I’ve never tried sea fishing but it seems really tough for little reward. Have you thought about going from a boat, a spot of wreck fishing?
Yes very tough for little reward. I've done the boats dont really have sea legs 😂
You'll catch naff all fishing from the shore in Scarborough, you'll be better off on the piers in Whitby. See if a boat called Queensferry is still in Scarborough. I've had some decent fish from that boat. Give Cozo a big shout-out for me.
Always go Scarborough only fished it once though caught a whiting and a daab from pier

Used to catch loads of mackerel back in the day, spinning with a light carp rod off the rocks below the harbour wall. Through the summer but maybe it's a bit early yet and the weather needs to be a bit more settled and warmer?
There's some good lakes around primrose valley.

I used to sea fish regularly before having to stop driving g due to ill health I miss it big time but make up for it on the local rivers
Mate i caught well on prawns believe or not but hard to keep them on.only small flat fish like what u had .

Dab fishing is good in the Bridlington harbour,down the slopping jetty leading on to the beach south side.👍👍
Talking about dog harness. A mate of mine swerved for a farmers dog and killed his own dog in the van after hitting a wall ☹️
