@@manuelinthehouse2825 I figured that you didn’t by your comment and honestly it’s a good thing that you don’t have experience with addiction. But when you say that “you KNOW that drugs are a demon” makes no sense either. Knowing something and believing in something are two completely different things. First you would have to establish and prove that demons are real. Which nobody can. You can believe they are but you can’t prove it. For most addicts especially opiate addiction like painkillers,heroin and fentanyl addicts they don’t love doing them after a certain point. They physically need them to function. Otherwise they go through severe withdrawals and those withdrawals are very brutal. That’s the main reason it’s so difficult to get off opiates. Because you have a physical addiction to them. The withdrawals are like the worst flu you have ever had multiplied by 10. Then you have diarrhea and you are vomiting at the same time for hours. Then you can’t sleep for about a week. After 3-4 days of not sleeping you get these 10-15 minute sort of naps but you never fully fall asleep. I have personally gone through this many many times. I got hooked on painkillers after a car accident and my doctor was prescribing me a small pharmacy of painkillers every month. Yes it was my choice to take them and it’s my biggest regret in life. I wish that I had never even taken one. I had broken my ankle and few times in my teenage years from playing tennis. I received a athletic scholarship to the University of Arizona in 1995 for tennis and I also got a academic scholarship because I graduated high school when I was 16 years old. So I was raised right in a really good family,upper middle class and my parents didn’t drink nor smoke. I had also shattered my elbow and was prescribed painkillers but I never got addicted to them. After this car accident I don’t know why they got a hold of me like they did. The painkillers led to a black tar heroin addiction for almost a decade. I went to 12-13 different rehabs within that time and I couldn’t stay clean. It finally clicked and I have been completely sober and clean for more than a decade now and if it wasn’t for Ibogaine and DMT I don’t think that I would of ever gotten clean and I would of for sure have died. Especially now that fentanyl is the thing out there killing so many people,mostly young people. It has nothing to do with demons or anything like that. Addicts need professional help because it’s extremely difficult to do it all by yourself. Believe me I have tried many times. We somehow have billions to give to Ukraine but we are loosing over 100,000 people per year to fentanyl and other opioid overdoses. More than any war and from what I have seen the government and politicians just want to sweep it under a rug,which is pitiful. Until it personally effects them like their own kid,nephew,niece or grandkid overdoses and they have to attend wakes and funerals just maybe then they will raise their voice about it

Absolutely, I cannot begin to imagine. I am blessed. I grew up in the era of this movie and when I had my son I remember promising him I would never leave him alone. I saw so many friends die and it destroyed me. I was blessed, my son never went down that road but I know just how easily it happens-one night, one choice, one party, ONE MOMENT. My heart aches for all the Mothers and Fathers out there😞

He wanted the money so he could buy drugs (heroin). He was addicted to heroin at this point of the film and his body needed it because it actually physically addictive so he was in physical pain. Thats why people do desperate and crazy things when they're on heroin, they'll even steal from their mothers. He wasnt being good just because he said please. She did the best thing to help him and called police. It saved his life because he got clean from heroin when he went to jail after this and he changed his life.

As the mother of a recovering addict, this made me cry. Seeing your child in active addiction is literal torture.
This makes me cry too, only it was me banging on the door.
I was in active addiction for a little over 3 years. Heroin and coke.
I treated those I loved most like they were the worst people in my life.
I put my parents through one hell of an emotional roller coaster.
Back in 2014 I was lying on the couch, sick as a dog with Hep C and my mom was in the love seat next to me. I reached back and she held my hand. It was that moment that made me change everything. I realized that if she could still hold my hand and love me through everything I put them through, then it's time I stop the crap..and I did. I've been clean ever since.
My dad died a year later, but thank God he was able to see me clean for that year and I made him a promise while he was in hospice that I would never go back to using. I kept that promise.
Unfortunately my brother never stopped using and died from an overdose last December.
I just wish he could've seen that he was worth more....

