I introduced my friend to SHINee and she was blown away.
I have been on the journey for a little while, becoming a Babywol and even I never stop being amazed by the talent and ability of SHINee to present a message and deliver beauty straight to my heart. My friend is kind of familiar with kpop since did a Kpop reaction on my channel to BTS Black swan and ON music video. But after seeing my reaction to Shinee of their performance of IU's song Dear name on IU palette she was in love with their vocals so I wanted to discover more with her.

For those who may not read Hangeul, the last syllable 스 = "su". I don't really know how to explain it, but the "u" sound is short and sharp (similar to "hull" and "seagull") 😅 So roughly Romanized, the album names, so far, are:

Korean language doesn't have the "z" sound, so it will be pronounced as "s"), Space (most of his solo work are ballads and he does write his own material) or Preface/Pace (to annoy the heck out of Key)
Oh my God... You have stepped into SHINee ballad world... This is an entry only zone, no going back at this point... My God, they literally make you cry (sad ballads), warm your heart (uplifting ballads) and stunned (power ballads) with their voices,they don't even need much instrumentals for these... And their Japanese ballads are on another level of 'emotional'... The lyrics are always out of this world,be it jonghyun's lyrics or the lyrics they select from other writers - every song's meaning touches ur heart... My favs are

The more I am reminded of Jonghyun's songs that he wrote, the more I miss him more. I can't help but think about what type of awesome songs he would have written or came out with now for SHINee with their recent comeback. 'Annyeong' at the end of the song means 'goodbye' in this case. This song is about farewell. It's glad to see you guys enjoying SHINee's song in diverse genres. (FYI, 'Annyeong' means hello or goodbye depending on the situation)
I have a hard time listening to this song now. They wrote it for their fans but after Jonghyun died this kind of became an anthem for the fans to the boys.
They have like 190 songs minus the solos! Their discography is GOLD especially their concerts. Cant choose a fave. They are on another level since debut. Enjoy this journey:)

First of all... damn I feel spoiled with the double update, so thanks!
And yessss. SHINee ballads. The time has come. I'm not even a ballads girl but SHINee ballads just hit different. There's A TON of beautiful ones. I personally like Selene 6.23, which you saw at Beyond Live, In my room, If you love her, Sleepless Night, and Romantic... but there's so so many. SHINee has a couple hundred songs between their Korean & Japanese discography and their solo albums... so it's literally impossible to pick a favorite song haha.
Edit: Your friend is so cute haha. Hope her future husband will sing this, or a song with a similar meaning to her in the future
It's so difficult to choose favourite part.. They are so versatile.. When it comes to ballads , they are the best.. Can't describe in words..😍😍 It is so soothing.. SHINee's ballads and Onew's album songs are on point when someone's not in good mood.. It's so calming.. One can feel the voice and music..😍😍😍

Hey, I know you like Onew's voice then you should listen and react to "Please don't go," its a duet with Jonghyun. it is a very emotional song but so so beautiful.
SUCH an amazing performance and this concert really is their best. They really were on their A GAME!! I’d really recommend their who waits for live performance from 2018 special party the shining where Key is in the thumbnail. The vocals especially from Taemin are some of his best!

K-drama and K-pop began surging in Hawaii in the mid to late 90s and my now 84 yo mother was a fan. Like a FAN. She had literally over a thousand CDs. So I've always known about SHINee, but when I really "discovered" them, well, watching you discover them is basically what I must have looked like! Also, I do think these are some of the most beautiful costumes. They seem to reference traditional Korean outfits and to have them on a Japan stage is both a strong cultural and political statement, and it really was so important for them to do this.

I just discovered this song "The Reason" yesterday and I love it and felt very emotional hearing it. 👌
I am a huge, 12 years, Shinee fan. I also listen to many other glorious Kpop groups (Big Bang, Exo, Block B....), but there are amazing Korean vocalists that are not part of a group. Probably the most moving, riveting Korean voice (IMO) belongs to Park Hyo Shin. If you have not heard of him, check out Breath and Wildflower. Some call him God Hyo Shin. Please check him out and react. Onew, and the late JongHyun, have (had)voices that are beautiful and moving. Park Hyo Shin is a step beyond.

