The going to therapy, being diagnosed w generalized anxiety disorder and depression and then the medication not actually helping because it never addressed, just lightly numbed your actual problem 😬 like ma’am, we got the deluxe upgrade edition. Funny how the moment I started addressing coping strategies for autism and CPTSD, was the moment I was able to alleviate the majority of my anxiety and depression w/o medication even

This. I was experiencing a bad depressive episode so I got put in a ward and there I got medication for depression. I literally felt zero effect but all the caretakers and psychologists told me I was making great progress and seemed super active and stable. I got discharged and immediately fell back into my old patterns. Turns out it wasn't the medication, it was the clear daily schedule that made me function "normally" and guess which condition makes you feel more comfortable with a routine?..... Yeah. I'm happy I'm not the only one this happened to.

Sun through trees vs bad radio, I'll take the radio. I can turn the radio off and crack a window or just sing or talk to myself.

this was my exact thought! the sun thing sounds awful but at least a radio you can turn off

I can handle the radio. I zone out & tend to not listen while I'm driving. Lol my fiance hates it & I'm like okay then you change the radio I wasn't paying attention to it.

02:15 so I was going to pick the second one until she said it's not rhythmic... so in conclusion I'd choose sitting at home and not going out in a car :) I cannot ride the car either way cause of motion sickness

Those last two are so spot on I need to have them on automatic play anytime my dumb brain goes "impostor, you're just faking it, stop making excuses" about my autism lol
Also would choose the annoying radio sounds over the visual nightmare cause I can dissociate from sounds AND I could just turn it off, while there is just no escaping the other unless you like cover your face and take a nap I guess?

2:19 I’d rather throw myself out the car. My eyes are super sensitive and I hate the sun. I’ll wear sunglasses when I die. For the radio I’d rather no music then that in and out stuff. I’ll withstand it for a few minutes but an hour is torture.

0:24 omg i have never in my life heard something more real than that in my life, is so embarrasing to be like that cos i have had a lot of friends that stopped being my friends cos of that (for context I looked kinda "punk" but i had no idea about punk world so people speak to me expecting someone interesting and founded an autistic idiot, so I didnt interact a lot cos I knew that the things i would say would make them not like me, they all made fun of me cos i had no personality and i am boring and left me) but then i made other friends, they are also autistic, i feel stupid, cos they all have steriotipical "clever sutistic that can give you information about stuff" kind off autistic special interest and then im like
I like sailor Moon, cool college tesis about science that i didnt understand tho

I always thought I struggled most with sound sensory, I am now waiting for my stepdad to leave his room so I can try to convince him to grab me a snack because all the snacks are in a corner that is a little to bright and I feel overstimulated and Ii is that time of the week for autistic burnout, I can't find my gum or my sunglasses and I need help.

4:56 OMFG. I feel the same way. I'm 37 and I don't feel like an adult. Not one bit. I still get overly excited over stuff I enjoy like movies, books, music and video games like I'm still in my late teens/early 20s.

I'd choose the radio all day long, regardless of what was playing or half-playing or not playing rather than have the sun be strobing and unblockable. And if I forgot my sunglasses, y'all have permission to slap me upside the head.

  • @Star_Rattler
    @Star_Rattler 11 месяцев назад +1

Oh for sure the radio. I don't even have to think about it. Especially if I'm driving. If the sun is doing the epilepsy thing with the trees sunglasses do NOT save me bc it's so intense. I am driving I need to see the road. No way. I can deal with some ear annoyance bc it's not going to cause me to be visually impaired behind the wheel.

Harry Potter series for me and honestly alone 3. Those are my autism go to. I also get the being told you’re adult like as a child and then being called childish as an adult.

i gotta say, the last one happened to me except i was diagnosed with depression, ADHD and SPD and i’m not entirely sure i should be taking the depression meds bc what if it’s something else like (which i possibly am) autism, bipolar disorder or something like that. it’s really confusing and i get really paranoid that taking the wrong medication which i don’t need is going to affect me negatively

Oh, Aristocats. I loved it when I was younger. I think I watched it more than 20 times. But I loved Cinderella even more. I guess. I watched it a year ago and I knew I don’t like it anymore tho. I’m wondering how it would be watching Aristocats again… I read more often, so I probably have a book I repeat reading…?

Sun through trees or radio? I'd take the radio. Let's be honest, the sun thing can be dangerous even for people without neurodivergencies because it impairs your vision.
I've watched all those movies multiple times... except Grown Ups. I don't think I've ever seen Grown Ups
The whole being told I was very mature for my age as a kid, only then to get told off for being childish as an adult is too real
The last one... I haven't been to therapy yet but I'm worried that will be my experience

Matilda is 1000% the most autistic movie ever because not only does it read like Matilda is autistic herself but the whole ~vibes~ of the movie and the way it's paced/shot is like... it _looks_ bland but none of it _feels_ bland because it has this whole bizarre, almost fever dream-like sense to it the entire time, yanno? And that's kinda just how life feels to an autistic person (from my own experience, at least).
