I watched this movie today for the first time. And i liked it very much. The message of this movie is clear and it is timely today about this still ongoing pandemic. If we are living in the same day everyday and we cannot do anything to change it, the only thing we can do is to CHANGE the WAY WE THINK about it. And then, every day, do something new that we haven't done yet no matter how small or simple it is and get some pleasure or joy out from it. Life must be lived in every moment, not only in every day.
I disagree. The meaning of the movie is compassion. Compassion towards other people and their needs. That makes ones life fulfilling and meaningful. That's the ultimate meaning of life imo

If this movie was only for laughs it would be a classic. If it was only for serious tones of living life to its fullest with a sort of Buddhist undertone, it would be a classic. As it is, it's one of the best (top 50) movies ever made.
Such a deep movie acted with perfect humor. Harold Ramis said that he got hundreds and hundreds of letters from Christians, Buddhists, etc. saying how Christian it was or how Buddhist. He made it for neither religion. But the point is that people who live selfish lives, don't really live at all. They're already dead. That's why he couldn't die. Which reminds me of a prophetic scripture in the book of Revelation that says, "And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them." But when he decided to give himself to the situation, when he yielded his will to do good and live for others, his eyes were opened. He began to look for what he could do creatively and altruistically. It's like this wonderful saying, DO WHAT YOU CAN WHERE YOU ARE WITH WHAT YOU HAVE. The ten commandments are a blue-print for achieving this goal. Christ was the fulfillment of it. And you can prove it to yourself by asking him to show you. Try it. I think that if we only live for ourselves, only to gain pleasure and good to things for ourselves, then our lives don't have any kind of deep meaning, I think the movie also says that if you live a life where you also think of doing good things for other people, then you'll realize that bringing other people happiness or help ease their suffering can be an even greater reward. Of course you should also think of yourself and be mindful of your own desires and needs, those are important too, sometimes we also have to remind ourselves to be kind to ourselves.
It's 2-2-18. This AM I went into my coffee place and ordered my normal "Sm in a Large". This bring trars to my eyes. This was a great movie.
An idea for a Groundhog Day sequel: It’s 40 years later, it happens again, to their daughter. Bring back as many original characters as possible, and Paul Rudd as the love interest.
Happy Death Day is the closest thing it had for a Groundhog Day sequel, but with horror and slasher theme smuttered all over it.
One of the funniest movies ever!
not
I lived in this town for 10 years!
Welcoming 2020 watching this beautiful beautiful movie!! 😍
Shouldn’t have done it. Now we’ve all been stuck in Groundhog Day for two years! 32 to go : (

Im living this movie in real life every day is the same wake up search for a job and no chance at nothing
It's 2-2-18. This AM I went into my coffee place and ordered my normal "Sm in a Large". The girl brought it to me, I took it, went over and doctored it up and was preparing to leave when The Same Girl Looked Me Right in the eye and said "Sm in a Large" AGAIN, to which I responded; Whoa, what is it, Groundhog Day? Wait: it IS GROUNDHOG DAY". Happy Groundhog Day Everybody!!
I really think this is a new years movie. I'm starting a tradition to see this movie every new years day. 😊

There have been numerous different time loop movies that have released over the years, but none of them have topped the perennial all-time classic that is Groundhog Day.

I cant get over the feeling that angry Phil is closer to Bill Murray's true personality. When hes happy it seems forced.