Btw, just a trivia. When u said this is the 1st time you've seen Taemin belted. Actually after Jjong's passing, Taemin was the one who covered a lot of his parts particularly the high notes on their older songs, and even in their new releases now usually he sings the difficult parts of the bridge. That is a result of his hardwork. Initially he wasn't given solo lines in replay as he needed to work more on his singing as his voice was a bit weak and unstable (due to puberty). Just so proud of our baby cheese (that's his nickname given by shawols 😁)
I still remember my first moment of hearing Taemin belt out notes in a ballad - gave me goosebumps! It was the first live performance of Sleepless Night. The video is titled [shinee music spoiler_2] on the 1theK RUclips channel. I cried. They were beautiful, the whole experience is beautiful

They ballad song is no joke!! Their japan song called Im with you is really niceee!!!
My favorite part of the song is the part where Minho sings, right before Key (near the end of the song, where you mentioned Key's vibrato). Minho puts his whole heart in that line! Before I knew the lyric, he sung with so much emotion that I was ready to find whomever hurt him to make him sing that way! 😆 Then Key follows him, just as emotional and I'm ready to go to jail for these guys! 😂😂😂
Anytime I hear Taemin belt out a note, I am so proud of him! When he first started out he could NOT sing and did not sing on Replay! Supposedly Jonghyun and Onew worked with him (along with professional coaches). He worked very, very hard to become the singer he is today.
These songs are not ballads but SHINee being naughty. Key's live performance of "Born to Shine", where Key --- just watch. Also, SHINee's live performance of "Dynamite".

I feel like this is so rare! & yesssss, someone else who has seen Minho in dramas but through Lovestruck even though it was such a tiny role!!! and yet memorable enough (for them to write him an extra episode hahaha)! :)) SHINee's ballads are out of this world, I hope you get to listen to more! they're so underappreciated by new fans, honestly! I love the comment about this song that could be in a kdrama! bc SHINee has sung for kdramas before, and even for Minho's drama - listen to Onew singing In Your Eyes when Minho starred in To the Beautiful You. :') he has quite a few other dramas too!
ps: their gigantic hats are an iconic look. it's a concept for their comeback back in 2013 for their mini album, Everybody. :)
pps: btw the writing in the background as they're singing are the members' own writing of the lyrics, I believe! I don't recognize all of their writing but I recognize minho's - his is amazingly neat and almost looks like cursive so it stands out - I think it pops out when the members are singing their parts. I spotted minho's when he started singing. for reference, 8:40 when minho's part comes back you can see the lyrics fade in for him - that's his writing.

Welcome and welcome again to the beautiful SHINee World of SHINee ballads! An Encore, Beautiful Life, You and I, Good Evening... An Ode to You and Kind have a special place in my heart. What I think really makes SHINEE's ballads truly a class on its own is that they obviously love singing together like this, they sing from the heart and they sing as one. You will probably see in any of their clips that when one starts singing a ballad, 100% the others will bring in the harmonisation. They are all such strong vocalists but they never overpower each other, instead, working together to highlight each voice and the message of the song.🥰🥰
Oh and our SHINee boys are also in Kdrama. Minho, of course is the veteran, but Onew is in Descendants of the Sun (he also sings in the OST) and Key is in The Guardians. I recently pretty much flipped when I heard Taemin singing the closing OST of my current fave drama, Navillera.
Fun fact I read about Lovestruck in the City, producers were shocked at the strong response to Minho's relatively minor character (underestimating the Minho effect, eh?😁😁). Unfortunately, the series was already more than halfway into production when it started airing, so they couldn't really add him further into the main storyline. Instead in a rare move, the producers added an extra episode to focus on our friendly (if rather romantically-clueless) neigbourhood cop.

I enjoy the reaction so much. Reminding me of myself fangirling over SHINee LOL you might want to watch the whole concert (SHINee World IV), there's the upload on youtube, there's eng sub as well. The concert...is magical! The performance, the clothes, everything! They sang a quite lots ballad there. SHINee's ballad is always good! There's this their one song, Orgel...it's creepily unique! It's written by Jonghyun. Seriously this guy just so creative! You should give it a listen :)

Thanks again for the reaction video. If your a Taemin fan watch Taemin's 2014 Danger vid. He learned alot from his older brother Jonghyun and you can see alot of similarities of Jonghyun in Taemin's performance.
Our boys do feel true emotions when singing these songs. Taemin has talked about deep connections to the music flowing through him. In concert videos, they are known to cry, especially Jonghyun and Key. Edit: the vocal shaking is called vibrato.

I'm a babywol myself, as of last year, and it has been so fun watching you fall in love with SHINee the same way I am doing! I have a long-term shawol who helped me find good content, and one of the things I have loved most is watching some of their appearances on other shows. I love getting to see more of their personalities and the way that they interact with each other.
A lot of those shows are a little long--do any veteran shawols know of good shows (or clips of shows) that show the boys interacting with each other? (bonus points for Onew's ttaekbaum, Jonghyun's kazoo, Key's sass, Minho's competitiveness, and evil sibling Taemin)
Which shows did you enjoy watching?
@@Yetti. I've been watching Hello Baby, where the boys take care of a 2-year-old for a few months. I also enjoyed seeing them on Weekly Idol--they have a really good energy with the hosts and banter back and forth really well. We also watched them on Shinhwa Show, but that one was very hard to find subtitled. It definitely showed their competitive side, though. Next up on our list is some Maknae Rebellion episodes where a group of maknaes from different groups all compete against other bands.
