    The original & cover of No Quarter are both totally different yet... both are epic versions of the songs vibe in my humble. opinion.
    For this reason, it's essential to listen to the original then cover.
    Would of been RUclips first if you did the same with You Lied.
    The first time I heard You lied, it was 00' new year's morning after 2am...it was dark at the party except for the equaliser lights on our stereo. We were drunk, stoned..was so fkn harrowing & till this day it sends shivers from my internals to every tip of what I own.
    Love the song, love both your guy's reactions. See you next week ✌

    One idea if you want to record your reaction to Led Zeppelin's version without having it instantly blocked:
    Record your reaction video but mute the audio during the song. Just give us a cue when you start the song, and we can play on our own device and sync up with you.
    I've seen other channels do this and it works great.

    I think both Peach's and Tool's versions of You Lied are excellent, but I am still impressed by the technical excellence of Tool's version. One of the most impressive things about Tool is the quality of its members technical and artistic skills ... that they carry so well into live performances. The video of Danny Carey's in concert performance of Pneuma is really amazing. And, Tool carries this sort of excellence, their perfectionism, into everything, live or studio. The fact that they seem to do this without the destructive egocentrism so often seen in bands with so much well-distributed talent is striking as well. We are 28 years past the release of Opiate and, with the exception of the change in bassists, they are still talking to each other, playing together and working on new material ... however slowly their perfectionism makes that work.
    As for the comment about You Lied possibly being a "bridge" between two pieces on Salival (between Message to Harry Manback II and Merkaba), those are such different pieces, with You Lied so long, that don't see it. Message to Harry Manback II isn't really musical (despite the subtle background) and Merkaba is highly experimental. I like Merkaba, despite its strangeness and the fact that I don't see how it ties in with Hebrew mysticism. (Merkaba is a translation of the Hebrew מרכבה, which means 'chariot', as does Merkava, the common transliteration of the name of Israel's main battle tank.)

    Third eye from salival should've been next. I was really looking forward to that one. Hopefully you will. No one gives it a chance when it's way better than studio version. No one ever does the song Maynards Dick either. From SALIVAL, it's a hidden song that starts 25 seconds after the last track ends, you can find the audio to just that, a anyways. Fingers cross that you guys get to those.

  • @stormywaters1565
    @stormywaters1565 3 года назад +3

    Going with Salival was the right choice. Underappreciated album. The song You Lied actually features the guitarist/vocalist from the band Melvins, Buzz Osborne a.k.a. King Buzzo. You Lied is definitely one of my all time favorite Tool performances. It is just so mesmerizing and really sucks you in. Plus I love me some King Buzzo (really hoping your guys take a detour and check out the song Divorced by Melvins & Tool together before Lateralus but at this point I think I am only one asking for it so I get it if you don't lol).
    To me this song is about love, loss, pain, and growth. It sorta reminds me of a Nine Inch Nails song, Somewhat Damaged, that has the lyrics "Everything that swore it wouldn't change, is different now". Both songs touch on this idea of being secure in the truths of the world around you only to have them disillusioned and your world crumble to bits.
    Also, LAMC is Los Angeles Municipal Court. It is essentially the automate recording you get when you call the LAMC. The only part of the track that is a song is Maynard's Dick and that one is great.
