- In this project we will be “interfacing HX711 Load cell amplifier with Arduino” and 16*2 LCD for designing Arduino Weighing Machine using Load Cell HX711. This is a simple “Arduino Weight Measurement project”. The circuit is 100% calibrated.
The electronic weighing machine uses a load cell to measure the weight produced by the load, here most load cells are following the method of a strain gauge, Which converts the pressure (force) into an electrical signal, these load cells have four strain gauges that are hooked up in a Wheatstone bridge formation.

Are these A0 and A1 analog pins where you did connect DT and SCK ? But on code you mentioned digital write >>>> pinMode(DT, INPUT);
while(digitalRead(DT)); Kindly clear confusion, that pins must be digital or analog for DT and SCK..Thanks dear.

On the circuit diagram, it appears to have just one single connection to terminal no 9 on the Arduino Uno PCB. Does it need to switch number 9 terminal to earth ( or zero volts) when switch is pressed to reset the system back to zero? Thanks and best regards.
Yes it needs to be connected to GND terminal. This will reset everything to zero.

I just wanted to ask is it possible to measure the output voltage of the sensor at the the output of the HX711 between DT and SCK ? It's the same voltage but amplified right ? Like if I have an output voltage of teh sensor of 0.0004V and with a gain of 128 we will have and output at the end of HX711 of 0.005V.

Basilly load cell along with hx711 is a transducer that converts the weight into electrical voltage.
The 4 arm inside load cell produces voltage as in wheatstone bridge.
And the voltage can be measured. Simply use multimeter to measure voltage.
If the voltage is very low you need amplifier. That is the reason why hx711 is usef. Instead of hx711 you can use op amp ic to amplify volatage and measured desired output

U can just add a if statement check:

is it possible to control an engine with it? So when 500g is reached that the engine stops?

1. Yes you can use 100 kg load cell for measuring weight upto 100 kg. And yes the circuits remains same.
2. You don't need to connect to PC all the time. Rather 5 voly batter or 5 volt power supply adapter can be used instead of PC. PC is used for the first time for uploading code to Arduino.
3. And yes calibration is required everytime you turn ON the machine.
If i use 200kg weight cell instead of 20kg , connection will be same or diffeent.?? Please reply.
Connection will be same. But this code will not work with 200kg load cell. You need modification.

Excess voltage will definitely damage any circuit. But you can supply up to 9 volt to Arduino as it has a voltage regulator ic.

So we need to only one time calibrate the programma and that calibration save in the memory so we don't need to every time calibrate the programma when we start the circuit
Yes you can modify the program a little bit and save the data in eeprom.
Why do you connect the output of the HX711 to analogin ? According to the HX711 manual you have to connect it to digital (one digital and one pwm)
I am using the Analog pin as a digital pin.

We can use a motor to take the bag away when it has filled the pre determined quantity

Instead of measuring weights if i have to measure voltage in hx711 ,how will be the connection? and how to read 24 bit value?
Just measure voltage across 4 wires of hx711 using multimeter by changing different weight value.

Upto 40 kg, the accuracy is best. Beyond 40 kg i haven't tested.

Our project measure weight and produce sound for weight more then 500gm now we want to add input so that we would select random target value above which sysytem would start sound through buzzer....
Use buzzer with any digital pin of arduino.
Use if else condition that is if the value exceeeds the buzzer should go high

hello sir, how can I connect 3 different load cells to one LCD. To measure 3 different types of things, only one at the time, but it can display on the same LCD, so I don't have to install more than one LCD for each load cells.
Second, is there any way i can collect the data (the measurement) and store it to any database.If can, wld you give me words or to of what you think i shld know bfr I start the programming?
Last question, just incase if i want to advance my project. Is that possible or too difficult the programming to calculate the total weight of each load cell and display it on LCD?

50 kg load cell is too hight. But it should work as well. Did u edit the program.

Try with 5-20 kg load cell and once check, whether ur assembled circuut is working or not.
