What's still kind of baffles me a little is that the A's are moving to Las Vegas in the first place. It doesn't surprise me that they're moving it's just I remember back in 2005 briefly for like one news report I heard them talking about the A's potentially moving to Las Vegas and then they just didn't talk about that ever again. Then in 2006 I kept hearing of the A's were planning on moving to Fremont. That didn't work so then they were planning on moving to San jose. Now that would have been probably a pretty damn good move. However the reason they couldn't move to San Jose is just baffling to me it doesn't make any difference. It's because the San Francisco Giants at the time had an a ball minor league team in San Jose simply called the San Jose Giants. Such a low tier minor league team somehow made it Giants territory and the A's would not be allowed to move there. If that wasn't an issue, maybe the A's would have moved to San Jose like a decade ago or something and they'd still be in the Bay Area. But then I didn't hear the A's talk about moving for like the longest time after that as far as I know. the Golden State warriors left Oakland to move across the bay to San Francisco and this happened during their extreme dominance of going to 5 NBA finals in a row. The Oakland raiders move to Las Vegas in 2020. It's just crazy how it turns out the team that talked about moving first end up moving last and they ended up moving to a location well in a few years that is prioritize locations that were still in the bay area. Oh yeah and of course the San Francisco 49ers moved to Santa Clara in 2014 and might as well call themselves the San Jose 49ers because Santa Clara is right by San Jose anyways and still almost an hour south of San Francisco. Crazy how the Oakland A's end up being the last team to move when they were the first team to talk about it.
The San Jose Giants weren’t the trigger, just a minor detail. When the Giants were plotting to move to San Jose back in the 1990s, the Athletics agreed to give up any stake of their territorial rights to Santa Clara County to the Giants. Yes, this didn’t turn out well for the A’s.
If Kaval has any dignity he would give an interview with Bay Area reports and tell the truth about what that sleazeball Fisher is hiding about the Vegas move.
I'm taking the high road on this one. Resignation means he quit right? Who's to say, someone in his family, or immediate circle brought it to his attention on how much he has lost since joining the team. For if we look at him when he started, he was full of life and energy. A real go-getter about the situation of turning the franchise around. Then within these last few years, he just looks like a shell of himself. Like I am doing this because the money is good, but I am losing myself in the process. I'm very interested to see what he says or does after this. Working with a Billionaire senior citizen who has never worked a day in his life, must be tough and while the checks don't bounce - the morale has to play a factor eventually. This whole Vegas move is so illogical and I feel it in my bones that there is a nefarious undertone to it. I wish Kaval the best, the fans with a true scope on the situation knows he was just a figure head to take shots for Fisher - nothing else.
@brodiebrazil, you said it best, "So what?" I am so soured on Dave Kaval, John Fisher and the A's organization that I can't envision what it would take for me to follow the team again.
Dave Kaval's resignation is long overdue, and John Fisher really should have already sold the team (like yesterday). It's too little, too late; though it seems, the damage is already done💔.
Can MLB have a new vote to rescind the A's relocation approval to Vegas and instead given that permission to the Rays who's stadium got wrecked completely. It just seems like things have changed a lot since last year and I think the Rays need to move more than the A's.
That may be hard to do because then you would have to re-align the divisions and all of that. The Rays would then be in the AL West. Maybe you move the Rangers or the Astros to the AL Central, and one of the AL Central teams would have to take the Rays place in the AL East. With that being said, it does make more sense to have the Rays in Vegas instead of the A's
Brody: who is paying for the locker room upgrades and additions n Sacramento? The new buildings are underway. Is fisher paying for all that? Or the stadium owner? Who. Is fisher spending stadium money in Sacramento ? Thx. Brett
I was thinking the same thing. I read a Chronicle interview with Beane by Susan Slusser back in August and I got the sense after reading it they had an agreement that the A's move and Las Vegas was off limits. Not a single question about it. I can't help wonder if things would've been different if Bean was still a percentage owner and involved. But who knows. He has certainly kept quiet about the move from what I can tell
I have thought about this for a long time. For a guy who couldn’t get enough media attention, in front of every camera and microphone…he has been become incredibly silent, hiding out, and takes no ownership for this debacle. I think he is a wimp. Same for Slusser lobbing him softball questions when she knows he should be grilled hard. The whole thing is stupid and sad.
