Great to see some explanation as to why zoom is dominant. I didn't understand the popularity over teams for example, even though I don't know anything about programming it is good to know that there is a reason. On the other hand, I assume a lot of people are in the same situation as I am, where they don't really know the difference in technology... so is zoom popular because there were a few that knew and started a network effect very quickly? I have online classes in 3 separate services, so cloud/no cloud doesn't seem to be a problem for most users.
The smart managers are not going to forget the widespread adoption of the Zoom method for holding FYI meetings. The really smart managers are going to tell employees, 'Hey, instead of coming in at 8:30, if we agree to a 15 minute Zoom meeting at 7:15 am you can come in at 9." Then at no charge an entire team will be thinking, uninterruptedly (at least for the drive in) about work for an extra hour a day. And worker tardiness will vanish.

I just have a one simple question: How did they get concent from all those people to show their footages?
Meanwhile skype be like "let's give users a massive update removing likeable features"
Everyone searched "good app for video calling" and Zoom came up
"Companies are going to see firsthand the limitations of using (Microsoft) Teams for video conferencing, of using WebEx..."
should be
"Companies have seen firsthand how Microsoft Teams is a steaming pile of garbage"
How are they making a profit? If most use the free version? The amount of use must have scaled up their usage of AWS and AZURE and those can become vert expensive.
Question coming from a student.
I will never use zoom again if the world goes back to how it was
Discord is way better than Zoom. Its so bizarre and stupid that we need to use another chitchat platform that literally no one ever heard of until now.
doctor: “you have 13 minutes and 6 seconds left to live”
me:
Why though

Year of the Introverts.
🤣🤣🤣Not quite we need people more than ever now for support
TBH it is bound to show some drop as people resume their work , school and collages but the thing is
They most likely made the money from their free users by the gains in their stock prices
And really as more and more people like it the app suddenly becomes the go to place when you have to do distace meetings because even after this pandemic ends there could still be reasons to use this app and really if you reallise that most of your meeting lasts longer than 40mins you might want to buy the premium version so that you no longer face any disruption
Well zoom now requires the host to approve the participant to join in the meeting. So I think it would already address the zoom bomb issue.
Who here used Zoom and Discord LONG BEFORE Covid? :D
"Zoom is malware." The Guardian.
Lucia Fiero zoom has security issues so be careful.
@paula which alternatives do you recommend ?
Nor Dic lol there are a whole range from Skype, Webex, Hangouts, Teams or even WhatsApp video. Zoom doesn’t even have end to end encryption and to top it off even has a 40 min limit on group meetings. Smh
@@montcliffeekuban1335 sure, I have used, or use ongoing most of those for work. Corporates use mostly MS Teams and Cisco Jabber - we do.
However, Zoom works just fine, and is universal and is why most schools are using Zoom now. Yes, Houseparty also works on iOs and Android, but not very well on Android. Likewise, Google apps, like Duo probably wont work on iOs.
I have been on several club meetings in the last 3 week using Zoom, with 40 fairly non tech savvy participants using a mix of Apple and Android phones and tablet, Macbooks and Laptops. All works just fine. Zoom can also be viewed in a browser without installing an app - very flexible.
We are having classes on zoom platform.. it real good for sure😍
I like Zoom, but Google and/or Microsoft will overtake it in the next 5 years.
the hole business model of zoomfrom investor point of view is to be bought by amazon or microsoft and be incorporated into their services. For google it makes less sense to buy it since zoom is build on aws and azure.
@@jonasklar if that was the point Amazon would have bought it already while it's small and relatively cheap. You realize aws is a service that companies like Netflix use. Just because someone uses it doesn't mean they are owned by Amazon.
The end of Corporation is coming to an end. If you don't know that's your fault. MARK MY WORDS.
@@ab3040 I think it would make sense for a company like Microsoft to do it considering they already own a server like Skype and instead of being completely overtaken by zoom on that front they may buy zoom and absorb it into the Skype. It's not completely unreasonable.
@@AndresHernandez-yv4bo you watched the video right? The reason most people prefer Zoom to Skype is that it's much more modern and the code wasn't written over a decade ago. Microsoft needs a complete overhaul. Google is good at getting rid of old programs in favor of new ones (duo/hangouts) so id put them a little farther in front in that race.
I just don't understand - Zoom vs Teams - isn't it all the same thing?
Teams is like Slack. Zoom is basically Skype
@@chiquita683 And there is Webex
@12:53
How did Slack come into this. The platform is laggy and I don’t see most business giving their current systems up for Slack.
Zoom and Slack aren’t even in the same position in the consumer brain.
hannah60000 I have to use Slack for my college classes and used it before using Zoom. I also know many other classes that use the service.
Zoom Puts
It’s overvalued and will drop once coronavirus is mostly over
And once it drops its time to buy it

