The 80's really were Harrows golden age, after 1989 it all started going down hill fast, until it became the sh*t hole it is today, everything that made Harrow my happy place in the 80's has all long gone now.
Thanks so much for this. I remember when St Ann's opened; the year above us in school were allowed to attend the ceremony, although ours' wasn't- so great to see what I missed out! :-)
Goodness. I never thought this footage existed. I heard about the Princess of Wales visiting Harrow On The Hill to open St Annes Shopping Centre. I was in secondary school then. I never went but a few of my classmates from school went to see the opening. Later I saw the pictures in the local papers of Diana's visit. The plaque is still there, where she opened the shopping centre. St Georges Shopping Centre opened in 1996. The area has not changed much but gosh people really talked alot posher then. Su.xx
The old girl at around 7:16 that mentions Fish and Chips. Right busy body she was, I encountered her in the early 80s when I was a young teenager, she lived near me, can’t believe she is on this video, very formidable, Lord she must be dead now,
Ah, that was probably me & my friends you saw in 2019. Sorry about that. But spare a thought for us undesirables, It's not easy for us! & for the record I think we nailed loitering, that's something of an achievement & I'm proud of it!
Who remembers the Olympic outdoor swimming pool at the leisure centre and waterslides: Torrent cascade and vortex ? All now gone replaced by flats…… Boring
I was there! Remember standing on one of those brick tiered blocks which have subsequently been removed but provided a vantage point to see HRH Princess of Wales open the St Ann's Shopping centre. I recall there being several decoys before the real princess appeared .im sure it was 1984 when the princess opened it not 1987
Sad today
I feel sorry for Harrow…such a beautiful place,y visited and today is not the same at all
IT’s look like Delhi now 😢
