First channel I've ever felt strongly enough about to subscribe to. Lifelong fisherman, and my 10 year old son finally caught the fishing bug this summer so we've been hitting it hard. Keep them coming sir!

I've always just watched youtube casually, but this was the first time I found myself checking for new content daily so had to sub. We've pulled 10 species out of our little 50 yard stretch of river at our favorite spot this summer. No monsters yet but we've lost a few that we're ripping drag so we know they're in there!

African cichlid is just a general term used for pretty much any cichlid found in Africa. Cichlids have the scientific family name “Cichlidae” and these tilapia are both “Oreochromis” (blue tilapia Oreochromis aureus and Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus). It’s like the California locals calling the scorpionfish sculpins, when sculpins are Cottidae X and scorpionfish are Scorpaenidae X. In the most respectful way possible you are wrong.

    • @lutherwake1802

    • @FishingWithPorter

@@lutherwake1802 they’re from Africa and the Middle East. Like I said in my previous comment, African cichlid isn’t a species of fish, it’s a general term. So when you say they’re called African cichlids and NOT tilapia, you’re wrong. Tilapia is the specific term for the fish, African cichlid is not. It’s like saying a rainbow trout is a salmon. They’re of the salmon family but they are rainbow trout. This shouldn’t be this hard to understand bro 🤣