Nor Dic so u wanna support ccp ? Where u lost rights?
Zoom is going to be the next Unfriend horror movie
My company just warned its employees in using Zoom due to security issues. We would never use it for official purposes.
I screen capture all my online live streamed lectures.
So does China, the owners of Zoom.
CNBC - can you confirm a story about Zoom having server in China with encryption access. There are media publications indicating people with this understanding are moving away due to privacy concerns.
"While Zoom is headquartered in the United States, and listed on the NASDAQ, the mainline Zoom app appears to be developed by three companies in China, which all have the name 软视软件 (“Ruanshi Software”)."
Source : citizenlab.ca/2020/04/move-fast-roll-your-own-crypto-a-quick-look-at-the-confidentiality-of-zoom-meetings/
Zoom documentation claims that the app uses AES-256 encryption for meetings where possible. However, we find that in each Zoom meeting, a single AES-128 key which we verified are sufficient to decrypt Zoom packets intercepted in Internet traffic, appear to be generated by server.
The AES-128 keys, which we verified are sufficient to decrypt, appear to be generated by Zoom servers , and in some cases, are delivered to participants in a Zoom meeting through servers in China, even when all meeting participants are outside of China.
Bruuuh
The only reason it's this high is because the millions of schools using it. Yes some universities used it some times but now it's all schools not just universities using it all the time
This is just the beginning. There ain’t no going back
Correct. Once employers can prove that your job can be done cheaper off shore, it will be.
Boomer: Zoom
Zoomer: Discord
I'm addicted to discord
Zoom will be the next bigtech
How does this compare to Microsoft Teams? How does it differ.
Sli still love how this channel loves of using totally different metric to compare something
Uhhh...Zoom has colleges moving all classes online to thank for all those downloads
I feel like marrying this app. This techno idolatry is insane.
Buy longer term puts?
Yes
In india most of schools and colleges are using zoom for online classes
and how Zoom send your data to Facebook
BILL DID IT
So you're saying Zoom spread just as fast as the coronavirus? Haha!
not only Zoom but also, Microsoft Teams, Google Meeting :)))

I hate zoom have to get up at 9 am for a 15 minute meeting.
Avaya Spaces best solution out there
Security threat. Uninstall ASAP
Still not understand how it's able to increased use inspite of so many competitors
Can't you understand basic English? They already said that it's far more easy to use than other competitors, especially my old teachers understood how to use this software.
What happened to Line? Last year everyone was on that.
The thing is all these applications collect your data.
If they don't sell it for targeted advertising or the like, why collect it?
Also none seem to be secure so it gets "stolen" and sold anyway.
The next video of CNBC will be :
The rise and fall of zoom
Why zoom of all websites?
Guys! Has anyone thought of Inhalers used for asthma patients as early stage of Covid19. Iam asthmatic & if I dont use my inhaler I am out of breath & I'll die. I use Brown inhaler as regular medication, Blue one for emergency but there is a Red one for serious Asthma sufferer. Can you please share whilst we suffer from shortages of ventilators! Thank you
