Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.
I am the founder of Vocaltutor, (founded 2003) the UK’s largest vocal and singing tuition network and now The New Foundry Studios which opened in 2013.
I have worked with BBCTV on Just the Two of Us, with many celebrities including Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten, plus has worked for ITV on many children’s TV programmes including The Worst Witch, as their vocal coach.

I've never been a Miley fan but lately she's been killing it with her vintage covers and originals. Honestly she's a real artist and not many pop stars can say that about themselves.
What people don't realize is the only reason she even did pop was because she was thrown into the pop scene after Hannah Montana lol But she's been doing rock covers since 2009
I don’t think you understand what an artist truly is. Why are pop stares not artists? Dancing is art. Singing is art. Adele? Miley? Sam Smith? Pink? Lizzo? Gaga? Ariana? Just for a quick few....
Took her long enough but she looks to have found a lane where she can excel.
Because the bangerz era, where she is borrowed heavily from urban and hip hop culture, including all the struggle twerking was just so supremely disingenuous.

Agree. I'm in the same position as you are. Never really liked her until now I have seen her recent live performances. She's great. Real vocalist and she really knows music.
She literally can't make a bad cover.. there's a reason why her Summertime Sadness is the most watched cover on bbc 1 live lounge

I agree that all of her choices seem to suit her. She is a versatile artist, but I think what we’re seeing here the last few months is she’s a true rock artist. That’s what she should stick to.

Oh no! Her voice doenst fit Bring me to life at all. That song is a classic but you need an angelic voice for the verses. Miley‘s is raspy and awesome but BMTL would not be a good fit. Maybe Going Under? 😀

Miley has had vocal chord surgery for those that don't know that. Sometimes it is required when you have been singing non stop in concerts which down the road can be damaging.
It has changed her voice sooo much for the better tho, theres much more depth, deepness and a rasp to it that wasnt there before nd im loving it
I was so sad to learn about that. So many singers have had it, some multiple times because of the damage to their vocal chords from performing without enough rest. It needs more awareness.

She's been doing amazing covers lately. I'm trully appreciating her talent now as I never ever thought one day I would. She's proving to be an amazing artist with a solid background. Check her cover of Britney's Gimme More... That's an example of how to make an apparently uninteresting song into a very good one by her own merits.

I'm agreeing with your Comments with a sound on some previous damage on her Voice! But I have found that over the years her Voice has changed hugely! Not negatively though! I really can't see Hanna Montana singing with this voice now! Huge difference! The Miley Cyrus Voice now is amazing! And she is amazing on live performances.... Right??? 😁

Her voice is amazing , it just fit perfectly to this song. I think that in the video that you have chosen to listen the audio has a problem. In the original video, the sound is more clear. That’s why maybe you found something different in her voice.

Thank you for confirming what I wrote in your comments if you weeks ago when she did the Blondie song. She does seem to find it harder to get into her head voice, and she seems to avoid it all together. Maybe that’s an effect of the surgery. She should probably get a few classical voice lessons, or try to imitate an opera singer to get into that functioning of her voice until she gets good at it.

I really liked the way she pronounced the "A" in the beginning of the recording. I thought it gave it a little twang. I would have loved it she had leaned into the county sound even a little more to make it more different from the original

Pretty decent cover! This song is so iconic because of Dolores O’Riordan’s voice. I think Shakira has a similar tone for this song! She actually sang it on the carpool karaoke with Trevor Noah! Pretty spot on!
Miley moves very well on stage, too. I liked the coat manipulation. I'm not sure how she can lean down and sing at the same time, but she makes it look easy.