Perhaps John and Dave had a falling out. It was kind of ironic Brodie that you just happened to be in Sacramento when that city and Sutter Health Park were announced on April 4th, and it was the late Ray Fosse's Birthday that day.
This is a big ugly mess and he’s jumping ship before it implodes all over the place. It seems like most of the time when teams relocate it gets ugly. Even back when the Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to LA, it was messy, to say the least.
They should have gotten a deal from Oakland to get the Coliseum and it's surrounding land outright so they could tear it down and build their own stadium. Then they could also develop whatever they wanted around the stadium. Could have been great if they tried. Vegas sux in the summer!!!
Of course, the future isn't known. However, as Booney and most others have stated, MLB must certainly use everything at its disposal to avoid such an embarrassment. @pgaven9396 @@pgaven9396
Everyone wants to go to Vegas, it's going to be saturated with too many teams, which will fight each other for fans. Best part is, Vegas is now losing more visitors each year, less visitors means less jobs.
@@pgaven9396 They wouldn’t want him. They prefer winning too much. But Kaval is tailor made for the Newsom administration, they like running successful franchises out of California too.
@@pgaven9396 “Miestro”? Nope. I’m right. He’s another Kamala success story. You’re either coping or just haven’t been paying attention. Either way, just go back to sleep.
How can you blame this guy for the A’s sucking, unless you know that he had all the freedom and money to make deals. The A’s are horrible starting with Fisher, let Las Vegas have him, let them get used to losing.
I find it interesting that they want a stadium in Vegas, where the Tropicana used to be... which was built by Bugsy Seigel, a former mobster...and then you think about Fisher... kinda makes you wanna go hummmm
Is it too late for a Christmas wish? I would like to see MLB force a franchise swap between Ray's owner and A's Owner. I feel like the Rays owner could be happier with the Oakland market than staying in the St. Petersburg area since its larger. As a result, MLB would find a owner who is more willing to make it work in Oakland. The A's owner is planning on being in a temporary home already till Vegas is ready. But why not move the Rays to Las Vegas instead?! That way the history of the A's in Oakland can be preserved! Besides moving a former expansion team like the Rays to Vegas seems more normal given their lack of a stadium in St. Petersburg. The franchise swap doesn't affect the deal in place between the current A's owner and Vegas I would image so why not? Tampa would then become a new expansion city location potentially but would have to compete with Orlando for it and maybe Jacksonville too. You'll get better results with 3 cities competing for a team than just 1 expansion team and 1 city talking together. Orlando I think would be better since like Vegas it has a massive # of tourist. If you time it right the new expansion team in Florida will occur just as the Rays move out of Tampa and into Vegas, which helps the division alignment situation. I wouldn't be opposed to the A's owner who takes over the Rays franchise to sell the Rays name to the incoming expansion team in Florida since it sounds like it would have more worth in Florida than importing it into Vegas but he could keep the Rays name if needed I guess. But I would prefer to see things like how the Cleveland Browns name and history was transferred in the NFL.
Very good post, it is based on logic, reasoning and knowledge of the facts. Unfortunately both MLB and Fisher are only interested in short term greed and they are lazy thinkers. In short your ideas make too much sense for those bozos to ever consider.

Brody: who is paying for the locker room upgrades and additions n Sacramento? The new buildings are underway. Is fisher paying for all that? Or the stadium owner? Who. Is fisher spending stadium money in Sacramento ? Thx. Brett
If Fisher doesn't have the money for the renovations, that he lied about Sacramento.
Kaval blows
Now Fisher needs to sell the team with his crooked ass
Why now? He should have resigned when they announced they were moving to Vegas.
