When I first watched it, I said Riser was a real jerk
After reading my current more mature perspective and LN, I think the guy was treated unfairly.
I think Sirzech was the one doing the dirty work here.
Can you blame him? No older brother wants his sister marrying a jerk. Raiser himself would feel the same with Ravel.
He got what he deserved. And he would change for the better.

Besides, it wasn't even Riser who arranged the engagement, it was the families of both parties.
He was beaten for something that wasn't even his fault, his reputation was ruined, he was traumatized, and worst of all, his own sister fell in love with the man who did it.
Does he have a harem? Issei has one too (and he literally screams for it everywhere)
Did he take his harem by force: no, every girl in his harem loves him deeply and they showed it in LN
Ishi only used Riser to make Issei look better, which he also did to most of the characters.

I give High School DxD 4/5. These are my three less favorite thing about the anime Issei and Irina childhood backstory, *Asia* and cheat codes/deus ex machina/breast powers.
Came in, beat a IMMORTAL devil, now that evils little sister has wet dreams of the own who beat her older brother lol, lots of fan service, but when it gets serious, it gets serious tbh
just finished season 4...they ruined the art style...this art style was the best ;sharp ,thick and dark just like old animes,i hope they would keep this kind of design with smooth animation like season 4 in the next season(at least Rias should be liek the older seasons) it would be the best combi..:D

riser and issei is like a decommission of ntr vs vanilla. riser being ntr and issei being vanilla. either way i dont really like either issei or riser. dont like riser more so if i had to pick a side it would be issei. although issei is a fuck boy that only got his harem due to his dragon. thats the one and only reason. if he didnt have that then the angels would target him. if he didnt have it then rias and the others wouldnt have made him a demon. issei is nothing special and never will be. the dragon is 100% the reason issei gets anything in this series.
