I used to run Classic .70mm picks and never changed from that. I recently got a new guitar, and decided to try these out. I think I'll never change. It's so much easier to shred with.
Prodigy is a pick I have not tried yet. I have tried lots. Recently received a pick from Zenfire. This pick is the Bomb! Crystal clear tone and punchy, and it has a great non slip grip. Recommended.
Have all of em, for electric guitarist perspective its easier to do pinch harmonic and consistent 16 note riff. Of course i had to lighten my touch with this tho.
I love these picks. Probably the best picks for bass I've ever used. The mini is great for doing jazz solo stuff, and the "shield" is super comfortable in the hand, perfect for more traditional bass work. I haven't tried the Flow yet though.
I also like the Dunlop sharp but the tip is too slippery and the material too dark sounding. The prodigy pick has a sharper point which causes some drag giving me a reference point for when I hit the string and it sounds pretty brutal. Crisp, full and loud. I wouldn't say it's just crisp. It's pretty full sounding especially when I tremolo pick on the wound strings. And the material sticks to my fingers. They're good picks. I also have the red bear lil and big Jazzer Plus due to the sharp tip. And even though the tip is sharp they kinda slip over the strings a little and they sound less aggressive and warmer than the prodigy pick. I go back and forth between the red bear and prodigy pick. I wish there was a sharpy pick made out of black Ultex with the grip of Hatfield's fang picks and the same size and shape as the red bear lil jazzer plus. I guess I have to become a famous guitarist to get my own signature pick lol
Tried the small 1.5 and 2.0. They're a bit scratchy on the point, but you can get a nice clean attack with the upper corner (which they've also also kindly beveled).
There are actually SIX different shapes! I bought a couple in a guitar shop in Italy and have had trouble locating them in the UK - especially as I don't know whether mine are Shield or Large Shield!
Video got cut off, Tony...Seems like a great pick. EB, Gibson & Fender picks are the best, a big tie with me. I'd like to try the white standard. Looks like the rounded edges would give it a warmer tone, acoustic or electric...
I still like the flow picks in fact I like that material a bit more than the delrin. Both are quite nice, but if I had to choose I would go with the flow (pun intended) :-)
Want 'warm' tone? Try the primetone jazz picks from Dunlop! I love the 2mm sharp tip. Absolutely NO string chirp WHATSOEVER. I don't know what they're made of, but they're GREAT if all you want is the string tone. That said, SOME players don't like NOT having the brightness at their disposal. The picks change the tone significantly, because they erase all the 'pick sound' from the equation.
Are the Prodigy picks as pointy as shown in the pictures? read a review where someone said they weren't, but maybe they ordered the wrong ones? I really wanna try them and am hoping they're very sharp
YES my faveourite is also a dunlop ultex sharp, also these picks now come in at least 6 shapes, a tear drop and 2 large triangle with varying pointinesses and on very very long and very sharp shape
The Prodigy Teardrops are still quite sharp and are only 27mm long. Dan's Guitar Store Precision picks are also very sharp and come in 26.5mm 29.5, and 30+mm lenghts
I know that your channel name is acoustic tuesday, therefore you must be talking about these to pick acoustic guitars obviously, right? Or are you speaking in context of electric guitar?
@@tacguitar I just bought the Prodigy 2mm and you're right. The shape is ever so slightly different when you put them right on top of each other, but I'd say total one-side surface are is the same as the Jazz III.
@@AyranSol I've tried the white 2mm and black 1.5mm, in both sharp and standard. After a few weeks of picking exercises, I decided on black 1.5mm standards.
@@shakebabyhitler somebody said sharp ones are getting stuck on the strings. But i liked sharp ones more. I like to try something strange. So i wanted to ask sharps are bad or underrated.
@@shakebabyhitler sorry this question is actually because everyone chooses the standard one. So i wanted to know if is there any problem with sharp ones.
just got a 2mm and im just SO fkn happy, all i had was a shitty fender .8mm thats flops and i lost it like 4 times, and and had to cut it to shaaaape.......fuckin hell.
I'm using the Jazz III for many years. Do not go near this mini prodigy, it feels like a foreign object in your hand! On top of it those Assholes charge $10 per 6, this is beyond ridiculous!!! If they will charge 10 cents per pick they will probably make 9 cents profit, As far as I'm concerned they can shove those picks you know where! Or maybe eat them.
I also loved the Jazz III... Used them for years but always noticed that my clammy hands would cause the pick to slip. So I'd drill a 1/4" Hole into each pick. Then I discovered the DAVA Jazz Grip. That's my current favorite.
Spot on review.I tried the picks and they are amazing.

Are you now a thick pick player? lol Often times, once an experienced player plays with a thick pick for the first time, they're sold! I know I was!

the mini is absolutely amazing for precision picking

John, Thanks for sharing your experience with the picks :-) I'll have to try the upper corner now :-)

Question: I enjoy a 1.5mm (basically a bass) pick. Does that make me a noob?
Dwight Schrute no
Short: No
I use Jim Root Dunlop picks and big stubby 3.0mm I prefer thicker picks.
Which is harder white or blackM
I like the dunlop sharp picks but they are too big for me. Is there a similar pick in the size of a jazz III?
The Prodigy Teardrops are still quite sharp and are only 27mm long. Dan's Guitar Store Precision picks are also very sharp and come in 26.5mm 29.5, and 30+mm lenghts
Does anybody have the problem, that the pick constantly gets stuck on the strings and is lmost unplayable?
Me personally this is my favorite pick of all timw
I love the Prodigy picks when they're new but I find that they get worn down quickly

Seems to be close.
Smaller than a Jazz III

Meshuggah riffage picks
I didn't like them. To pointy. I really like the Dunlop Tortex Flow 1.35 mm
Infamous strings, huh?
Anyone else thinks he looks like Walden from Two & A Half Men?
good for pick slides? haha
They are not really sharp. Dunlop sharp tortex is sharper.