Another guy who has been awfully silent about the A's situation: Billy Beane
Thanks Dave! Have fun you helped destroy the oakland athletics. You should have split when you and that idiot fisher moved our team
Who cares, he lied to Oakland fans. He should never become involved in professional sports again. He can’t be trusted
To me, it's pretty obvious that Kaval got fired by Fisher. If for no other reason than things aren't going well in Vegas and Fisher needed a fall guy.
Would love to see you interview Scott aka VitalVegas on the A's issue Brodie
Good. Let’s get Fisher out next
Is he gonna look to work for other businesses to move them out of California?
Food for thought Brodie. If the pandemic doesn’t happen, does the Howard terminal site get done?
Kaval aka the greatest uses car salesman was there for one reason-- get money from Las Vegas. So now that he did his job he's out!
They should have gotten a deal from Oakland to get the Coliseum and it's surrounding land outright so they could tear it down and build their own stadium. Then they could also develop whatever they wanted around the stadium. Could have been great if they tried. Vegas sux in the summer!!!
Fisher is top 3 worst owner in sports.
Fisher is the Donald Sterling of baseball
@@hubaldotorres4841more like the Donald Trump 😂
Good riddance...but the real question for me is...did Kaval resign or was he forced to resign?
With the A's organization, we'll never know the truth.
I wonder if the Las Vegas Athletics will have call letters of LV, LVS, or LVA?
This will be fun. LV is Louis Vuitton, LVS is Las Vegas Sands (Venetian/Palazzo), LVA is Las Vegas Athletic Club (Gym) and Las Vegas Aces (WNBA).
Probably LVA though. Makes the most sense

It may not happen after all ...just saying
Of course, the future isn't known. However, as Booney and most others have stated, MLB must certainly use everything at its disposal to avoid such an embarrassment. @pgaven9396 @@pgaven9396
See you later! If only the Owner would resign.
Everyone wants to go to Vegas, it's going to be saturated with too many teams, which will fight each other for fans. Best part is, Vegas is now losing more visitors each year, less visitors means less jobs.
Please cite the evidence of fewer visitors.
Over 40 million visitors.
Lol. No loyalty and even worse, bad business decisions.
Couldn’t of happened to a better guy
Thanks for your Seevice Mr Kaval😂😂😂😂
Dave Kaval his little chance of finding a new job
He would flourish in the Newsom administration.
@@milesmayhem5440naaa he'd actually flourish with Maga...he even has the bug eyes like that maniac preacher😂😂😂😂
@@pgaven9396 They wouldn’t want him. They prefer winning too much. But Kaval is tailor made for the Newsom administration, they like running successful franchises out of California too.
@milesmayhem5440 lol wrong miestro...😂 they'd embrace him more than even Hulk Hogan's sweaty bandana 😂
@@pgaven9396 “Miestro”? Nope. I’m right. He’s another Kamala success story. You’re either coping or just haven’t been paying attention. Either way, just go back to sleep.
Yeah, "so what."
Empty suit
Kava, Kaval & adiós ( make sure the door doesn't hit ya as he officially scoots out ).
He probably was tired of being the fallguy!
He's going to work for the White Sox, help them get a new stadium built, in Nashville.
@@paulfox7899 dem, Tennessee Sox ! Kinda has an unnatural ring to it
How can you blame this guy for the A’s sucking, unless you know that he had all the freedom and money to make deals.
Bugsy was dead years before the Trop was built.
@@carlgemlich1657 I was thinking about the Flamingo, which Bugsy built. My mistake. But I still want to go Hummm about Fisher and Vegas
@@davidbreazeale7257 I agree with that.
He looks like he's surprised in this photo ! Lol !
He always looks surprised...
@@bartphlegar8212 🤣
He worked hard to get the team out of California and the Bay Area, but he's staying.
Brodie...I hear Kaval is considering joining the new owners of the Coliseum
The raise of a stadium in Sacramento!
The MLB should force Fisher to sell the A's. The Miller Group in Salt Lake City is primed and ready to go.
@@ericlund2909 the Miller group also probably has a brand new ball park waiting for them in Salt Lake City . I don’t want to see that
