Hell yeah man! There is so much amazing music in metal core. We need you to dive into more like this. Like the new October Ends

I had another subscriber ask about October Ends. I’ve never heard of them before. Maybe I need to do a reaction video? What’s your favorite song by them?

You should do DARK by October ends. Another incredible vocal performance...

You are the second person to suggest October Ends. I’ve never heard of them before. What’s your favorite song by them?

Jaded is great but this and Belcarra are my go to when it comes to Spiritbox. Heavy AF!

I haven’t listened to Balcarra. Sounds like I need to check that one out 🤘

and btw one does not need to be a metalhead in order to like this band. For example if you dont like Cellar door listen to acoustic version of Constance, they`re both performed by Courtney.

to answer your question: syncopation, polyrhythm and polymeters all give that disjointed music feeling. i think the song's on like a 3:2 polyrhythm, at least the breakdown definitely is. which is like every 2 beats the drummer plays, the guitarist plays 3. it's still on a 4/4 beat but it gives that off feeling

Thank you. I knew it had a name but it wasn’t anywhere close to any of the names you said lol. I love the timing on the riff. Kinda chaotic but in a good way!

@@Metalheadmandi speaking of chaotic timing... Their song "aphids" has the most chaotic timing ive ever heard so much so that it almost sounds like a clowncore...(in non pleasant way) yes clowncore is an actual style of music, look it up

Syncopation. It’s intentionally off thd beat, usually giving the listener a very uneasy feeling.

I love that technique. It’s so intriguing and really gets my attention.

@@Metalheadmandi definitely get into more of the progressive side of metal. Lots of bands play in weird time signatures, use syncopation, and a few I can think of will have rhe drummer play in a standard 4/4 time, while everyone else is in 13/8. It all eventually meets up on the same downbeat again, but takes a while. Very fun to listen to if you like nerdy music stuff.

@@bradkohl99 I am a music nerd completely. I can talk about breakdowns & music transitions all day everyday. I love watching The Charismatic Voice because she explains certain techniques and why they stand out to people. It’s just so interesting. I’ve been thinking about starting a podcast just so I can talk about that kind of stuff.
