  • Have you ever struggled to know how much base paint is the right amount for your #dutchpour #acrylicpouring paintings? Trust me, it can be tricky to figure out. I’ve created hundreds of paintings using the #blowdryertechnique. I’ve learned a few tricks along the way, and I’ll be sharing #acrylicpouringtips I’ve learned in today’s video.
    In short, less base paint will create more defined edges on your #blowout, and more paint will create a more wispy look to the edges of your dutch pour. But which look is right for you? Only you can answer that question, but in this video I hope to give you some tips so that you can feel more confident achieving the look you want for your #artisticstyle.
    #zenartsupplies sent me a set of amazing Fine Line Miniature Brushes to try out on the fine details of my paintings. I’ve been anxiously awaiting their arrival, and I have to say, they are AMAZING!! My favorite feature about them is that the brushes feature ergonomically designed birch wood handles that improve grip, stability and comfort for painting fine details. I was shocked my how much control I had over the fine bristles of these #minipainting brushes. Stunning! #tinypainting

    Ok i watched this one again and can't get enough of it. Sometimes it's not about the bloom. It's the flow and colors and shapes. I prefer your blooms over anyone else's because others put piles of paint in the middle and blow it out into what looks like the cat threw up. I enjoy this one and don't stop making them your way just because they don't look like the others' you have a unique way of doing them and we need variety so each of us can choose what style we like. :}

      Geez i'm watching this one again and everytime you do this one the colors just blow me away. I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong i put down my white base and my first color was arteza dart brown and it disappered into the base. Am i putting down too much base paint or is one heavier than the other? I even did the paint consistency test on a piece of cardboard and the brown was slow so i added a bit more water so that should have been fine. What happened?????

  • @juliegilmore7899
    @juliegilmore7899 Год назад +2

    I watched this again because i wanted to go back to the basics to figure our what i am doing wrong. I never get tired of watching this and it's just as beautiful as the first time i saw it. So I think part of the problem is i have been using such small canvases that there was no space and time for the colors to flow together so i got a few bigger ones and am going to try them out and i bought a travel hair dryer the World's Smallest Blower is cute but i think it set me back and that was so frustrating. Thanks for all the advice i will keep on keeping on. Hope you had a great holiday.

    Thank you so much for sharing this! You are so creative what a wonderful artist that you are. I loved watching you make this the one that was like half blue and half white and then I somehow lost it and found this one and I'm so excited. It really is giving of you and generous and sweet to share how you made it it's just wonderful. God has gifted you with a beautiful talent. Also with my husband in the nursing home and the stress I have been going through it has been so relaxing watching you do this. My parents were both artists and I loved watching them work. They would have been so tickled to see you do this. God bless you in Jesus name and truly Jesus loves you! I'm sure he's smiling upon all that you are doing!! Again, thank you for sharing this.❤😊

    No i had housepaint for base i've seen others use it and made awesome paintings so i thought i would give it a try and since i am doing black or white bases for now i got a quart in the black and white and figured i could practice with them as base. Sorry i don't use fb or ig or really any other platform i wouldn't even know how to look someone up. I scraped it i hated it so much and trying to reuse canvas.

    Greetings! Im in love with all your work and watch your channel religiously to gain dutch pour wisdom! I am finding it difficult to gauge how much base paint to use. Im running into the exact issue you are referring to with the hard edges and i know because of this video that its due to not enough but unfortunately its too late at that point lol. Any tips or canvas paint ratio calculators you can refer me to for this technique?

    • @beccaharkinsart
      @beccaharkinsart  Год назад +1

      I like to blow my base paint back over the pour colors before blowing it out. This ensures I have enough for the other paints to flow correctly. I don’t use a calculator for how much base paint but I believe there are some out there.

    I want to ask if anyone out there has tried using latex acrylic paint for the bed of the painting? My husband and i did 2 paintings, one using just paint medium and artist paints. The second we used home latex paint semi gloss white mixed with water and artist paints mixed with water for the composition. When wet they were both stunning. But when dry the one with just artist paints and paint medium was dull and lifeless while the other with latex acrylic was gorgeous.

    I can't figure out what i am doing wrong i did the paint drip test on cardboard and they seemed to be close in consistency but then i pour my base on and my colors immediately get swallowed by white base. I keep trying and keep scraping. How long did it take you until you did a dutch that you liked?
