use your secondary monitor as a touch screen? Does it bring you out of full mode?
sweet answered one of my main questions about windows 8. Thanks Linus!
thnku very much I was looking for this. for 2 weeks I was using the touch as my main display. and switched it when I played games!!! :D this fixed it now
Thank you. This worked on Win10 as well
You did not answer the original question. can you play games on the non-touch screen whilst using the touch screen to do other things at the same time?
You will get it soon linus, practices makes better!
you still didnt answer if you could play games at the same time, it seems like it would not work because the focus would switch to the browser away from the game
This might be of use to me. I use a 32 inch HD tv for my display and adding a larger seconded monitor could be useful with a touchscreen
OMG! You're a life saver. I so needed to have a solution. Nothing like having a deadline for a project in 3dsmax and having trouble with the middle mouse if it's on a secondary screen (camera goes to no man's land). I needed my Cintiq as primary. Ty ty ty :D
I'm using a 50" monitor as my main and a 50" touchscreen as a digital mixer....so your saying go into control and tablet and its fixed....cant wait to get home to try it
Ah yes, the era where Linus actually combs his hair.
What if you have 2 touch screen on the same pc
To get the old setting back you have to get a registered touch on the non-touchscreen. Please tell me why in the world you would wanna do that?
Love the CADPAT Gen 3 Jacket linus :)
Linus, is it worth upgrading from Win 7 to Win 8 if you dont have a touchscreen monitor?
Was searching for similar option... using a touchscreen raspberry display for external display.. but I can't find the settings in windows 10...
Thanks a lot man saved me a lot of trouble.
Would be nice if u find a way how that work in Win10? ;-(
no, you didn't show me how to ADD a second TOUCH SCREEN monitor to my setup. As in ... I have one touch screen, and I want to add a second touch screen -- To not only increase the field of view, but so I can send input through the second monitor as well...
You should really get that better mic you're talking about a lot. This switching cameras switchs sound input too, so we can hear you really loud and with LOW quality on the seconfd cam.
Can I add a second non-touch monitor to an all-in-one setup (HP Pavilion 23 p110) that has a touchscreen as the primary? There's no input for another monitor, just USB slots.
This is awesome. I want to extend a touch screen monitor to the yard to operate digital jukebox software.
Love that face at the end like "umm... now what?..."
With all those videos in different locations in the house you can do a house tour.
Does this work with a laptop that isn't touchscreen as well? Trying to get a touchscreen display to hook up to my non-touch laptop and use touch on the extra monitor while using both.
If you were to buy a quality monitor today which touchscreen would you buy that would work on any version of Windows? It seems that many of them only work on Windows 8 or 10, but not both.
Ultrabooks can run windows as well. there's tons of ultrabooks out there and the air is far from the best. Again, it works pretty well and all, but that's NOT worth the price difference.
Another thing I don't see the point of is bootcamp. Why install windows on a macbook? You could've done the same stuff you do on OSX in windows on better and cheaper hardware. Yes, the same stuff. Most "OSX-only" applications have a windows clone, which is at least as good.
Hi Linux I have same problem my second monitor is touch screen. I follow your procedure but when I open the tablet pc settings the Setup button was disabled i can't click it. I'm using Windows 10 pro on my laptop. I hope you can help me on this. Thank you so much
not even close buddy, ski >> snowboard. The >> means much greater than, so much so, that snowboarding is insignificant compared skiing.
Wow! This is EXACTLY what I've been looking to do! Thanks for the video
I have dual monitors now and am thinking of a new desktop with one touch screen monitor. Will I need a different dual video card in my desktop? If so what is suggested
Another relevant question: Is that computer on the left set up with 8 hdd's?