Of course relapse is only a decision away, but hopefully the fact she has a family of her own now will give her something to fight for, to show her what's really important.
I don't have children nor did I want them, and now at 44 with severe back injuries I could never do it. But after getting myself clean I eventually bought a house, a car, I take care of my aging mother and my "children" which are my cats and dog, and met a wonderful man two years ago whom I'm still with and very much in love with. All of this worth staying clean for and above all else, myself. I'm worth it. Plus, I made that promise to my dad when he was dying, so I will never make the choice to use again. None of these things could've been remotely possible if I didn't quit.
Since being clean, I had to be prescribed narcotics at times because of serious pain issues, but never once did it reignite my urge to go out and get self medicate on my own.
My story as to why I started using to begin with wasn't about getting high, it was about relieving pain and not getting sick. When I was 27, my pain was severe and unrelenting and the only meds that helped me to have a normal life were the opiates. Over the years my tolerance had risen to that of a horse, no lie. Eventually I was taking three 80mg oxycontins a day, then when they stopped working, I was taking 400 mg of morphine a day, then onto 150 mcg fentanyl patch and would cycle back and forth when one no longer worked. Also was taking 4 mg instant release Dilaudid for breakthrough pain...all of that for over 5 years straight. Honestly, I never once abused them as they were my life line to a normal functioning life. However, I got a new doctor who right away said that I'm too young for these, and I just happened to be with my brother the day prior to seeing that doctor and he had passed me a joint, which was something I rarely ever did, but took two drags off it anyway. So when I saw my doc, he wanted a drug test before he gave me my scripts. He saw the THC and boom, I was cut off in a heartbeat.
I realize that yes, I broke my pain contract but it wasn't the worst thing I could've taken and it really wasn't a substance I would take anyway, it was just one time but that's all it. So my world crumbled, the pain was even more unbearable and the sickness was worse. I was even contemplating suicide because there was no way I could buy the kind of pills on the black market They were EXPENSIVE. I was the lowest point of my life and someone told me to try the heroin. I was very reluctant but I would've done anything to make the pain and sickness stop, and it did help. The problem is you never know the purity and that's dangerous. I respected that and treated as I would any other pain med I took. My real problem came when I started using coke which there was no real reason for other than the fact I was going through something awful at the time and I wanted to numb myself out. But I liked it way too much and it destroyed me. It turned me into a monster and I hated who I became, but it was constant battle in my head and the drug won out almost every time.
Thank god I didn't use longer than for around three years and I was able to stop everything. It was tough, but it had to end.
I keep myself away from anyone I used with or who currently uses. I moved an hour and half away, so I'm not near anything that reminds me of when I was using. I started a new life where I'm at and I couldn't be happier. In fact, I moved to my dad's hometown where he was happiest. I live two blocks from the hospital he was born in and can see it from my backyard. It makes me feel closer to him.
I still have spinal and hip injuries, some are degenerative but I'm working towards finding alternative methods of treatment that doesn't involve taking opiates. Regardless, I haven't taken them in years. It's painful, but I know there are other ways.
I can say without a doubt that I will never relapse. It's just not for me anymore and I don't have another run in me...the next time would kill me due to my heart condition. I'm good where I'm at, I have too much to live for.
I really hope with my entire being that you NEVER have to go through your daughter being actively addicted ever again. It's entirely possible that she'll never look back. Like I said, stay positive and keep her staying positive and looking forward, not backward. Bless the both of you and have a great holiday. ❤️

After research and close hand experience I can attest that enabling them (even just giving them money when you know what it’s for) leaves them worse off. Especially when you don’t set that boundary they will keep expecting you to enable them and their sickness
I think the mother is a singgle Mother, and she Don't have Choice either. Child usually take a wrong side when they turn teenager. it must be Irony since lot of U.S teenager somehow become like this, and ruin everything because Drugs is very many there. Especially for they in Philadelphia.
@@DI4MONDS. bullshit. Yes addicts deserve our empathy, help, and compassion, especially those in our families. However the part often not discussed about addiction is the lying and manipulation. My brother stole from our own house and then would go into a sob story so my mom wouldn’t kick him out then would go and do it again. After a while you start seeing the patterns and if it’s an act more than anything.
Cutting off an addict and deciding to no longer enable them is one of the hardest things you can do. However, contributing to their addictions well meaning or not will only make things worse.

Drugs are so awful they make you be someone you’re not, do things you would never do clean. But the fear of being in pain or going through withdrawal is absolutely brutal, it drives you to do absolutely anything to make the pain go away, then the cycle continues. 10 years clean today. I chose the wrong path because I was in emotional pain and drugs helped me escape..till it didn’t and became an even bigger problem. Like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. This scene hit home because the ones you hurt the most are the ones closest to you. They want to help you but they know they are killing you too..but they can’t bear to see you in pain either it’s a horrible predicament we put them through. If you know someone battling addiction remember it’s an illness, you can’t help them if you keep the illness going. Call someone in the addiction field for guidance and get them help. If the addict refuses, you must let them fall even if it kills them.
