Finally the video that I was looking for thank you so much bro
I found your video really useful because I’m literally about to start cerakote for my cr125 build. Done some test pieces and they turned out great. 👍🏼
Thank you! That's awesome dude. I've actually watched your videos before. The CR is gonna look 👌
This is awesome! Super cool watching your vids! Great edits! Clean cuts an great info!
Thanks man!!
Great video man
Looks awesome thank you
Yes the heat tape is pricey so I just cut pieces and do the part mating surfaces to save $. Also if you use coat hangers they have clear coat on them that melts in the oven but u can use aluminum welding wire over and over to save costs as well. Super nice result on your efforts!
Very helpful, cheers my guy
i stumbled onto your channel and glad i did, very interesting topic i have Harley's that i'm working on and this kind of thing is gonna help me out a lot.👍
Awesome! Thank you!
Great job, burnt bronze is my colour of choice too.
Thank you!
I’m your 100th subscriber 🔥
Thank you!!
Cool video! Powdercoating works the pretty much the same but less time in the oven.
It's nowhere near as durable
good video thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
1 year later, how has it held up?
I was wondering how I could bake my parts header exhaust if I cant bake it in oven I'd like to try the home kit ty
I'm curious of this too. Your comment is from a month ago. I'm wondering have you tried this yet if so how did things go for you?
I'm kind of thinking even after the oven you might have to run it through heat cycles on the bike if it is a header for a bike. One reason being is the exhaust header will reach far greater temps than a normal oven produces.
@10:20 Drop a 👍 like if you're diggin the grandma's baking glove 🥊!!
Haha! I got proper ones now!
Got yourself a new subscriber nice video. Do I have to have a sand blaster?
Thank you! Yes you do. The sandblast media will help the cetakote adhere better
If you are going to keep doing this. You might want to invest in a cheap turntable. It would make painting much easier. 😉
Very good idea!
If you look around the yard sales and some of the junk yards you can still find 240 volt AC electric kitchen ovens for around $25 bucks that are big enough for automotive wheels and motorcycle wheels in them, even a v8 bare block small block Chevy engine block
I got my small oven one Facebook for a steal. Next move is definitely something bigger and you’re right…can practically get them for free
@@motion_mx look for ovens that have the top burners burned out cuz you don't need those long as the oven works and you'll get it cheaper with the burners all burn out on top
Your content is so good for a small channel I just subscribed I hope it helps
Thank you!! Appreciate it!
So what is the advantage over paint? Tougher more scratch resistant? Is it better than powder coat?
Cerakote is tougher and more scratch resistant for sure. But like any coating it’ll of course show wear over time. Cerakote is a very thin coating … powder coat is thick and can mess with clearances between parts. I always found myself shaving off powder coat in certain areas of parts to make things fit right.
Thanks for the video! Did I see correctly that you used 20ml of Cerakote for the side covers in burnt bronze? Much/any wastage?
Just trying to get an idea of material cost for this sort of spray as I'm looking to do some engine cases too :-)
Thank you! So I mix 18ml of cerakote to 1 ml hardner. That does get me one cover with a tiny bit left over. I mix the same amount for the stator side and that leaves a little more excess….enough for some other things you can spray
@@motion_mx Thanks very much for the reply, valuable information!
Hey - nice video and walk through :)
What type of tape is the yellow tape you masked up with - it seemed to stick nicely on the metal parts. Ive not heard of heat tape... so figured you may have a brand I can use for searching.
Thank you! It’s called kapton tape. Cerakote has it on their website too.
NICE JOB WHAT KIND OF OVEN YOU USED TO DO THIS JOB
Thanks! Just a large toaster oven. It’s big enough to fit a large pizza pretty much
Kroger's food stores have Kroger brand maximum strength nail polish remover 100% acetone .. Packaged in 16 oz plastic bottles Incase you run out as they are open 7 days a week from around 8:00 in the morning to 10:00 at night... And a 16 oz bottle of 100%, acetone cost around $2... Funny thing is if women knew what they were soaking their fingers in all day they may not want to do that so much
That’s good to know!! I bought from a hardware store and it wasn’t cheap! Haha and yes I agree on that
In which cases do you prefer cerakote vs powder coat? And for a frame, is it better powder coat for durability?
It’s cheaper to Cerakote small parts. A frame in cerakote will pretty expensive I’d say. On deciding whether you want powder coat vs cerakote it comes down to which finish you’re looking for ( in my opinion)
Someone say, you can just paint directly from the bottle to spray gun without any mixture in C-series.
Is it true ?
V and C series do not have a catalyst to add. Obviously they still need shaken well. The down side to those are C series takes 5 days to cure, V series takes 1 hr at 500 degrees to cure.
They also still require a strainer
hi! its cerakote burnt bronze h-148? thx
Yes that’s correct
Really want to see the blood orange
Check out my Instagram @motionmx_ I have a pic posted there
Very good Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Uma observação, vocês já falam o inglês então habilitem outras línguas diferentes para os outros países como o português Brasil 🇧🇷 OK.😂😂😂
i waited to the very end to see that orange. i guess "later" means another video maybe perhaps idk
Check out my Instagram. I have a picture posted with the blood orange color. @motionmx_
Yeah, I wanted to see the orange next to the other colors too. I don't have instagram. Thumbs down.
Cover that tub of grease
Why did you mask off the gasket surface? Does Cerakote cause oil leaks? I know chrome plating gasket surface leak.
.
I guess I didnt want the media to pit the gasket surfaces. It’s very fine but I’d rather keep it how it was. You can resand the surface on a very flat top (which is a good thing to do anyway with any project if something leaks).
Were can i buy?
Are you wanting to by the materials? Links are in description.
Hello is this sandblasted?
Blasted with aluminum oxide
@@motion_mx okejj thank you
@@speedyilianilian1295 100 grit aluminum oxide **
That would look awesome without Honda all over it.
Bake it before you blast it
